IGNORE vs. REPORT ABUSE - what is the difference ?

When you click on a farmer's avatar, you have the choice to 'ignore' or to 'report abuse'. Ignore can be used any time. Report abuse is to be used for offensive language ONLY and not for other annoying behavior. If it is not offensive language (like cursing), then click 'ignore'.

Both functions report the farmer to the developers.

Both functions will add that farmer to your blocked list.

The ignore button does not affect harvesting

The ignore button and the report abuse buttons do not affect harvesting. If you sent a hire request to a farmer, that gives them the ability to harvest at your farm. Clicking them and ignore does not affect that and they can still keep harvesting. In fact, they do not even know that they have been "ignored".

By mistake I blocked someone that was a friend

To UNBLOCK someone, click Account in upper right corner of your FarmTown game screen. Then click Blocked Users and unblock the ones you want unblocked.

NOTE: If you block a player in the game, it wll not affect what you see here on the forum. You will also need to block them here if that is your wish. If you block a forum member here, you will no longer see their posts here on the forum.

By mistake I blocked my friend or FarmTown from sending gifts to me

So you select 'ignore', the avatar disappears but never makes it to your blocked list and as soon as you refresh the game, the avatar is back. Just making sure I got this right.

There are a few things I would like you to try. May not fix this this but who knows. still stumped :cool:

You mentioned that you do clear your cache but do you also clear you macromedia cache files? This link will take you there in case you don't.

Uninstall your Flashplayer and download a new one. Rebooting your computer after the uninstall will remove any memory of the orignal Flashplayer.

Increase the amount of data Farmtown is allowed to store on your computer. To do this, go back to the Macromedia site, highlight the Slashkey file and slide the arrow to the right. The suggested setting is 1 MB. Do this after visiting your farm after the flash download.

Download and play Farmtown with a different browser than you usually play with to determine if the problem lay within the browser.

Like I said, I am stumped but these things may steer us in the right direction.

really wish there was a way to block or report someone from messages without having to go find them to click on them

got a message from a guy today level 15 telling me to get of his farm.possibly from ghosting maybe if that still happens but either way i was nowhere near him i was on my own farm and with a worker harvesting my plots

I briefly saw someone on my farm and didnt think anything of it and thought maybe it just ghosting from the market and moved with my worker to my next farm only to find the message telling me to get of.i replied to say i was not on his farm and then received a further message tonight with him calling me a freak

this is actually like cyber bullying and should not be allowed and i dont really want to appear to him on his farm to have to block and report him.ive already had a message some months ago from a user saying F U and that was disturbing enough but again i could not block him

As far as I know, you will have to click on his avatar to block him for good. I am not sure if removing him from your face book friends list or blocking him there would help. I think that on farm town, even when you remove a neighbor, you are still on their list.

There is a kid that is sending me Farmtown messages, begging for me to buy stuff. At first it was funny, but 30-50 messages a day is very annoying.
I have told him no, several times.
I have un-friended him in facebook, then blocked him on facebook.
I have deleted him as a Farmtown neighbor.
I have "caught" him at his farm, and clicked his avatar and hit ignore.
He is STILL able to message me through Farmtown...why????
How can I stop it? It's making it so I'm getting a leary of logging in to my favorite game!!!

Well I'm sure they look at the reports and it depends on what message they sent :) But if it makes you feel better to let someone know, you can click report/contact app under the game screen and report problem and you'll see an option regarding report abuse :)

I guess you misunderstood or I didn't explain it well enough :o

I got the impression you want to talk to somebody in regards to the message sent to you and in regards for them saying they reported you. I was telling you to contact FT support who takes this info. We have no control over it as we just moderate the forum.

Click the blue link 'report/contact app". It's WAY at the bottom of your screen, under the FT game.

Click it and then click 'contact the developer for help or information'

Then in the drop down select 'report abuse/cheating' and you can send the info you want there.

First, go the 'my neighbours' tab above your farm and remove them from your neighbours list. You will see the option to do so under their picture.

Then, go to their profile and scroll to the very bottom. On the left you will see 'Unfriend'. Click that link.

