Default What is Storage for and where is it?

What is Storage for and where is it?

Storage is used to store anything harvested from farms, products made in facilities, for storing items you don't want to use yet and for moving items from one farm to another.

Your Storage has 2 sections, you access both by clicking on the Storage icon on the game bar. Image shown above. Then a window will open and at the top you will see:
  • Harvests & Products - You can not physically take anything out of this section. Everything in this section is either for using to make products, stocking services, trading or selling at market for profit. Some of these things can be sold to another farmer.
  • Items - Is where you can store items like tools, decorations, buildings, perhaps animals that you don't want to use at the time. Storage can be used to move them to another farm. These you can take in and out of storage. None of these things can be sold or given to another farmer.

NOTES:
  • Bait and manure for fertilizing farms are not stored in either of the Storage sections.
  • Bait when stored, goes to the appropriate waters you own.
Freshwater bait goes to Rivers and Lakes, Seawater bait goes to Sea Coasts. The exception to this rule is any bait you send to a friend when you click on their bonus post, your share goes to storage, which you can use to stock the Fishing Tackle shop if you own one or just sell at market.
  • Manure is stored with the Manure Spreader.
  • You can not store animals until you own the second farm.

Both sections will be explained in more detail later in this Chapter. For now these are the basics:

Harvests & Products Storage
  1. The storing of what you, or someone you hire, harvests, chops, fishes from your farms, with tools like the harvest tool, axe and fishing rod or bigger tools, is automatic.
  2. When you harvest your Animal buildings - Chicken Coop (the one with the green roof), Wool Shed, Dairy Shed, Rabbit Hutch, Stables) - this is where the eggs, wool, rabbit fleece, horse hair etc is stored. Harvesting animals is not automatic, you have harvest them yourself, when they are ready, either from the building on the farm or from the Facility Manager.
  3. Products you make yourself in your facilities, are not automatically stored. When you have made products in your facilities you have to click the "Store" button to send them to your storage.
  4. Any products you earned when you helped a friend with their facilities automatically gets sent to your storage.
  5. Any harvests you earned when hired to work another farmers farms also automatically goes to storage.
When you open your storage for the first time it defaults to showing you the Harvests & Products section, but if you do not see it, all you do is click on the Harvests and Products button so it turns orange. Example below:

When making products in your facilities, the crops etc needed to make that item will automatically be taken from your Harvests & Products storage to make it. If you make a product that can then be used to make another product you must store the finished product in order for it to be able to be used to make the next item. Example: To make bread in the bakery, you must have enough wheat in storage to make flour in the windmill, you then make the flour. When the four is made you must store it from the windmill before it can be used to make bread in the bakery.

The Capacity Used top left of the window tell you how full the Harvests & Products section is. More details on this and the filters top right of the window are in Harvests & Products Storage Capacity and Filters

Item Storage is where you can store items you are not using, like decorations, buildings etc. When you have more than one farm , storage can be used to move items from one farm to another. To see what is in the Item section of storage you click on the Items button to turn it orange. Example below:

Your Capacity for this section is shown top left of the window. In the above example you can see this farmer has a total of 130 spaces and has used 3 of them. In most cases, each item will use one space, but there are exceptions. In the example above you can see only 3 spaces are used but there are 8 different items showing, that is because most animals do not count as using spaces, you can store as many of those as you like. Seasonal animals like the Mom and Baby Giraffe (Mothers Day category) are classed as a decoration so those do count. So, in the above example, the 3 spaces are used by the Autumn Flower Bed, Monster Candy Holder and the Pumpkin decorations.

How Item Capacity is calculated and used is explained in more details along with information on the filters and search tool top right in Item Storage Capacity and Filters

WARNING! Be very careful if you decide to move your facilities to other farms! There is no warning that tells you that you are placing a facility on a farm that already has one on it like there is when you buy a new facility.

Identical facilities on the same farm DO NOT not produce more, the second one becomes decoration and just copies the information of what is shown in the other one so it doesn't matter which one you look in. When you look in them, they will both have the same information. The duplicate doesn't actually produce or stock anything. You will not be able to see that you have multiples of the same facility on the same farm in the Facility Manager as only one of them is actually producing or stocking items.

