If your attitude is indicative of the users of MySpace, thanks but I will pass.
Not to start a war, but...
there are just as many upset FB posters for various issues...
not all of us on MS are nearly as vocal on issues...
due to platform issues, MS does get the shaft on a good number of things and it would be nice if we had different compensations for the short comings. Most games I play, there are obvious differences between the platforms, each has it's +/-, with FT most of the MS users have negatives, no positives for being an MS FT player...
making coins is not an easy feat either, when a facility says it will take 6 hours for 1 batch, it will take 6 hours period (facilities are not the cash cow on MS as they are on FB, they make good coin, just not a cash cow)...
the true irony here is that FB users are posting about not being able to help out on neighbors farms to inc production and get goods, fireman5214 was eluding to 'welcome to our (MS) world, where we don't get to either 24/7' (and this is not a glitch, it's just how we are supposed to function)...
we (well myself anyway) are not looking for special treatment, just perhaps evening things out between the platforms (the things that slashkey has control of that is)
Hi there, I played on Myspace for awhile then gave up and deleted my account. It is my understanding that Myspace is not helpful when it comes to playing games with limits put on areas that do effect games. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango! :)
Ummm... I've never had an account deactivated by MS for overuse. I have had 2 accounts on FB deactivated, even after spending real cash on 3rd party vendor games. FB did not care that I spent money on games from 3rd party vendors, they deactivated anyway. Not everyone has a pleasant experience w/ MS, not everyone has a pleasant experience w/ FB.
I also had a MYSpace farm which i quickly gave up because of the restraints put on you to add neighbors from MySpace....also you have to have the 20 top friends on your my space account as your neighbors and that omitted a lot of my friends that I have on MySpace as being able to read my posts .... also the game runs very slow there wow it drove me nuts....i have thought about just deleting my account there...i only go to keep up with my friends of many years..course things could of changed there now that i am no longer playing there .... my apologies if it has...
This one I have to agree with. Which is really weird when you consider that all the other games I play, FB is way more restrictive compared to MS. I have over 1000 cyber friends for gaming w/ other programs, but FT is extremely limited on MS for some reason. As for game speed, I have not noticed any appreciable lag.
Why do you still have to have 30 neighbors to unlock the 3rd farm. I've never had 30 neighbors nor will I. None of my friends will ever have 30 either. I just don't understand how you can actually buy the 4th farm now but you can't just buy the 3rd. It makes no sense. I can't afford to buy the Farm Cash and who knows when there will be new levels.
So basically it just screws the peolpe that won't be able to get 30 neighbors.
If you don't want to add strangers permanently, then I would suggest that you save enough coin to upgrade farm 3 to a 24X24. Go to the "add neighbors thread". Add all the strangers you need to get to 30, buy and upgrade farm 3, then delete the neighbors off your FB account. I don't delete cyber friends, even if I don't know them unless they get weird on me. I have, however, had multitudes of people drop me after they got what they needed.;)

I messed around some too, but I'm not a graphic design expert. I've yet to submit mine because I just created from paint program and have no clue what the PSD and AI source files are...
Maybe I'll submit them anyway, the worst they could do is delete the email. Who knows, maybe someone at slashkey could get a good laugh out of it too:D

I understood that, my point was referencing the fact that: your understanding is that Myspace is not helpful when it comes to playing games with limits put on areas that do effect games.(slight paraphrase)
I lost 2 FB accounts because of limits FB put on games. Yes it is their platform and they have their TOS and users need to follow their TOS if they wish to continue using their platform. After spending money on other games and loosing the accounts, I no longer wish to use their platform.
My point was that for every user that refuses to use MS for whatever reason, you will easily find an equal number of users that feel the same way about FB. I'm not bashing FB users, just throwing out some facts is all.

