This thread is for reporting problems concerning any problems with gifts. Please read the following information BEFORE posting in this thread. Thank you!

Experiencing Difficulties With Gifting?:

1. Clear you Browser's cache and Macromedia cache files. Then restart your browser.

Click HERE (http://slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258262) for instructions on clearing your browser's cache. Click HERE (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html) to clear your macromedia cache files.

2. Uninstall then re-download your Flashplayer. Rebooting your computer after the uninstall will remove any memory of the orignal Flashplayer.

Uninstall your Flashplayer HERE (http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157) Download a new version HERE (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)

3. Try using another browser.

4. When exchanging gifts, remember, you need to click on the 'exchange' button after choosing a new gift. Otherwise, you will receive the original gift that was sent to you.

** Note that facebook has moved the gifts to the left side under 'App Center' Click that to retrieve gifts **

You may also use the new 'My Requests' tab from within the game. This is used to accept, exchange and sending back to the person that sent you a gift.

I cleared the cache and Macro files. The seeder still does not show up in my friends gift box. I can't find the Report/Controll the App. site that you told me to submit my problem. This is support and I can't find the place.

Tonight when sending gifts I was able to send 26 gifts. When I tried to send the next 26 gifts I got a face book message saying I had reached my limit - try again tomorrow.

I went out of farm town, came back in and was able to send gifts to 26 more players. But when I tried the next 26 people, I got the face book message again and could not send gifts to any more players.

I've had no problem sending to all the players in my list twice a day for months. I really hope face book is not going to limit the number of players who can receive gifts in a day again.

No they need to be on separate farms. Just like any facility in Farm Town you cannot have more than one of each on a farm. The second one becomes just a decoration.

Facebook has always limited the number of gifts we could send to people. The number can change without notice but it has been 26 for some time now.

Yes, but it was possible, until today, to go back to the gifting page and send another 26. And another, and so on. Today I picked 26 people to send to, only 11 got sent, and going back I was told I had run out of gifts to send.

Oh well, time to try plan B ;)

Did you accept a gift, then say yes and it go back and you try to accept one again and then took you to the farm on the second one? If so then what is happening is Facebook is not clearing the first gift and leaving it in the list. Try accepting the second one in the list each time and that should get you past that problem.

Yes you are limited, but the limit just changed to 35 from 26. You have to wait 3 -4 hours before you can send any more.

Prior to the recent changes to the game, we could send out gifts to 26 individuals each time we posted gifts. There was not limitations as to how many times we posted. When we ran out of friends and neighbors to send gifts to we were done. Today, since the changes to the game we are limited to sending out gifts to only 70 friends or neighbors and no more. This is terrible. There should be no limitation on sending out gifts. I have read your Chapter on sending gifts and your excuse is that it is a Facebook problems. There should be a way to fix this problem because it hurts the game,and I am quite certain that the administrators and coders can retified this with a few short changes to the game. Please do so and give the player back the spirit of the game that it was intended to give.

So there is little that can be done by the Developers.

Try clearing your cache and macromedia files. It could be that they already transferred and are just not clearing from the gifts. Instructions on how to do that are here:

I too have been experiencing trouble with gift receiving and exchanging,for months, yes I too am fed up of seing almond,chestnut or whatever nuts ... what I do now is don't log into farm town just face book where your gifts are in your apps. that way it works for me, then when you go to farm town they are all there . hope this helps ,cuz it helps me . good luck .

Can't send gifts. There is a box to the right of my box (where you ck. friends names), that has advertisements in it. When I go to ck. friends names, the advertisement box jumps continually..the scroll barely moves...after I ck. boxes, click send, nothing happens. I think the advertisement box is causing this. Farm Town allows me to send from 2 to 23 gifts a day. This has been going on for 2 weeks, neighbors are fed up with problems and have stopped playing.is there an answer from farm Town as to what to do? Facebook controls the number of gifts we can send and not Farm Town. However they have raised the limit to 35 from 26. Are you sending gifts by the neighbor link below your farm or sending return gifts when you accept one or sending neighbor requests before going to main gif page to send. All of those count toward your total. Also I have found if I close out of Farm Town and come back in then I can go send another batch almost immediately.

