Q: Can I use my tools on other farmers' farms?
A: You can use both 3x3 coin tools and Farm Cash tools to work on crops, trees, flowers and fish on other farms as long as you have placed those tools into your Item storage.
There are some other tools, like the mobile sprinkler and some of the freestyle hand designers, that you can also use, in some circumstances, on other peoples farms, but some you can not. The details for those are in each individual post for those tools later in this chapter. A quick way to know if you can use a tool when on someone's farm is to look in the toolbox. If a tool is greyed out in the toolbox then you don't have access to that tool to use.
As an employee you will only be able to use the tools owned by your employer if they have allowed it and those tools have already been placed in Item storage.
You may also need to have your own fuel to use them, unless the farm owner has allowed the use of their own fuel. If the farm owner has allowed the use of their tools and fuel you will see the information is in the hiring popup when you are offered a job.
As of
October 10th, 2024 in the hire request as well as what jobs, how many farms you are being asked to work and how much fuel the farm owner has if they are allowing the use of tools and fuel, you can now also
view a short list of the largest tools the employer has which can be useful to know if you do not have large tools yourself.
In the pictures below, on the left we have indicated with a red box both where the job offer is. In the right picture the red box shows an example of this farm owners largest tools.
- The hire is for all types of jobs on 23 farms.
- The farm owner is also allowing their fuel to be used first and it states roughly how much they have. This is important to know if you are short on fuel yourself.
If that is all the information you need to see then you can either accept the hire or reject it using one of the other 2 options in that hire offer.
To see what the largest tools are that the farm owner has, in the hire message on the left highlighted in yellow is Which of your tools can I use for this job?
Click on that option if you want to see the tool sizes which can be useful when you do not own the largest tools yourself.
You will then see something similar to what is in the picture on the right.
The job hire information has been replaced with the tools sizes.
In this case the farm owner has tools to work all of the jobs.
The crop tools are EX tools.
The tools in this example are not the largest sizes possible in the game, but are still very large.

After viewing the tools, to go back to seeing the job hire click on Can I see the job hire again?
To accept the hire without viewing the job hire again, click on Good! I'm heading to your farm now.
To reject the hire without viewing the job hire again, click on Thanks. Maybe some other time.
IMPORTANT - If you are needing to earn the bonus chest or want the extra reward for hiring, you do not want to be hired by a Neighbour or Buddy. If you have a connection as a Neighbour or Buddy that will be indicated top right of the hire message like these examples:
When you accept a hire, the largest tool you can use will be automatically given to you and some can also appear in the brown game panel at the bottom of your game screen in place of the store & gift icons.
If you aren't automatically given a tool, click on the yellow toolbox to open it and see if any tools are showing up or are dimmed out. Your tools and the farm owners tools (when allowed) that you can use, will not be dimmed out.
Please note that if you are wanting to use EX tools for working overlapped crops and you or the farm owner own them, that there is a small indicator on the EX tools when looking in the toolbox, they have a small dim grey X next to them. The largest sizes would be in the upper areas of each column of tools related to the job you are hired for.
Example of some of the largest EX tools in the toolbox:

NOTE: If the farm owner has allowed the use of their fuel you may not get to use theirs first depending on what they set the fuel allowance to. They have 3 options for fuel allowance:

If the farm owner runs out of fuel during the job, you will need to use your own fuel to continue working with out having to drop to using the x1 and x2 tools.