why is the fourth farm so much more expensive than what the other ones were?
I am level 80 and had 22 million dollars, until I invested in the fourth farm. now I don't even have enough to do an upgrade on it. guess it will motivate me into working harder to make more coins. Before I thought I had so much, I was focusing on the points, in case theres another level up grade, I would be ahead of the race. so in order to do a big POINT turnover, I planted cheap stuff to get it out faster. now I have to focus on pineapples and such for the big COINS. Just change things up a little. its all good though. Love my farmtown!!!

why is the fourth farm so much more expensive than what the other ones were?
I think it's because many of us at level 80 (myself included) were reporting loss of interest due the lack of a goal to work toward, and seemingly no point to continuing to amass the huge amounts of coins our facilities earn. So I'm happy it's expensive, I was sad to reach the "end" of the game, and now have something new to work for. Currently have a 20x20 Farm 4, which is just space to play with decorating since I'm comfortable with my level of growth and production on the other farms (I do use crop layering, the technique is described in a thread in the social forum).
Also, regarding adding FB friends to get FT neighbors: FB allows you to set up "friend lists." All the people who are just my friends to be FT neighbors are on my "farm town" list. You can restrict what people on a particular list see about you and what you see about them. I primarily use the list feature in that I only post my work-my-facilities requests to my FT list, my other friends aren't bothered with them.

I agree with you calliopejane. Its like I was saying, I was caught up earning the points (in case there is a level upgrade?? anyone know??), that I wasn't earning much money---planting cheap crops to do a fast turnover for the points. Now I am taking a different strategy and planting the high dollar crops to earn more money, to upgrade my fourth farm. it gives us something to do instead of feeling like we're at a dead end. so I agree. thanks so much for responding! :) I haven't tried crop layering, will have to look into that. thanks!

The way animals are packed together in some layouts (due to fact animals cannot be moved between farms), I'm thinking that vet is needed LOL

Yes in both regards. I was under the impression that when you received help from your neighbors that the production time was decreased. I was unaware that the cap was set at a single day of production. If I understand you correctly, you get help from neighbors to speed up production, but MS and FB are equal in that the facilities will only produce so much per day, whether it be done in the 1st hour w/ help on FB or over the entire day as the devs designed on MS...
If that's the case, then I retract my previous statement about facilities being a cash cow on FB and not on MS.

FT said they were going to up the levels, but nothing so far, with all the new facilities it takes no time to level up, soon you'll have everyone on 80 and no where to go, so the app will die

The limit is - in most cases - 15 days production. With a few exceptions (the ones above 3000 units) then 30 neighbors can empty the facilities. So if I fully stock them and 30 neighbors come over and work, I get 15 days production per day. Add in another 90 neighbors and I fill my facilities 3 or 4 times a day. Super major cash cow.
MS users are stuck with the production of the facility alone.
So, not, its not the case. MS farmers can't get the production that FB can.

As someone who has been playing almost since the beginning, What a complete waste of time. The 4th farm is just as useless as the 3rd farm. You cannot buy any cool stuff without farm cash and you cannot get more farm cash without shelling out real money because no new levels have been released in quite a while.
Before ya'all jump on me I did support the developers and bought $60 worth of farm cash to help my sister get going and to fully upgrade to my 3rd farm when it became available. I really hoped we would get another reason to play. Facilitates are cute but a waste of time, you have to spam your wall for gifts with lots of 'em.
Now we can show everyone how much time we've wasted playing Farm Town by maxing out the 4th farm to the tune of 75,000,000 coins.:o

Ok, those of you with lots of pineapples need to look me up for harvesting so I can someday afford farm TWO, let alone farm FOUR!! Seriously, I haven't been playing all that long but I, too, am completely addicted. Find myself waking up in the middle of the night saying, wait, did I plant grapes again??? Too much fun, and the only dirt under my fingernails is virtual! - thanks, Slashkey! (But if you could just fix that receiving-gifts problem, I'd be happier than a hog in slop...)

That's kind of what I thought. On the flip side, we have much, much less land issues. With proper planning it does not take long to get and keep facilities at 15 days of production :D
Soooo, it may take awhile to get farm 4 fully upgraded, but I guess I really don't need farm 4 anyways:rolleyes:

On adding to facilities... I usually get a couple of people to show up right off the bat, and as soon as one hits the facilities, I'm refilling it back to the limit for the next. This gets a lot done in a short time period.
thank you for release ..... But i dont forget the factory Ground Cofee..