RandyHi, it sounds like your friend may have accidently blocked you. Ask your friend to click on "account" at the top of the game screen and checked for blocked users.

Where did you check to see if either of you have blocked each other? There are two places where blocking can take place for each of you.

The only thing you can do is ignore them. To do this you have to click on their avatar and from the menu select Ignore. Then you will not see them and will not see anything they are saying.

Hello,

The only way to block them is to click on their avatar and choose "ignore". If you get any messages from them don't reply, if they are not a buddy then then they may be using a reply from you to send you messages. Eventually their inbox will be replaced with new messages and so they won't be able to use your message to send a reply back.

Hello,

As long as you are neighbours she will be able to visit your farm. You should really have removed her as a neighbour before removing her as a friend, but you can get around this which i will explain at the end of this post. If you can catch them on, click on their avatar and select "ignore" that will stop you from seeing them and also stop them from seeing you in the future. Delete them from you buddy list and don't reply to any messages they send, if that's the only way they can visit you then eventually the old messages from you will be replaced by new ones as the message box only holds 10 messages.
If you are unable to remove her as a neighbour using the neighbours bar or the "my Neighbours" tab at the top of the game screen try this......

If you have no remove option, you can also type in this link:

Add their profile number behind "delete_id=" , paste the whole thing in the address bar and hit enter.

you need to go to your facebook privacy settings then to blocked people & apps
and remove farmtown from the list of blocked applications.

ok another thing to try is go to your friends profile aand check you are subscribed to there game posts

on the friends profile up the top right corner there is 4 buttons one is called subscribed check that you are subscribed to "All Updates" and Games is ticked.

When you open a message in the upper right corner a green dot will appear if they are on their farms. You can then go there and click on their avatar and choose block.

If someone is blocked they can still visit your farm but they should not be able message you and you should not be able to see them..

Hi you cant remove yourself from there neighbour list all you can do is visit there farm and try to catch the player there and block him by clicking on the avatar and selecting the options down the bottom of the menu.

These rooms should have a moderator...granted it is 2.30 am EST, but what about other time zones, kids may be looking for neighbors....trust me, they did not ask age, just bombarded me with rudness.....

I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened. Forum moderators have no control over what goes on ingame. Reporting the person here will not be helpful as there is nothing we can do. There is no way to boot them but you can ignore them by clicking on their avatar and choosing Ignore. Once they have left you will not see them again and they won't be able to work any more once they have left.

You will have to click on her avatar and it is in the menu. I would recommend you ignore her unless she is using foul or abusive language or making sexual advances. When you ignore then you will not see her or anything she writes in chat or messages.

the only way to report a player is to find them online and click on there avatar and select the block and report user options at the bottom of the menu.

unfortunatly at this time there is no way to report or block members from the ingame message system. :)

Well that just seems so wrong :( I would have thought a game like this aimed at younger ones as well as older ones, with a chat system in place, would have the means to be able to do something like that. It seems irresponsible really, when its on a social networking site, that seems to go out of its way to promote safety, that the games don't do the same. So essentially, any ******* can come along and groom a child and get away with it.

I had a word with my son, he said he had answered him at first thinking he was joking, but when it got dirty, reported him and ignored him....he doesn't fully realise the dangers of people like that on the internet as no children really do until its too late, and for all that man knew, he was talking to a 13 year old female. who knows what he would have gone on to say next.

If your son has Reported and Ignored him then he has been reported to Slashkey. The problem with trying to report them by email is that many may have the same avatar name as it is not unique. They can also change their avatar name so that would not work either.

I didn't know where else to post this since it's not really a support question. I'm just looking for some input on an odd situation hoping that some kind person might have an idea.. There is a person whom I do not know that sends me a note on my farm from time to time saying they "just posted". The name is no where on any list or contact method that I have in FaceBook, and certainly not on my neighbor's list. I have sent notes back via FT message asking them who they are, but have never received a response. I can go to their farm that way and that's it. The last two times it happened I tried to explain to them working in their facilities is impossible since I have no way to get there, and asking them to remove me or introduce themselves, all to no avail. I don't feel right reporting them since they never say anything else - just those two words I listed.
How in the heck can I get rid of them or at least find out who they are so I can handle it from there? I can't even block them without having a name. Anyone have a clue for me? I'd sure appreciate any ideas at all. Thanks.

