The United Nations estimated that more than 60,000 people have been killed in Syria's 21-month-old uprising against authoritarian rule. The said news that was described as "truly shocking" has been one-third higher than what anti-regime activists had counted. Regime airstrike in a Damascus suburb has pushed the death toll even higher. Anti-government activists is still continue fighting. The U.N. rights chief warned that thousands more would die or suffer terrible injuries if the conflict continues.