Is hiring folks to work at facilities only on the Facebook version? - I can't find it on my MySpace account(s). (Ok, yes, I confess, I have 6 MS farms and one FB farm - one of those "other" farms, too, but that's not nearly as much fun. :D ) Also, I know having more than one oil rig doesn't make you more crude, but I see people with more than one of a facility (juice factory, etc.) - does each one make money? Would I be well-advised to buy multiple factories? (I have a humongous backlog of tomatoes waiting to be juiced!) Or just diversify? I have juice on one, milk and sugar on another (future plans for the bakery), small windmill on most, and chicken coop/cattle barns where I have room. One's doing the flower shop (the farm has a "nature" theme) but that's a very slow turnaround until I get a bajillion more flowers, lol. Desperately wish I could afford to buy Farm Cash, but no joy on that for a while... at a buck a day income, it's gonna take forever to get a second juicery. Ah, the frustration! lmao
JustHikk
Jun 02 2010, 02:38 PM
You can't hire to work in MS facilities right now.
To get double production from facilities, put them on different farms. 2 Oil rigs on one farm will only produce as one oil rig. Place one on farm1, and one on farm2 and they produce independently. Save the tomatoes for pizza/tacos/sandwiches, they are a better return on your coins.

Thank you for all the new releases! The new facilities are great. I can't design myself but was hoping someone would design a fish market or a sushi resturant for the contest. For the sushi resturant we already have all the fresh and saltwater fish, rice, onion, carrot and ginger. The seaweed and wasabe could come in the form of a gift. Please give us something to use our fish with. Thanks again for the great work Farmtown!!

Bought the 4th farm as soon as I noticed the release. Been a good farm Towner picking and plowing up a storm and now it paid off. I spent 40 bucks to get more farm cash, a small price for so many hours of fun. I think many peeps would gladly continue to pay for a 5th and even a sixth farm. I need more crops now that I have purchased more facilities and remade my farms.
I love the game. Keep the updates coming. If you offer it, people will buy it.
I did.
I have to agree, I did the same thing and no regrets. This is so neat for the shut in, which I am, so I consider price reasonable for my entertainment.

Yes, DoubleT - you are correct.
the night before, I had just said to a neighbor, "Why on earth do I have all these coins!??" Well, F4 came out the next day.. I got it, expanded it to the hilt. Went down to 23 million coins! :D poor me, lol. ;)
Happy happy!
But the animals, the animals. I finally sold off my 89 cows! Couldnt hide them, couldn't put em in storage or move em, and they slowed down work on the farm sooo terribly! I can get milk as a gift, so gave up on keeping cows. Sigh. Probably now you will fix that too!
I am sleepless and worn out from farming day and night.
Bless you all; devs, mods, and all the great players and friends I have met. Only game I play!

Well, I started the first one on a lark as a friend recommended it enough times to pique my curiosity... then I needed more neighbors so I added it on other accounts... then I wanted to design each place around a different theme so I added another account... It's sorta like Lay's Potato Chips - betcha can't eat (or farm) just one! Only at level 31 on my highest account so it'll be a while still before I can add farms that way, so how else am I to satisfy this overwhelming need to FARM?!?! (Yes, I laugh at myself constantly, but it's ok - my family laughs, too. :D )

However, with the lastest release, I'm not seeing my neighbors request for help in their facilities.. once in awhile one will pop up but they will be a day or so out of date. I have also lost a lot of crops when trying to move them from the facility to storage. I'm afraid to click on storage now because they just vanish. I don't know exactly what I've lost except one FULL farm of wheat -- never made it to storage. I've certainly lost a lot of other crops but don't have the numbers.
I'm sure this will be taken care of soon. Thanks for the help.