Thank you for letting us know you have solved your problem. I apologise you post was originally missed.

I suspect what may have happened is that at some point in the past you may have worked for this person and sent a thank you message back, they could have used that to return a message to you. Perhaps you have the same avatar name as one of their friends and they didn't realise you were someone else. It's a shame they didn't respond to your questions in a friendly manner. If you haven't already blocked this person, don't reply to any of their messages, eventually your reply to them will disappear from their message box in game and they won't be able to use it to contact you again.

Hello,

I'm sorry but they only way to do it is by clicking on their avatar and selecting the report/ignore option. The reason for that is it's the only way to link their avatar to their account. So may people could be using the same avatar names and avatar names are easily changed.

Do not be tempted to reply to this person, or they may use your reply to send another message back. Hopefully either you will be able to catch then if it happens again, or the lack of response from you will make them think that they can't get a reaction from you so it's not worth sending another.

That may be very difficult. She pops in makes her statement and disappears. If you happen to be able to click on her avatar then report her.

There have been a lot of changes in the last couple months by both Facebook and Farm Town. I would recommend you remove Farm Town and then reload it. That should add the new required permissions and unblock it.

Refund can not be given in the forum, you to contact support by going to the very bottom of your screen below the game it says report/contact this app

It can take a few weeks for them to respond:)

Did you leave Facebook open on the laptop at home while you were at work? If so after removing Farm Town try clearing your cache, log off Facebook, close your browser, then log back into Facebook and reload Farm Town.

That is strange. Check your Privacy Settings. At the bottom of the page look for Blocked People and Apps and click on Manage Blocking. Make sure Farm Town is not in that list. If it is, click on the Unblock to the right of it.

If you look at their message next to their name at the top would be a green dot if they are on their farm. You will have to find them and click on their avatar and at the bottom of the menu is Ignore. That is the only way you can block them.

Even on Firefox? It has got to be a Facebook issue then. Check it again on your work computer tomorrow.
One thing you may need to do is check that you don't have cookies or pop ups blocked for Facebook.com, apps.facebook.com, slashkey.com, and L1.slashkey.com.

We made cookie requirements easier etc. on both home and work computers. All of our programs are updated. Computers have all working well except for this issue. On all 3 of my computers (2 home & 1 work) sometimes I can get it to work for a little while and then it goes back to the unblock app screen on facebook. I do not see how it can be anything to do with the computers. It has to be facebook, Help!

Only one I can think of that could help would be to contact Facebook. This has got to be something with your Facebook account that is either messed up or something in your settings that is causing this.

I do agree there should be a report abuse feature in the message system but at present there isnt.

the only think i can suggest is visit the senders farm when you can see there online by opening there message and seeing if the green online dot is there and if you can find the player click on there avatar and use the report abuse & ignore options.

The only way that Farm Town can do anything about this is if you can click on his avatar and select Report from the menu. This will send a message to Farm Town with his ID so they can identify the person and take care of it.

That is the way they do it, so as not to get caught. However that is the only way you can report them. There is no other way. Even if you had their avatar name it won't help because many people can use the same name.

sorry to say you cant block them without seeing them the only way you can do it is to check the messages now and then and when theres a green light go and visit them and click the report button (this way it reports them to slashkey and blocks them) ... some advice dont reply to any messages they send as it gives them access to your farm

Sorry you are having problems with a player. Unfortunately to block or report a person you have to click on their avatar. There is no other way to do it.

you do need to click on the avatar to block them ... and hopefully someone else will message them as after so many yours will disappear so they wont be able to contact you

You would have to click on their avatar and in the menu choose Ignore. That is the only way.

How did you report her? If you clicked on her avatar and clicked on Report in the menu then that should have also added her to your ignore list and stopped you from seeing or hearing from her.

Unfortunately the only thing that can be done is clicking on their avatar and reporting them. You can tell from their message if they are on line. There will be a green dot next to their name. If they are on then you can click on the little green man at the bottom and go to their farm to click on their avatar and report them. That is the only way you can get them reported.

