Howdy Farmers! Welcome to the Official Best Farm Town Contest. Post your fabulous farms here for a chance to win some Farmcash!!

The Forum Team will choose four winners. First Place: 200 FC, Second Place: 100 FC, Third Place: 50 FC, Fourth Place: 25 FC.

Each contest will be based on a different theme. This month's theme is "Most Realistic Working Farm". - Refer to post number 2 in this thread for more info.

Please, do not enter your farm without reading this ENTIRE post. Thanks!

Contest Guidelines and Rules:

- Post a PICTURE of your farm in this thread. Facebook users click HERE (http://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=426258) for instructions and Myspace players click HERE (http://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=426254).

- Include a LINK to your farm in your post. Click HERE (http://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=426278) for instructions on linking your farm. NOTE: The automatic linking system is out of order. Even though, it may say 'Account Linked' at the top of the forum you will still need to include your farm link in your post.

- Include the FARM NUMBER of the farm you would like to enter and that FARM'S NAME

- One farm entry per contestant. Do not start another forum account to enter another farm.

- Your entry needs to be a picture of your farm. Do not post a picture on behalf of someone else.

- Do not 'redecorate' the farm you have entered into the contest until the winners have been announced because we will need to verify that the farm you have entered is your farm. Go ahead and harvest, plow, etc.

Hey everyone!!

Here is an example of a "Realistic Working Farm" which means: Realistic like the kind of farm you pass by driving down the road in the country. Nothing is 'required', create what you think is best. We are all just doing this for fun and won't get super picky or technical about the whole thing. Thanks!

Welcome to the Waikato, home of the Chiefs. This is a representation of any small rural Waikato township - except that FarmTown forgot to give us rugby goalposts. Farm #1 "Never Monday" (the 1 day a week I have told my boss I can't work is Monday)
The tenant farmers on 2 and 3 and the orchards & crops on 4 have made this farm very nice.

This is "Water Fall Park" (Farm 3). This month there is a wedding and a "Mother's Day" celebration there. The fruit from the trees are used in my facilities and the flowers are harvested for my Flower shop. Wouldn't this be a lovely place for a wedding? The wedding guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of the water falls during the ceremony. I hope you enjoy this park as much as I do.

Hi.. My grandmother live in a tiny iland in north of Norway, so tiny that its not on the map more than a little bug :) ... Its almost a copy of the old picture taken from a airplane, its something like this...so its the best I can do to make a farm who can live up to natural and at, sometime, dreams ;)

I'm from Wisconsin. Dairy farming is all I know. This is my original farm I started in March of 2009. This farm is based on my grandparents farm. Due to the adding of facilities, I had to make a few modifications. We had one farm on the edge of town that had a greenhouse/flowershop. It also had McDonald's and Dollar General in the same location. Many farmers had dairies. Most had a little place you could go to buy fresh cheese curds, milk, etc, but didn't have a store. Since there is no milk truck I used the truck facilty as one. Some had graineries. Forgive the liberties I took with the sugar factory. In the Spring, Grandma always had beautiful lilacs flowering around the driveway. There are no lilacs so I also took liberty with the plum trees, which look similar to flowering lilacs. Grandpa didn't have sheep or horses, but I know some farmers in the area did. The fields were behind the house and pasture. They were also across the road.
Disclaimer: I will be away from home from 5/13 - 5/20. There will be unharvested trees which will change the look of the farm. There are a lot of Maple, Oak and more pine I have chopped. BTW I will be meeting a person I met right here on Farm Town. :)

this is my submission as a realistic working farm. I dismantled my farm for awhile to get more land to grow crops on but I actually missed seeing my farm every day so I reconstructed it. Nestling in the foothills in Assam, northern India, I set up this farm as a co-operative with all profits being shared by the local workforce, supplemented every year by youngsters following the hippy trail and wanting some work. A huge proportion of our massive profits go towards establishing schools and clinics in the name of the Farm Town Charitable Trust.

In the middle of the field you will see pump jacks pumping our 'black gold'. Be sure to watch for the wildlife crossing the road! This farm shows equipment in the field harvesting wheat, and a large area of hay baling and commodity storage. Active farms in my area always have plenty of sheds and storage for tractors and other machines, and most have livestock. I included several trucks in the process of loading to take some cows to market. There is also a roadside market stand to sell the farm's produce, eggs, and flowers to people who drive by on the (unseen) adjacent road. This farming family lives very simply. Their house isn't big and fancy; but the mom loves flowers and has many planted. There are also a few horses for the children. Hope you enjoy looking over the farm of this hard working family!

Frodo was wearing his customary white long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up past his elbows, lightweight brown vest and matching breeches. He was hot and sweaty with his walk from Bag End down to Hobbiton in the heat. Surprisingly, his fair features appeared a bit sun-burnt, especially across the bridge of his nose, on his cheeks and the tops of his forearms.
"Would you believe Sam let me help in the harvest today?" Frodo grinned and crossed his arms in a gesture of self-satisfaction. It was a well-known fact that Sam didn't trust Frodo with gardening or farm work since Frodo seemed to posses a "brown thumb" when it came to plants.
"Well, this is rare indeed! Come in out of the sun and tell me about it," Iris said. They went into her office and out of the heat.
"I have been helping Sam and Rose and old Talty Fairbain in the Bag End Gardens today," Frodo bragged. "We have been bringing in the onion and garlic harvest. It has been a bumper crop this year for the entire Shire, so Sam tells me. But I think the Bag End Gardens have been exceptional."
"So that explains your smell," Iris laughed. "Don't misunderstand me. it's not bad. It's just not your typical aroma."

This is based on real New Zealand farms from my childhood memories; a few years ago, including the apple orchard, calves being seperated from the cows & the orphan lambs (to be hand feed) in the paddock by the house.

This may not meet the criteria, but to me it reminds me of a trip I did from France to Italy and all the tunnels we went through to get there. To emerge from a long road tunnel and then see the farms terraced down the steep hills, only to drive into yet another tunnel, was something I will never forget. Anticipating what we were going to see at the end of each tunnel was priceless.