Yes, free gift links sites are not endorsed or by slashkey. They have been known to cause problem like yours and worse. I wouldn't use that site again, as it has caused you a problem. Only thing i can suggest is, you try clearing your cache and macromedia files, close browser, and reload game. See if that corrects it. Instructions , if you need them, can be found........

As that didn't help. The only thing left to do is contact FT suuort and see if they can help.

To contact the support staff scroll down past the bottom of your game screen and the Friends Activity panel on the left hand side, click on 'Report/Contact This App', and then fill out a support ticket. The time it takes for a response is dependant on the amount of support tickets they have already received.

Try clearing your cache and macromedia files, close browser, and reload game, which will get rid of any old data that may have caused the problem. Instructions , if you need them, can be found........

Are they not showing up under "game requests" ?
Could you have blocked the gifts in your settings when you quit playing? Check your news feed settings. Go to your "privacy settings" for FB and scroll down to "Blocked People and Apps". Click on "Manage Blocking" and scroll down. You need to check "Block app invites " for any gifts blocked from specific users.

All FT gifts sent , show up in the "game requests" section. The friends activity panel does not update when you have accepted one already sent. If you don't think that is what has happened try the suggestions listed in the 1st post on page 1 and make sure you haven't blocked any requests being sent to you.

The number of gifts you can send is controlled by Facebook and not by Farm Town. What I have found that works is to close Farm Town after sending the first batch then re-open it and go send a second batch.

If you see this at the bottom of your screen then these are gifts you have already accepted. New gifts do not show in that until you have accepted them. That is why you don't see them in your game requests. Ask one of your neighbors to send you a new gift then look in your game requests and see if it is there.

If you are talking about the notifications you get on your Home page, that is a 24 hour accumulated list. As each person sends you a gift during the course of a day, then it adds to that list.

Is it that after you havce accepted the first one and then click yes to collect more that this happens when you click on the top one again? If so it is that Facebook is not clearing out that the previously accepted one. Try skipping that one and try the 2nd one in line.

It doesn't seem to matter if it is the top gift or one in the middle. As soon as I click accept, it disappears and does ot let me get to the accept or change

For one thing this would not be a Farm Town problem since the groupings are supplied to that function by Facebook.

Assuming you have created a Farm Town list for this purpose, have you checked to make sure that you still have those lists?

Are you using any plugins in Chrome like to remove the App Ticker? If so you may want to turn those off one at a time and see if that helps. I have Chrome but don't use it much and haven't seen this problem.

do you play a lot of other games and have a lot of gifts for them on your gift page? Usually if there is more gifts than what it is displaying there is a "show more" link under the displayed gifts for each game, but for some reason I have at least one that only shows one gift when there are three, and the others only show up as I accept gifts from other games and this "makes room" somehow.

Hi have you by chance accepted gifts from a external gift site?

usually when you click accept and it goes direct to the play instead of the option to exchange means you have allready accepted a gift with the same id that day.

That "Games" is an application on Facebook and has nothing to do with Farm Town. The Games Requests area on Facebook is for all application/games on Facebook and not just for Farm Town. Someone must have sent you an invitation to that application.

Did you allow it to access your information? If so then you should be able to go to Account Settings, click on Apps in the left column and and next to Edit for that application there should be an X. Click on that to remove it.
This shouldn't keep you from going to Game Requests in the left column of your Home Page and getting to your gifts.

Anyway when I go to the free gifts page, I can pick the gift I want to send. But when I get to the next page to choose who I want to send gifts to there are no neighbor names to choose.

So can not send gifts to my neighbors.

When I work my windmill, the flour doesn't show in my storage. When I accept gifts, the flour doesn't show. When I post asking for flour, many people send and I accept but it doesn't show in my storage. Sometimes I can get some by accessing offsite free gifts.

This is an example but I can't always get other things either. When I work others' facilities or just send them something (where I should get something also) I don't always get it.

I thought this would clear up after the September 20 launch because I have had problems before and that cleared it up.

I clear the cache everyday and have deleted the cdn.slashkey file twice just recently so that's not the problem. My monitor jumps around also. I can move it with the mouse but it jumps back. Sometimes, it just jumps off the viewing area. I can't work my own facilities. It does not do that with other programs so I have to think it is a Farm Town problem.

