Hello :) This thread is for asking questions or asking for assistance concerning anything to do with the monthly farm contests.

1. Before asking for help please ensure that you have read all the first posts in the following threads:

-Best Farm Contest!
-How to Link your Farm to the Forum

-Contest Help (this post you are reading now)

All of the above can be found in the contest section of the forum.

If you have read all those posts and have followed all the directions included within them but are still having problems, post here.

2. For assistance with either a farm link or a photo we absolutely need to have your Facebook or Myspace ID number or an address to your profile. To find your profile address, go to your Profile and copy the link that appears in your address bar. Do not include your email address in your post.

Your address should resemble one of the following:

3. We are just so very pleased with the amount of players that have participated in the contests. Because of the huge turn outs the forum team needs your full co-operation in keeping everything running smoothly.

-while we appreciate all user feedback and suggestions, please do not share your thoughts or ideas here in this thread. Please refer to one of the other sections of the forum that would apply to your post the best.

Hello :) The poll hasn't been closed yet so we are not sure what it will be. On the 1st, when the contests opens, it will be announced in the top post of the contest thread.

Would you please define "Most Realistic Working Farm" in the sense is the theme to produce a working farm as seen in rural areas, mostof the facilitys would not be found on a realistic farm, they would be on industrail estate...and what type of working farm ? you can find small homes on small farms and mansions on ranch farms...farms differ in different countries....so would like a clearer definition on the theme and what is required...thanks.

Realistic like the kind of farm you pass by driving down the road in the country. Nothing is 'required', create what you think is best. We are all just doing this for fun and won't get super picky or technical about the whole thing.

I have a question about trees that are harvested. If they are part of the picture submitted, does that mean they cannot be harvested till the contest is over? Same with fruit and flowers. Thank you.

Oh gosh no. You go ahead and harvest. Like I said before, we are not going to get all technical about everything.

What we are meaning is don't COMPLETELY redesign your farm. Just so we can verify that the farm is yours it.

Unable to paste? I am not sure I understand that. The only reason I can see you not having a paste option is you didn't copy the link in the first place. Did you right click on the image in your facebook album and select copy?

I am not too sure what happened there. The link you provided in the title of the post is different than the one in the 'Edit comment'. The edit comment is a working link but not the others.

I have no idea why you wouldn't be able to post the link under your photo. You typed it into the reply box under the picture link you pasted?

Regardless, I will fix up your post so your farm link is under the picture.

No, no, go ahead and harvest and all that. We just need to be able to verify that the farm you entered is your farm and not someone else's.

I was just wondering:confused:, because I seen people post pictures of their competition's, for " real working farm ", however, I see that many dont have a real working farm, barns, animals, crops, gates, water, farmers plowing, etc..:confused: so now im wondering if we could of made our farm be anything at all, like a movie stag, or a tv show theme, but then again, it says from Farmtown, the catagory is: REAL WORKING FARM. So since you asked for a real working farm, I just entered my farm that is a real working farm, like as if we are on a real farm..etc...
I must say, I do alike alot of the others, even though they dont go with the theme you are asking us to do, and do think that one day you should do a theme of our choice compeition when this compeition is over.:D

The thing we all need to keep in mind is that everyone's idea of a 'realistic farm' will be different for everyone. It is all in the eye of the beholder. And, like it says in a couple places...

Nothing is 'required', create what you think is best. We are all just doing this for fun and won't get super picky or technical about the whole thing.

And the user's DID choose the theme. We ran a poll last month along with the Easter competition.

why not just say, any theme? Because to me, and many of my other friends, when you ask for a real working farm in quotes, and say thats the theme? Then we make a real working farm, that makes sense with animals, barns, etc... all you said on page 1, is we dont have to be picky.
So I dont get why even ask us to do the theme of a real working farm?
very confusing to say the least.
I will have to let all my friends know this, because they all wanted to do something like factory city, or make a logo, etc.. but like they all said, you asked for a certain theme. It just seems unfair thats all. :(

Go to the contest thread and give it your best shot. Follow the directions to the best of your ability. Once you have posted, if anything doesn't work out, I can most likely fix it up so you will be eligible :)

Many people voted for a theme and liked the idea. Everyone's idea of what a real working farm should look like is different. That is the reason why I said do what you feel is best. Nobody said it doesn't matter, we said we won't get super picky about it, because, again, everyone will have a different idea about what is 'right'. This is all just for fun.