If you were to place a second Farm Cash facility on a farm by mistake and you return to that farm there is a warning that tells you about it. Full details about that are in Chapter 13 What types of Facilities are there?

Default Can I store everything in Item Storage?

Can I store everything in Item Storage?

Almost any Item can be placed into Item storage, as long as there is room left in your storage to store it. The Item Capacity and how you can increase it will be explained later in this Chapter. You start with a Capacity of 100 items.

When you first start playing you only have one farm so until you get your second farm you won't be able to add any animals that are on your farm to Item storage. When you have your second farm, you will be able to move animals from farm to farm as well as any other items.

The only things that can not be placed into Item storage are Fields and the Ground covers.
Fields can only be deleted.

To change a ground cover you just buy another one to replace the one you have. They all cost 100 coins except for the Grass with Guidelines (first purchase 35FC, 100 coins thereafter) and all except the Snow Cover are located at the bottom of the Paths/Ground section of the store.
The current Ground Covers are:
  • Grass (default) - what everyone starts with.
  • Grass with Guidelines (first purchase 35FC, 100 coins thereafter)
  • Tall Grass
  • Taller Grass
  • Dry Grass
  • Semi Dry Taller Grass
  • Autumn Grass
  • Light Brown Plain Land
  • Dark Brown Plain Land
  • Dusty Ground
  • Dirty Ground
  • Asphalt Ground
  • Sand Cover
  • Water Cover
  • Savannah Grass
  • Mulch Ground
  • Meadow Flowers
  • Slightly Rocky Grass
  • Rocky Grass
  • Rocky and Moss Ground
  • Snow Cover (is in the Winter section of the store, available at Level 10) The easiest way to find this one is to use the search box in the store. Start typing Snow Cover in the search box and it should pop into view.
  • If you can't see a Ground Cover that should be on your farm, make sure that in your preferences you have a check mark added to Show Ground Covers. If it is not added, add it and click the green check mark to save the setting.

Default How do I get Items in and out of Item Storage?

How do I get Items in and out of Item Storage?

There are several ways to get a single Item OR multiple Items in and out of your Item storage. Generally you have to do them one at a time. Some items you can do in bulk depending on the tools you own:

To store a Single Item or just a few of them:
Click on the item you want to send to Item Storage, then in the menu click on "Add To Storage". (remember, to add animals to Item storage you must own the second farm) Examples:

If you change your mind about storing an item and there is no Close Menu option, you can still either use the Esc key on your keyboard OR click on the green man in your game bar to close the menu.
When you are first starting out and don't have many Items in Item storage there is a warning popup that asks you to confirm what you are about to do. This will be automatically disabled for experienced users (those who already have lot of things in their Item Storage).

To store larger amounts, without having to use the Add to Storage in the menu:
Click on the "Add to Item Storage" Tool located in the yellow Toolbox, then click the item you want to store. Click on the green man to stop using the tool.

To store Items in Bulk, sending them to Item storage:
This can be done when you own the Tower Crane. When you click on the tool then click on an Item you will see a confirmation window and some options for what and how many you can store. This does not work with Farm Cash Items or facilities.

To move multiple Animals from your farm and into their buildings on that farm:
Click on the "Add to Animal Building" Tool located in the yellow Toolbox, then click the animals you want to store. Click on the green man to stop using the tool. There must be enough room in the animal building to house the animals. Maximum of 250 of each type for regular animal sheds, 500 of each type for super sheds.

To move multiple animals, in bulk, from the farm into their buildings on the farm:
You can do this when you own the Herding Robot. As long as there is room in the animal buildings for them, it will store as many as will fit.

Moving multiple Animals from Item Storage to their buildings on the farm:
You need to have enough space in the animal sheds on your farm to put them in.
  • Go to a farm that has animal sheds with space for animals.
  • Open your Item storage, and change the filter to "Animals"
  • Hover over the box with the animal in it that you want to store into the shed and you will see "Move".
  • Click "Move" and the animals will go into the appropriate shed. IF you have a lot of animals, it will store as many animals as you have room for in the shed.