I have enjoyed playing Farm Town for about 3 years but these issues has made it too difficult when the time and work doesn't yield anything. Please let me know if you can fix this.

For the monitor jumping around, check your preferences (wrench up top) and make sure that "Follow avatar" isn't checked.

One other thing I noticed from your post is that you say you ask for flour many people send. Are you asking for Flour from within the windmill? You have to remember when you post for ingredients posts that is what you get and not the end product. So if you are posting for ingredients for flour from the windmill then what you get is wheat to make flour. Try posting for ingedients for bread (takes 2 flour to make) and that will get you flour.
When you are checking in your storage for flour are you setting your filter to All or to From Facilities? Those are the only two lists that will show it.
Now with the new addition of the ingredient amount to our facility manager you can also check how much flour you have. For example if you open the bakery, then click on the question mark for Bread, it says it requires 2 flour. If you hover your mouse over the flour icon it will tell you how much flour you have in storage.

As they have added more facilities then requirements have gone up, specially basic items like flour, eggs, milk, metal sheets, etc. As you quoted chocolate we did have chocolate covered peanuts added to confectionary. Egg use alone has risen to something like 1800 to max out facilities even with only 1 of each. With egg collection at only once a day it is hard to get enough for a fill.

What are you posting for help for? When you post for help to get an item you are actually posting for ingredients to make that item. As an example if you are posting for ingredients help for flour, then what you are getting is wheat to make flour. If you post for bread then what you get is flour to make the bread.

are you having issues with any other section of the store or is it just the facility section? Come to think of it, I'm not sure what level the latest facilities unlock at but there may not actually be any more to unlock. If the Hospital is the last facility showing then there are no more (currently) to unloock

So sorry for all the troubles! I am unclear on what happened here with your forum account but I certainly can understand your frustrations.

As far as the gifting issues I have couple questions that may help us find where the problem is...... Do you clear your browsing history/caches on a regular basis? Is this problem happening on more than one browser? Has this only been happening since facebook made the changes? Do you have the latest version of abobe flashplayer installed?

this usually happens when you have already accepted a gift or the gift has been accepted too many times. If you are not using a gift site, then it's possible the links for the gifts sent to you have been shared on a gift site and others have collected them before you have had a chance. Each gift you accept needs to have a different time stamp, so another possibility is a neighbour has tried sending multiple gifts in a row (eg accidentally double clicking) and the gifts are not unique so you are redirected to your farm. However, if this has been happening for weeks I doubt it is the later

Also for moving things from storage make sure you have an area larger than the object be able to set it down on the farm. Make sure nothing is hidden so you can see if anything is in the way.

Yes, now you mention it, the number of messages shows up next to the FT link. However, at the same time the gift glltch began I also stopped getting notification of messages. I still cannot collect more than the occasional gift. None of my settings has been changed since before this began. My cache clears automatically. A couple of my neighbors have noticed they are not able to get their gifts either. There is a problem.

Did you ask for petrochemical barrels in the refinery? That would actually be the ingredients to make those which would be crude oil barrels. To get petrochemical barrels you need to ask in the petrochemical plant for turpentine or one of the other products in it, to get petrochemical barrels.

There is no other way to get to your gifts unfortunately. There is nothing on the page or there are no gifts listed at the top?
Facebook now only lists 3 gifts and then a link to click to show the rest of them. Are you seeing posts from Farm Town from your neighbors for Belt Bonuses, Ingredients Requests, and Facility work in your Newsfeed?

Hello,

If you are not seeing any requests from any games when you try to load that page, then it's likely to be a FB issue which we do not control. Have you tried loading that page using another browser to see if it's browser related?
Remember you can still send gifts the usual way through the "send gifts" tab at the top of your game screen. The "friend activity panel" located beneath the game screen will show some of the information on who has sent a gift to you recently.

When I click on a friend's FT bonus post on his wall and get a "12 Hours" error notice, it marks the post expired. Even though nothing was sent, it expires. I have tried this several times to verify it.