As for not seeing your neighbors' requests for help in their facilities....be sure you click MOST RECENT at the top of your News Feed each time you go into Facebook. That might be why you're seeing their requests a day later.

I have 63,000 units of fuel sitting in my fueling station, from the refinery etc, and when I go there it runs through the list of where it's come from gives me the total I click refuel now and nothing happens. No fuel added.I have cleared my cache and cookies any other suggestions? Is this happening to other people.

Do the math manually (by going down the list) and make sure its trying to give you 63,000 and not 163,000. The Fuel Tank for the equipment has a limit of 99,990 and if you exceed that, it won't fuel. If that is what is happening, your only option is to sell fuel to get back below the limit.

If you refuel you are supposed to end up with 63,000 units? If that is correct, its a glitch. The only thing you can do is try selling one or the other and see if it lets you refuel. I would sell the refinery fuel first since it is worth more coins and try it again. If it still won't let you, sell the other fuel tanks and go from there :(

You can avoid "spamming" your FT Wall by setting up a list of your FT neighbors and sending the requests for gifts only to those people using the Customize option in the message and selecting Specific people and typing in the name of your FT list. The request will show on you wall only to those people who are on your FT list. You'll see it, but FB friends not on you list won't.
Now we can show everyone how much time we've wasted playing Farm Town by maxing out the 4th farm to the tune of 75,000,000 coins.:o

thank you for release ..... But i dont forget the factory Ground Cofee..
Why ground coffee is required for making coffee ice cream, I couldn't figure at first. I mean, that would taste awful. Then, duh, decided we were supposed to use our imagination and think that the coffee was brewed into a very strong cuppa and used to flavor the ice cream.
Since coffee could be "served" at the bakery and sandwich place, though, it still seem that there should be an option to grind our own.

I have sold the refinery fuel wondered why I could have a large amount last time but not this.

This game has a way of pulling you in. Like everyone else, I played until I accomplished a few goals.. then I just HAD to reach another one and I got so involved that I forgot about eating and those mundane things - I just turned into a farmer! I was ALMOST to level 60 - which was my ultimate goal when they added 20 new levels! Now, tell me, how could I possibly just walk away? The answer is.. I can't! Next thing was to get to that level 80. I really didn't want to get there though because I couldn't imagine what "life" would be after 80.
That's when they started adding facilities. No way to stop now - had to have them all... and now I see there is much life after 80!! New facilities, new challenges and now 4 farms!!
The only thing I can wish for now would be the ability to move my animals to one of my other farms. I guess I could start all over and build them back up on another farm... that would be yet another challenge. It just doesn't stop. I do think they need a huge warning stating that this game not only could be addictive - it IS addictive!!! I'll admit it, I am a FT Addict!:):)
I broke my toe playing farm town!!! I had a harvesting job and I was really really thirsty. So I ran into the kitchen to get a drink and while I was running back my pinky toe caught the ottoman!! My poor toe was sideways but I finished the harvesting job while my partner propped me up with ice and and taped me up:)

Hey there,
We just released a new version of FarmTown with the following features/fixes:
1. You can now buy a 4th farm. The requirement is to have a 3rd farm. These are the prices in coins and farm cash:
12x12 farm: ......... 4MM coins ..... 40 fc
14x14 upgrade: .... 1MM coins ..... 20 fc
16x16 upgrade: .... 2MM coins ..... 20 fc
18x18 upgrade: .... 3MM coins ..... 20 fc
20x20 upgrade: .... 15MM coins .... 20 fc
22x22 upgrade: .... 20MM coins .... 20 fc
24x24 upgrade: .... 30MM coins .... 20 fc
2. The Sea Coast items (big and small) are now also available for the opposite sides of the farm
3. When you sell a product in the Market, the window doesn't scroll to the top anymore, making it easier to sell products
4. Some users were losing products because the harvest/product storage was full, we increased the size of the storage but it's not unlimited, when the harvest storage is about to get full, we will show a message to the user so they can sell or use some products to make some room, now with the scroll issue fixed, it should be easier to sell products.
5. We have another Farm Cash Offer on the top of the game for users who have some design skills or know someone who has those skills. If those users want to spend some time designing some items for the game for them and others to use they will get 100 farm cash for each item. Check the offer page for more details.
Enjoy!