To get an Item out of storage:
First you must have at least that category showing in your games preferences (eg Show Buildings) AND you must have a clear spot on your farm where nothing else is occupying that space, preferably slightly bigger than the item you are trying to place. If you can't remember what is on the farm then you need to add a check mark to all the "Show...." options in the top section of preferences so you can see where there is space to put it.

Find the Item in your Item storage then hover over the box of the Item and you will see Use, click Use to pick up the item.

When there is no room for the item to be placed the bottom of the item will be red , when the item can be placed the bottom of the item is green. Example: the barn on the left can not be placed, the barn on the right can be placed.

When you have more than one of the item, it will continue to let you place them one at a time until you either run out of them to use or you click the green man to stop placing them.

For trees and flowers it is possible to plant those, from storage, in bulk in various different patterns when you own at least one of the Multiplanters.

Default Item Storage Capacity and Filters

Item Storage Filters:

This is an example of what you could see in Item Storage:

The drop down arrow on All lets you filter your storage to a specific category. To change what you are viewing, click on the little arrow, scroll down the menu and click on the option you want.

Main Categories are:
All, Animals, Buildings, Facilities, Farm Decor, Fences, Flags, Flowers, Fun, Furniture, Motion, Other, Paths/Ground, People, Ponds, Ships, Tools, Trains, Trees, Winter.
Seasonal Categories are:
Easter, Farm Pass, Fathers Day, Halloween, Holidays, Memorial Day, Mothers Day, Saint Patricks Day, Thanks giving, Valentines Day.

The Search Icon will let you search your storage for a particular item. If you are not sure what category your item would be in make sure you have the drop down filter shown above, set to All.

To use Search, click on the icon and a box will appear that you can type in. Start typing the name of the item you are looking for. As you type, anything in your storage meeting that criteria will come into view. The arrows let you scroll up and down through the options if there are many items that include the word you typed. The red X closes the search box.

The A-Z Filter will let you sort your Storage by
  • Alphabetically
    Stored Amount

Item Storage Capacity:
You start of with an Item Storage Capacity of 100 items.

The total Capacity and Usage is displayed in the top left of the storage screen (remember this is for items only) The following example shows a storage capacity of 14120 and 1391 spaces used.

The green question mark to the left of those can be clicked on to show you
information about how the capacity is used.
  • Each item uses one space, including Seasonal Items.

The exceptions to the above rule are:
  • When it's a gift item like a Cork Oak Tree from the gift page, you can store 4 per space
(Store bought trees like a Pine tree will use one per space.)
  • You can store an unlimited amount of Animals in the Animal category, like collie dog, hens, geese, cows etc.
  • You can store an unlimited amount of Farm Cash Items.

It is possible to increase the Item Capacity by increasing the amount of neighbours you have. The amount of Neighbours you can have can vary due to lengths of farmers game IDs. You should be able to have a minimum of 117 Neighbours and usually far more than that when Neighbours IDs also contain shorter IDs.
Your Neighbour Capacity is in your Farmers Lists, top left of the My Neighbours Section.
Example:

Reaching an exact 100% is likely to be impossible for most due to the varying length of IDs.
When you can't add a farmer as a Neighbour due to the ID being too long or that the remaining capacity is not enough to add one more you will see a message that says "Your Neighbour List is Full please delete some Neighbours before adding new ones."
This may be due to the remaining capacity is either not enough to add a short ID or that the farmer ID you are trying to add is longer than the amount of capacity left.

You start with a Capacity of 100.
Each neighbour increases your capacity by 15.
Having 10 neighbours, for example, will create an additional 150 spaces in your storage (10 x 15 = 150).

Examples:
  • 0 neighbours - Your Capacity is 100.
  • 1 neighbour - Your Capacity is 100 plus 15 giving you a Total Capacity of 115.
  • 2 neighbours - Your Capacity is 100 plus 30 giving you a Total Capacity of 130.
  • 5 neighbours - Your Capacity is 100 plus 75 giving you a Total Capacity of 175.
  • 10 neighbours - Your Capacity is 100 plus 150 giving you a Total Capacity of 250.
  • 30 neighbours - Your Capacity is 100 plus 450 giving you a Total Capacity of 550.
... and so forth.