Holiday gifts sometimes will not show up in those options because they are temp gift options.

with the new system you dont have access to the url's you can however still use the oold system but is much slower.

try clearing your temp files instructions in my signature

Hi we will need a link to his farm to check his farm data the link you have provided only links to his facebook profile.

when you send the ft gifts they will be sent direct to the receivers gift box

however the smaller version of each tool needs to be accepted and added to storage before farmtown will let you send the upgrade if you try to send the bigger size before the smaller has been accepted and added to storage you will receive a error message saying the bigger size could not be sent. :)

I agree - was dismayed to see that even though I carefully maintain a list of ACTIVE Farmtown players, now I have to cull through a list which happens, for some reason, to include people who don't appear on my neighbor list even as inactive. This is a step back among the many steps forward.

You can get the temporary items through the new My Requests tab on your farm, but only for any new gifts from Friday on. The older gifts don't show up there.

I am not sure if Farm Town can do anything about this. It seems Facebook has made another stupid change. I too used a Facebook List to keep active neighbors for sending gifts. Hopefully Farm Town can figure out a way to add that option back to the Send Gifts page.

Working for me - you have to click exchange, click the item you want, it then goes back to the first page, you then have to accept the item you exchanged for. There is then a box that appears giving you the opportunity to return a gift. Maybe folks dont realise that just clicking exchange doesnt accept the item like before??

Since the new method for gifting has been introduced, I have been unable to send gifts to neighbors like I used to be able to. When I click on Send Gifts it goes to the gift page, I select a gift to send and then click on Farm Friends. The page comes up showing just a picture of the gift I was going to send but no list of Farm Friends to click on their names. I can receive gifts OK but the sending is a no go!! Should I be doing something different? Please help as I wish to send my neighbors some gifts. I am using Google Chrome and Windows XP. I have done everything suggested. :(

Hi there. I think I may have discovered a problem.

When I click on a friend's FT bonus post on his wall and get a "12 Hours" error notice, it marks the post expired. Even though nothing was sent, it expires. I have tried this several times to verify it.

Is this how it was designed?

I tried this scenario again today, and it seems to have been fixed.

It's immpossible to get my gifts, unless I take what is sent me, and then I can only get 1 gift and it goes to my farm, and then if I want all my gifts I have to keep going back to my mail, 1 gift at a time!
Of course that's ONLY when I can even access FarmTown on my space !

I am using Firefox 7.0.1, Windows XP, Flash is updated, etc. My problem is: In the "Send Gifts" tab, I can choose a gift > proceed to send > then nothing appears (It is blank!) under the "All Friends/Farmer Friends/Non-farmer Friends. Resulting in an inability to send gifts. In the "My Requests" tab: The "Accept" button does not work. The "Exchange" button works! But, I cannot accept what I just exchanged. I haven't tried the "Ignore" button (I do want my gifts!). My farm "camera" also no longer works, since the upgrade. Hoping you can fix this as soon as possible....thanks!

I am not sure if Farm Town can do anything about this. It seems Facebook has made another stupid change. I too used a Facebook List to keep active neighbors for sending gifts. Hopefully Farm Town can figure out a way to add that option back to the Send Gifts page.

(At the top of the white screen are tabs for "Farmer Friends" and "Face Book Friends".) When I select one of those, there seems to be a quick flash, as if another screen is trying to load, and then the white screen with the pumpkin comes back.

I have cleared cache, macromedia files, refreshed, etc. This has been happening since the release.

As always it is nice to know I am not alone. Seems I can send gifts, not sure if others are receiving what I send. Also can not use Farmtown list. which is a bummer. This morning I have NO gifts. Not one. Not for even the other games I play. Never has that happened before. Leads me to think the problem is with Facebook not Farm Town. I have faith they will work it out.

If you are using an ad blocker for Firefox or through an anti-virus program, try turning that off and see if you can accept your gifts.

Actually no they are not regular gifts and the links are to Farmtown.

That is strange. I checked my list and it isn't even consistent. I have some for a specific item that have the link and others that don't for the same item. Maybe the developers can figure it out.

To add to this, I checked with one neighbor and the one from her was a gift sent back when she accepted one from me. Need to check some more from others to see if this is where the problem is.

Gifting in MS: Using windows vista, IE 9, gift page shows just a few items to select from. The Clydesdale horse shows a black background. Last item to select from is tree with yellow ribbons. When selecting gift, the background turns black. The send page is blank no friends or farmers to choose. Have not been able to send gifts since MS farms came back last night. Sorry to complain about gifts and thanks for restoring the MS farms.