When you report someone they are added to your blocked list. The report is sent to Slashkey. After that I don't know what happens to it. Most likely they are contacted and warned to stop.

Thanks, Taz. I know I have a list of blocked people on FB, but since I didn't know the farmer's FB name, and don't want to!, I couldn't do this. Is there a blocked list on FT? When I got his last message, I went to his farm, clicked on him, and reported him. There wasn't an option to block him, or I would have. I did not respond to his message, nor did I speak to him when I got on his farm. I spoke to me, but I did not reply. The next day, I had a "Duh" moment. If I had clicked to go off-line, I could have gone to his farm to click and report, but he would not have seen me.

Thanks, Taz. I know I have a list of blocked people on FB, but since I didn't know the farmer's FB name, and don't want to!, I couldn't do this. Is there a blocked list on FT? When I got his last message, I went to his farm, clicked on him, and reported him. There wasn't an option to block him, or I would have. I did not respond to his message, nor did I speak to him when I got on his farm. I spoke to me, but I did not reply. The next day, I had a "Duh" moment. If I had clicked to go off-line, I could have gone to his farm to click and report, but he would not have seen me.
Instead of block it says Ignore in the menu. Also if you had gone off line you would not have seen him either so couldn't report him then.

Daisy, I don't appreciate cursing either, but have never encountered it. This guy was in the marketplace when I was. Sent me a buddy request. I said no. He asked again, and I thought ok. Don't mind helping new farmers. He never asked for work. He just asked how old I was. I told him I didn't share personal information with strangers. He said that he was 30 and asked again how old I was. I got off the farm. When I got on the next time, he sent me a message again asking my age. Got off again. Next day, when I got on, I got a message IMMEDIATELY. "Hello beautiful." That made me so angry! I went to his farm, clicked on him and reported him. When he saw me there, he chatted saying he had wondered where I was, that he missed me--something to that effect. I did not reply. When I finished the reporting, I got off the farm. I just thought that quite rude and inappropriate. Made me feel like I was being stalked.
I do hope an administrator sees my message and replies. I'd like to know exactly what happens when we report someone.
Oh, Taz, just saw your message about Ignore. I always thought of Ignore as something different from blocking someone. Thanks for letting me know. I would still have reported him, though. He doesn't need to do that to anyone else.

To unblock someone........

With the game loaded, click the "Account" tab located at the top of your FarmTown game screen. Then click the "Blocked Users" tab, click "Unblock User" next to your friends name.

You will not be able to keep him from coming to your farm...however you can click on his avatar and choose either report or ignore. If it is a case of sexual harassment then report him. If it is just annoying then ignore him. Either case you will no longer see him.

This is is a question for the mods and devs, I have a neighbor on Farmtown, one evening she had issues hiring from the market place, she hired a guy but when she came back to the farm he was not showing up, so she went back to the market and hired a girl. When they came back to the farm of course the guy she had hired first showed up. The girl she had hired got extremely upset, and started cussing her out and calling her words. I would say that this is not proper behaviour, we all have issues now and again and my friend didn't do anything wrong, I have been to farms where there is like 10 workers fighting over the crops and stuff so nothing new I think, i just leave when that happens.

However since this incident, this girl keeps harrassing my friend with nasty in game messages calling her things and cussing her out. Its been over 2 wks now and she getting quite distraught.

How do we go about reporting this person?? There is no way of contacting you without posting in this forum. I tried to message one of the mods of the forum but have not yet heard anything back.

Need help now.

The only way to report or ignore someone is to click on their avatar and choose one of those options. She will have to wait and watch the messages from her and look for the green dot saying she is on line then go to her farm and click on her avatar.

A friend of mine is unable to ignore an individual that is rather annoying..Why can't she ignore him. She has tried several times but it does no work She has tried to ignore others as well and is unable to do so. Is there a way to remove oneself from another players buddy list? I know you can remove them from yours but no way to remove yourself from theirs.

I take this as spam but don't understand how she found us to send these messages. I did a screen capture of her message which was suggesting that we start using the ******* tool.

If you go to any other place then your farm like the marketplace, bank, inn, or realtors office they can follow you back to your farm and leave you a note or if you have your farm linked to the forum they can do it this way also.