You can increase your ITEM storage further by purchasing the Super storage sheds. You can find them in the "Tools" section of the store. Once bought place them in your storage to update your Item storage capacity.

The Red super storage shed doubles your item storage capacity.
The Orange super storage shed makes your item storage 4 times as big
The Green super storage shed makes your item storage 6 times as big.
The Purple super storage shed makes your item storage 8 times as big.

Note: You must first purchase the Red super storage before you can by the Orange super storage and so on.

To get the maximum Item Capacity possible, start by getting as many neighbours as you can and then if that is not enough for your needs, also get the storage sheds.

Default Harvests & Products Storage Capacity and Filters

Harvests & Products Storage Capacity and Filters

The Harvests & Products section is where various products from your farms and facilities are stored. For example: harvested crops from your fields, harvest from your trees, milk from your cows and your goats, cheese and butter from the dairy.

Harvests & Products Storage Capacity:

The Capacity Used bar top left of the Harvests & Products section of your Storage is to help you know when that section of storage is getting full. This is your limit for the Harvests & Products section ONLY. This example is showing 80% used of 100%, so there is roughly 20% left before it reaches maximum.

If the Capacity Used bar reaches 99% at any time, you are almost at maximum! If you don't keep an eye on it and reduce it, reach maximum capacity while you are not on your farms, perhaps while working for others (farm work or facility work for example) you could lose all or some of one or many harvests/products.

You will see a brief warning at the bottom of the window that fades away when you are on your own farms and using the Facility Manager and using Store All for example. This is what the warning looks like:

To prevent this from happening, check this capacity regularly and on a regular basis also do the following:
  • Store products made in your facilities.
  • Cash out.
  • Sell anything you don't need like Non-Ingredients.
  • If you don't own all the facilities you may also want to sell at least a portion of Non-Ingredients (for me)
  • Facility Chain Export Products - If you have chains, make sure you are participating regularly in this to use up your (export) products. Remember cashing out service facilities in chains earns you a considerable amount more than selling them at market. If you can't use those up fast enough, consider selling off a portion of the higher amounts of those.

The time to check this daily is if the Capacity is showing over 95%. If you have a considerable amount of harvests/products you may want to check it before it gets that high. When it's that high, the more facilities you have, the more often you are going to need to store and cash out. If you need to, and have large amounts of anything, consider if you are going to be able to use them and if not sell half or at least a portion of them. Selling from Storage is explained later in this chapter.

The Zip button allows you to consolidate all sizes of different size boxes of products into regular size boxes. This applies to Crops, Logs, Tree Fruits, Flowers, Fish, Animal Products. It converts everything into regular size boxes. You can not convert only a specific item or a specific group of items like Crops or Logs etc.
  • This can be useful when your storage is getting near to full, as it can help to increase your capacity space (reducing the percentage used).
  • or you just want to make a quick profit in coins if you have a considerable amount of some or all of the different sizes.
  • or you just don't like seeing all 3 different sizes in your Harvests & Products storage.

This example is Blueberries but there are many other products you could have all 3 sizes for lets say you had:
  • 10 x Blueberries (gift) (Gifts from the gift page)
  • 10 x Blueberries - these are the regular size that you get when you harvest yourself or as a bonus.
  • 10 x Blueberries (Large) - what you get when you hire a stranger at market to do your work or a Super Neighbour does the work for you.

When you click Zip you will convert them all to 30 x Blueberries (regular size) and you will be credited the difference in price between the regular and large size.

If you decide to consolidate all your different sizes of products, click the Zip button. You will then see a popup similar to this, but the information in the popup will be your products and amounts:

If you change your mind you can just click the red x.

To proceed click the green check , all your different sizes boxes will be converted to regular size boxes, and you will see another popup giving you additional information about how many products were converted and what coins you were credited with for converting them. Example:

Click the green check mark to close the popup and that's it, you are done!

