THE FIX:
place the cursor (pointer/little hand) on "settings" (facebook bar ABOVE of farm town screen)
........don't click on "settings" just place the cursor there
click on "farm town settings" on the drop down bar
when it loads click "OK" the bar goes away

until you refresh OR sign into farmtown another time again
then you just do it again ;-)

You also can go into full screen mode and the box disappears - but then you realise you can not "chat" while in full screen mode.