The only way anything can be done is you have to click on the avatar and click on report, without doing this they can't do anything by just giving a name as it can be changed easily and can be the same as someone else.

Are they sending in-game messages or sending this by chat? If it is in-game messages you can watch that one periodically and tell when they are on their farm by the green dot. Then you can go there and click on them.

Before you removed him then that was when you should have reported or blocked him. The only way you can do that is to click on the person's avatar and selecting Block or Report from the drop down menu.

I looked at my buddy list and the only things you can do from the buddy list is leave a message, visit farm, or remove. So it looks like you have wait and if that person sends another message wait until they are on their farm and then do like Taz said and click on the person avatar to report that person.

if you have a message please do NOT reply to it but wait until the green light is on (you will have to open the message to see the light ... i think) click on visit and it will take you to his farm if he is there you can click him and report that way as well

I had a simular thing happen to me but he was being sexual and making rude comments, so on the note he sent me i clicked on the green man at the bottom and went to his farm, then i sent him a note to say i was on his farm and to meet me there for a chat. When he did arrive I clicked on his avaiator and then selected the report button. Give it a try flower. xx:)

It is not that FT won't do anything about it. If you don't report him then there is no way they can do anything. By reporting then that sends their ID to FT. A name doesn't help because they can change their farm name and the farm names are not unique.

I know that FT will do something if I report him by using the avatar menu, but not through the messaging system. I'm not a techy programmer so I have no idea of the difference between using those two elements to identify a player. Logic tells me that it must be possible but maybe it's not practical for some reason.

The msging system does identify the user cos the msg comes from that player's farm a/c even if they change their username or farm name.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting slashkey to all of a sudden jump to it and use the msging system to get this undesirable. I will do it myself through his avatar when I can get with him.

This post is simply to point out that at this stage there is only one provision to report a player where in fact there could be two.

That pest who I was trying to track down got away with it after all. I have been looking at his msg all arvo as often as possible but his light was always off. I decided not to send him a msg until he was actually on.

Well, he's gone. I bumped into an old buddy at the market and she sent me many msgs so his msg has disappeared down the gurgler, darn it!

If it ever happens again I'll know exactly what to do, that's if I notice the msg in time :rolleyes:

The only way is you will have to wait until he/she is on their farm and go to their farm or if they came to your farm, click on their avatar and click on report.

Don't reply to the message .... replying will keep you at the top of his message box, eventually it will drop off, and hopefully on his end also. If he is messaging other people, and they keep replying, then hopefully your message will drop off .... since he is blocked by you, he won't be able to access you once that message goes away.

If they have sent you a rude message do not reply to any of them, they will just use the replies to send you another one back.

You can use the green legs in the message to go to their farm. If you spot them there you can click on their avatar and choose to Ignore or Report them.

But it's making my stomach knot up and causing me duress. I understood that you couldn't be on FB if u were under 18..maybe I'm misinformed on that matter..I have played this game since the beginning and NEVER had an issue like this!! I didn't report the person on the farm because I was not aware that I had to report that way since I have never had to do this before. Thanx for letting me vent!!!!

A lot of time I find that when I go to either market and return. It seems that I bring people back with me. Most of the time I do not hire but come back with 2 or more people. I always get my avatar right up next to them and ask what do they want. Most run and hide. That makes me nuts because if they were there to work my facilities they would not run! I ask nicely a second time and if I get no answer I ignore them once they are gone I go and unblock them. I know very little about computers, but if some one tries to hide are they not doing something wrong?? Can any one explain this to me?? Thanks

We do try to get rid of spam as soon as possible. The only thing you can do is to either delete the emails or turn off the notifications of any thread you have subscribed to. You can disable the e-mails in this section*http://slashkey.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions

Hi! you are right, you have to catch the avatar in the farm and click on it, then click in report abuse. Try to keep on eye and if you see him/her on line, go to the farm and report.
You are giving his/her avatar's name but think this person can change her name everytime wanted. :)

Hi! one of the things recomended in these cases is not answer the message, in that form you are giving that person direct access to your farm.:)