The Filters and how to search Harvest & Products Storage:

The drop down arrow on All lets you filter your storage to a specific category. To change what you are viewing, click on the little arrow, scroll down the menu and click on the option you want. The categories are:
  • All
  • Crops
  • From Trees
  • Logs
  • Tree Fruits
  • Flowers
  • Fish
  • Animal Products
  • From Facilities
  • Ingredients from Facilities
  • Non- Ingredients - these are anything not currently used to make a product or stock a service facility. Example: Crown of Thorns and Pink Tulips are flowers that may be used for decoration, as they can be harvested you can sell those harvests for profit.
  • Non-Ingredients (for me) - is anything that you can not use yet, as you don't own the facilities that use them. You might choose to sell all of them or part of them for profit.

Click on this link if you need information on where From Facilities(Export) products are now stored:
    https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showth...78#post6498678

The Search Icon will let you search your storage for a particular item. If you are not sure what category your item would be in make sure you have the drop down filter shown above, set to All.

To use it, click on the icon and a box will appear that you can type in.

  • Stored Amount
  • Ingredient Importance - will show products from the more important to the less important based on all available facilities in the game, not only those that you own, so for example, if you do not own any of the restaurants the Flour will still appear high in the list.
  • Ingredient Importance (for me) - will take into account the facilities that you currently own, so in this case, if you do not own any of the restaurants, the Flour will appear lower in the list and you will see in the top of the list only the ingredients that are more important to the facilities that you already own.
  • Total Price
  • Producing Facility - only available when viewing From Facilities, From Facilities (Export) or Ingredients From Facilities. This filter groups all products by the facility that produced them, so for example all the Semi Trailer products will be together, all the Windmill products will be grouped together, all the Dairy Processing products will be grouped together.

Default Selling from Storage or Gift Box

Selling from Storage or Gift Box:

When you want to sell your harvests/products/ gifts or items that are in your storage or gift box, you have to go to Market to sell them.

Click on the Map Icon and go to the Trade Marketplace (Sell and Buy). You can sell at the Job Marketplace (Work and Hire) but that one is intended mainly for those looking to hire others and those looking for work, so if you don't want to do those, it would be better to go to the sellers market so no-one tries to hire you.

You will then see a message from Tom. Click on "I want to sell my harvests or gifts" then in the second message click on "OK. Show me your prices". The second message is timed, if you do not click it your storage will open automatically.

If by mistake you clicked the wrong option or you decided to do something else in the market and then wanted to sell your goods you can simply click on Tom and then you will see the message above again.

This is what he looks like at the Marketplaces. To see the items he stands next to, you would need to have decorations, buildings and tools showing in your preferences. To see the brown ground cover for the Trade Marketplace, you also need to have ground covers showing in your preferences.

The picture on the left is the Trade Marketplace, the picture on the right is the Job Marketplace.

When your Storage opens, you will then see something like this, but it will be your products:

Top left of the window is the Total Value of what you have in storage according to which section and filter you are viewing.

There are 3 sections to choose from:
  • Storage - This is your Harvests and Products Storage, where harvests from working farms and products from facilities are.
  • Gifts - This is your Gift box. Any gifts you have accepted but not stored yet will show up here.
  • Items - This is where the items you stored from your farms are, like buildings , decorations etc.

Click on whichever section your item is in that you want to sell. When you have chosen the tab it will turn orange. The above picture shows it set to the Storage section and All filter is selected.

Selling from the Storage section:

The With Any Quantity filter allows you to filter your storage to any quantity or by quantities over 1 million or more:

Below that the All filter lets you filter your storage to:
  • All

Start typing the name of the item you are looking for. As you type, anything in your storage meeting that criteria will come into view. The arrows let you scroll up and down through the options if there are many items that include the word you typed. The red X closes the search box.