A friend told me that my link is not working that I posted in my farm contest. I have figured out why but can't figure out how to fix it. When I click on my facebook profile pic, instead of saying profile id it says media/set and then there is a long number. That is the number I had used, which obviously is not the right one. Could you please let me know how to fix this or find my proper profile id so I can edit and include the proper link for the contest.

You should be able to do it yourself. Find your post and click 'edit' and then add your farm name. If you can't, let us know and one of us can add it for you :)

Hi there Sandy :) I fixed up your picture link so the pic is now visible. The problem was when you clicked on insert image you added your link to the 'http://' that is already there rather than replacing it. Having two http's in a link will break it. Easy enough fix! Good luck!

I fixed it :) All that needed to be fixed was put img instead of url in the brackets :)

I think there's something wrong with your link - if you look at the sticky on top of the contest page, there's a good despriction on how to do it.

The link should start with http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot....
not with www.facebook.com...

The facebook... link is the one on the bottom of the page where you see your farm photo - don't use that one!
Instead use the right mouse button to click on the photo,
then click on "save image location" (that's for firefox, but it should say something similar in other browers)
and use that link.

Hope this helps!

P.S.: You also need to link your farm so we can visit it - there's another sticky for that. If you follow it step by step, it should get you there. :-)

Alright, this is the 3rd time I"ve posted farms for 3 contest,,first one didn't work, 2nd one did (must of got lucky), and this one isn't right. I need to know how to get to this posted farm and change the link on it, guess that's what it is called, on bottom left corner. Anyway, it must be the wrong thing cause when I click on it I don't go to my farm on farmtown, it don't even take me to farmtown. The directions to post a farm needs to be told better, like place where it says to copy this link with bunch of 0's in it and replace them with your id numbers, fine, easy, but where do u put this link after it's all done, it don't tell you. Can anyone tell me in steps how to post a contest farm without having to run all over the place to get answers to how to post picture,how to link farm and so forth andddddd add more details on directions. Lynette, when you edit your original entry just press back space and the current picture will be removed, you can then add the correct one as you did the first time.

If you find yourself getting confused then it might be easier to simply delete your original entry/post altogether and start again with the correct picture. You will see the option to delete when you click on edit

Hi Kathy :) Once you have entered a picture into the contest thread, please don't change the picture. But go ahead and add a few new things to your farm if you wish. We need to be able to verify that the farm you entered is your own. When we visit your farm the farm needs to 'match' the picture. A few added things won't make a difference but don't do a huge remodel.

Sorry, just me, again, just looked at the rules and it reads GMT, maybe it would be better to post Greenwich Mean Time. I, also, looked up USA time zones and now I know the one I thought was GMT is really MST and USA has nine seperate time zones. See even at 65 yrs old I am never too old to learn.

Because of time differences and confusion over time zones we ask that all users give themselves PLENTY of time before the closing.

Nope, won't delete your post but I will ask that when you are supplying feedback you do so in a respectful manner. This contest is meant to be fun and to give farmtown users a chance to win some farmcash.

We chose the times we did for a variety of reasons and the contest has closed at the same time every single month since we started it, except last month it closed later because no moderator was available.

To avoid confusion you can search for an online world clock and you will see that nothing 'unfair or silly' is going on. Thanks :)

Yeah the mode give us plenty of time to post our entry. The contest started August 1 and it closes Aug. 22, 22 days thats plenty of time. I wonder why some people wait for last day or last minute to post their entry and if they didn't reach the deadline their they start take the blame to the modes.

Hi there. We strongly urge people not to do this. Sorry, it just makes it very difficult to verify the farm entries if they are changing. We prefer that the farm entered stay as close to possible to the picture that has been posted.

i posted my farm yesterday but it is not at the contest's farms....when i tried to repost i had a message saying something about moderation phase or no activation of my account...is there something wrong with my account? i lost August's contest because of the same message but then i couldn' t reply to posts....pls help me to activate my account....

A friend posted yesterday for the September contest but he received the message "Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting."He has just tried to post here for advice but he received the same message... He has verified the email from August...Actually he lost August contest for no activation and he was thinking it will be ok now....
Pls let him know what is wrong... REMOVED EMAIL