I tried to send gifts today. In the past I was able to select my 'farm town' friends list (my own list of people who regularly play and I gift). This option no longer seems available. I can only choose between 'all friends', 'farm town players' (which includes everyone who has ever played and for me is a huge list of people who no longer play) or non players. Please can we have the option to select from our own lists back.

I can't change the gift to all types of animal. When I click on them, there is nothing happen.
But when I click on non-animal (items, trees...), there is OK!

I use an iMac running 10.5.8, and I use Firefox 7.0.1 as a browser. I have emptied my cache, cleared out my cookies, and am running the latest form of FlashPlayer possible. As of the middle of October, I lost the ability to accept or receive gifts, the avatar's real faces no longer appear above them (only white heads), and I cannot go to a neighbour's farm and water, rake, or pull weeds.

Yes, I read the first page, lol! This is a great game, so I'm just waiting and working until there is a fix.

When you select a new gift it should automatically go back to the first page you saw with the new item. Some have reported that animals will not work for exchange for them so if that is what you selected then that may be your problem. Try choosing a non-animal gift and see if it works.

Should you want to exchange for an animal, just click the name of the animal within the picture, not the picture of the animal itself, then it should let you exchange.

Okay...I just tried my IE8, on this computer, and it does work. I can accept and send gifts! But, oh, do I hate Internet Explorer...it is so very slow. So, my problem seems to lie somewhere with Firefox or its add-ons. I will disable all my add-ons and see what happens.

Since the last release on 10/15/2011 I can not send gifts. I am using Firefox 7.01 browser. I can send gifts if I use Internet Explorer though, I don't like to use it. Have tried all the fixes that are listed and nothing works. Also the new request tab in the game doesn't work can't except gifts form there but can through Facebook

I can receive everything and do exchanges as well. I'm having trouble sending.

I select the gift
Click on PROCEED TO SEND
Click on FACEBOOK FRIENDS LIST (I did approve the app)
I get an error window that says...
An error occurred with Farm Town. Please try again later.

What's weird is that I can choose any of the options OTHER than FACEBOOK FRIENDS LIST.

I cant get to the Facebook Friends list when sending gifts. I get the pop-up which says "select friends to send this gift" which only gives All friends, Farm Town Players etc. If I try to X out or cancel this it takes me straight into the game. I am unable to click on the new Facebook Friends list tab at the end - it is masked by the pop-up menu and that wont let me click on anything under it without closing which as I said takes me into the game.

Thought I would update my own post.
As an experiment...I logged out of Firefox and went thru IE, which I REALLY Don't Like:(:(
BUT.. I WAS able to send gifts, and ALL of the tabs for friends worked...I was able to go to Farmer Friends, and all of my neighbors showed up, and I could select the ones to send gifts to.

Even more, since the Face Book update about 3 weeks ago, I have only seen the white profile (generic) Face Book picture (not their actual profile picture) above the avatar picture of all my neighbors on the bar at the bottom of Farm Town page. Going thru IE, their actual Face Book profile picture shows up on the bar.

So, my unscientific experiment tells me that the issue is between Face Book and Firefox!! BUT, I absolutely detest IE, so can Farm Town (slash key) help find a solution to this problem?? I really want to use Firefox.

First I have to say I love the new scrolling and all the new stuff in the latest release.:):):):):)

But now I find I can't send gifts to anyone. When I choose the gift to be sent it takes me to a white page showing the image of the gift I have chosen, rather large on the bottom left and says BAD REQUEST. No error message or numbers.

Just a few minutes ago, I tried several different items to see if it were just one bad one, but got the same thing on all of them.

I looked around the forum but didn't see anyone else reporting this issue.

I should also have said that I use Chrome. Game play is so much better and faster on Chrome. Haven't tried it in any other browsers.

I have more FT friends then is showing when I select FT Friends as the group to select recipients from. The others are FT friends but don't show up in the selection box - only in the "All Friends" selection box.

since the new update with facebook where there is a second window needed to send gifts firefox apparently doesn't like the second window is ther some setting that I need to change in order to be able to send gifts to my friends because IE is so much slower and takes twice as long to send. any feedback or help is appreciated!!