The A-Z Filter will let you sort your Storage by
  • Alphabetically - listed A-Z
  • Stored Amount - least amount is shown first
  • Ingredient Importance - will show products from the more important to the less important based on all available facilities in the game, not only those that you own, so for example, if you do not own any of the restaurants the Flour will still appear high in the list.
  • Ingredient Importance (for me) - will take into account the facilities that you currently own, so in this case, if you do not own any of the restaurants, the Flour will appear lower in the list and you will see in the top of the list only the ingredients that are more important to the facilities that you already own.
  • Total Price - least amount in coin value to most.
  • Selected - items that have a check mark in the box for selling. New Non-ingredients will automatically have a check mark unless you remove it to prevent it being sold using "Sell Selected"
  • Producing Facility - only available when viewing From Facilities or Ingredients From Facilities. This filter groups all products by the facility that produced them, so for example all the Semi Trailer products will be together, all the Windmill products will be grouped together, all the Dairy Processing products will be grouped together.

Depending on the A-Z filter you chose, there are different selling options available. You may see Sell All or Sell Selected. Both are filters that you can change to sell in different ways.
Clicking on the little drop down arrow will show you the different filters, scroll down and click on the option you want to select it.

SELL SELECTED - IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN USING THE CHECK MARKS TO SELL SPECIFIC PRODUCTS:
Be careful when using the Check Marks and Sell Selected Option when you have more than one size of a particular product. Adding a check mark to any size product WILL ALSO add the check mark to ALL sizes of that product so that when you use Sell Selected it sells all of the different sizes on every product with a check mark not just the one you added the check mark to.
You can NOT use the check marks to sell only a specific size of any products when you have more than one size.

There are 3 different sizes. Small and Large are indicated in brackets. Regular size are not. When you have more than one size of any item they will not all show up next to each other depending on which ones you have, how many of them there are, how many different products you have and the different filters you use in storage. To find a specific product and all the sizes you may have you would need to use the search box to see a specific product and all the sizes together. How to use the Search box is shown further down this post.

In this example I have used the search box to find Mustard and Carbonated Water:

The picture below shows you the different sizes and what it looks like when a check mark is added or removed from either size of those products:

If you only wanted to sell some of a particular product not all of them do NOT add a check mark to the box and do NOT use Sell Selected. Find the product you want to sell or use the search box to find several and all sizes at once, THEN mouseover each product of and you will see blue buttons appear giving you more selling options so that you don't sell all of them.

Non Ingredients, Non Ingredients(for me) will allow you to Sell All, but other options will not. This is to prevent you accidentally selling everything that you may need for your facilities.

Once you have made your choices clicking the blue button will sell those items and your coins will be added to your total.

It is also possible to sell a limited amount of Primary products from your Harvests & Products section to another farmer. For full details on how to do that see Chapter 10 of the Game Guide Buying and selling between farmers.

Selling from the Gifts section (your Gift Box):
  • You can not sell half or a portion of any one item that is in your Gift Box. You can only sell All of an item. If you wish to sell a portion you would have to store it then find it in the Storage section and then sell it from there.
  • You can not sell what is showing in your Gift Box to another farmer.
  • You can not sell any ingredients sent to your gift box, those will not show up in your Gift box at market, they have to be stored from the Gift box when you are on your farm.

You only have a Search tool and A-Z filter.

To use the Search tool, click on it and a box will appear that you can type in. Start typing the name of the item you are looking for. As you type, anything in your Gift box meeting that criteria will come into view. The arrows let you scroll up and down through the options if there are many items that include the word you typed. The red X closes the search box.

The AZ lets you sort by
  • Alphabetically
  • Stored Amount
  • Total Price

All gifts that are the same are added up and combined in the same box.
This is an example of a few gifts in the gift box:

You get 400 freshwater bait per gift, the example shows 400 so that is 1 gift.
You get 1 Fuel Tank per gift, the example shows 2 Fuel Tank so that is 2 gifts.
There are also 1 gift each of hen eggs, lamb, rose sculpture and seawater bait.
You get 15 tomatoes per gift, the example shows 120 so that is 8 gifts of tomatoes.

As you can see gifts have very little value when selling, so it's best to use anything that can be used to make products in your facilities.

Selling from the Items section:

Top right of the window the drop down arrow next to All lets you filter your storage to many different categories. Use the scroll bar to the right to see all options. These are all the categories:

If you have more than one of the same item, when you hover over the box of that item you will also have an option to sell Half. Example:

The A-Z filter lets you sort by
  • Alphabetically
  • Stored Amount
  • Total Price