First I have to say I love the new scrolling and all the new stuff in the latest release.:):):):):)

But now I find I can't send gifts to anyone. When I choose the gift to be sent it takes me to a white page showing the image of the gift I have chosen, rather large on the bottom left and says BAD REQUEST. No error message or numbers.

Just a few minutes ago, I tried several different items to see if it were just one bad one, but got the same thing on all of them.

I looked around the forum but didn't see anyone else reporting this issue.

I should also have said that I use Chrome. Game play is so much better and faster on Chrome. Haven't tried it in any other browsers.

Had you already sent a gift to her in the last 12 hours (I think that is the right time frame)? Any friends you have already sent gifts to will not show when you go back in later except on the All friends list.

We are both FaceBook users, operating with Windows 7 & using IE9. My recollection is that she was on my "Farmer Friends" list the first time I sent gifts (after this last update) but hasn't appeared back on that list since then.

Every time I try to get the freshwater bait and salt water bait to load it says I need 600 and 650 coins to work it. Well I have over 2 billion coins so why doesn't this feature work?

Could be just a temporary glitch. Gifting issues that others are experiencing are being worked on, perhaps something was being tested at that time. If you continue to have problems try the suggestions in the 1st post of this thread.

Does it show the window with "My Helpers" in upper left, but no names in the list? Or is it just blank with the gift you selected to the side?

Can't send gifts. I get BAD GATEWAY message.
I'm on a Mac version 10.6.8 and using Safari browser. I have cleared my cache and also removed the ZYNGA cookies just in case there was a problem there.

Try allowing pop-ups from l1.slashkey.com. I had to do this for my wife to get those pop-ups.

2 issues now with gifts.

First one that I posted about earlier was I received 1 fuel tank as a gift from a friend, a few moments later I got spam about being sent something from that friend and saw I now had a total of 6 fuel tanks. This happened yesterday and just happened again today from same friend.

Second issue (that I just had today) I exchanged a few of my gifts, one was a banana tree the other was hen, I exchanged them for rubber trees. I still have both of the rubber trees on my farm but the gifts never went away, they are still in my gifts tab to be accepted.

What anti-virus ad-blocker are you using that is doing this. It would be good to know for informing others.

Adblock plus a plug in for chrome and firefox...hope this helps :o

The Facebook Friends List has a dropdown box that says Select a Friend List in it. When you click the arrow to drop down the list that is the only thing in it.
The Farmtorn Farmers Lists do work for My Neighbors and Farmers Helping Me.
So not fixed completely.

Just checked it again and they still are not there. This is IE8 on XP and WF3. I use the secure login for FB, are you using secure or unsecure log in?
To me it isn't a big thing because I can use the Neighbors and Helper's lists to send gifts.

Update: I changed to unsecure login for Facebook and now see my lists.....go figure. Changed back to secure mode and they are still there, so disregard this post.

Just tried FF and am not having the same problem. Are you having this problem vis the "My Requests" tab at the top of your game screen or via the Facebook "Game Requests" page? Have you tried clearing caches, closed browser, reload, since this happened?

It is possible to uncheck the products, but it is fiddly, you have to get right into the top left corner of the check box to uncheck it.

I found when checking this that because the amount pop up is back you have to be precisely over the check to get it to work. The way you know you are precisely over the check is when the amount pop up disappears.
This does need to be adjusted so that area is not included as part of the hotspot for the pop up.

The new game updates to fix this only came out a few hours ago, so maybe, they hadn't quite reached everyone yet. I'll keep an eye out for other users with the same issue to see how widespread the problem is, if it doesn't settle down in the next few days or you start being able to use the feature properly do let us know. The check thing will be passed on as well.

I also clicked the 'select a friend list' drop down, no choices - then tried again and my lists appeared. So this now works :) No longer alphabetical, but I don't care about that.

However the buttons still don't work on the new My Requests tab. Specifically, Exchange works - but after exchanging, I still can't Accept.

I wouldn't normally do it, but as a test I clicked 'ignore' - that works! It's just Accept that doesn't.

I have two farming friends that appear only in the "Non-Farming" list and total friends lists