It might have something to do with that stupid favorite friends thing facebook does. My husband posted a work request that I couldn't see. When I went into my preferred friends tab he wasn't highlighted but other random people (old classmates, co workers, etc) were. I had to go to his farm to see his work request.

It's working normal, I'm afraid. If you want to produce oil faster, recruit your neighbors to work in the refinery. That'll speed up the 'slick' process.

The limitation is on the Oil Pump. It is limited to 28 barrels of crude oil per 7-day period, averaging 4 barrels per day. Each barrel of crude oil makes 4 fuel tanks in the Oil Refinery. Thus the net limit on fuel comes out to 4 barrels per day x 4 tanks per barrel is 16 fuel tanks per day.
I find that is more than enough to seed all four full-size farms.
What I do not like is that I can sell the fuel tanks in the marketplace, but I cannot gift them from my refinery (only from send gifts).

First, go into your storage and see if you have more than one fuel icon listed (Hopefully, you have received a few as gifts, which will be listed separately from the fuel you have produced). If you do see more than one fuel icon listed in the storage, check the amounts of each and sell the one with the least amount. This may bring your amount down to a point the game will accept the refuelling you're trying to achieve. If not, you're stuck with having to sell all your fuel. The reason is, the game doesn't allow fueling past 1 million. Good luck! I hope it works out for you.

You get the crude oil from the oil pumps takes 6 hours to get one barrel then you store the crude oil then add it to the oil refinery to produce with out help it takes 6 hours to make 4 fuels. Now you can sell the fuel or use it to refuel.

You can have an oil pump on each farm and all 4 can produce 4 barrels of crude oil a day which can be added to the refinery to make 64 fuel tanks a day with help. That works out to be 19200 fuels a day that is a lot.

The fourth farm is kind of moot for me since the glitch that caused the loss of half my neighbors means that I can't get a third farm (since so many of those neighbors no longer play or have switched to Farmville, only a couple accepted my neighbor request). And I don't wish to have strangers as Facebook friends. (Nothing against other Farm Town people; I just don't know them). I wish you could either have neighbors who were not FB friends and have the Buddy List count for neighbors.

I never post anything much more personal than a comment on the weather to my FB Wall.
I look at FB like a local coffee shop -- a great place to say "hi" and exchange a little casual conversation, but not the place to share or discuss anything truly personal. Also, it's possible to only answer a few very basic questions when setting up a FB account. No need to give real birthdate, which is sometimes used as identifying info with our banks and such so not a good thing to make public. No need to enter a specific location. No need to enter educational or work details. True, a smart and determined hacker could probably use FB as an opening to backdoor into our computers and obtain info about us, just as they could use any social networking or list group site or blog; but I'm thinking that most of us lead pretty routine lives and thus aren't primary targets for the serious hackers.

Oh, gosh, is Paint still as bad as it used to be? I'm a Mac user and have been for a number of years so haven't seen the newer versions of MS Paint.
Would Adobe Photo Shop possibly work for doing graphic images? I use it for photo card and brochure images, but not being a creative artist, never tried doing anything from scratch in it.
I have some ideas for a small town general store building and small town restaurant building, but doubt I've got the talent to draw them. If anyone else wants to take on these as design projects, that would be great.

Farmville is listed among Time Magazine's "50 Worst Inventions". Meanwhile, you won't find Farm Town anywhere on that list. So, hats off to the devs of Farm Town.

LOL! Actually, I did need Time Magazine to tell me. I've never played Farmville. I've always been dedicated to Farm Town. :)

A few weeks ago, while working I had turned the television set on to catch the news & weather and was half listening. What caught my attention was an on-air therapist talking to a woman and daughter about the woman's "addiction" to Farmville -- getting up an hour early to harvest so the "pretend crops" wouldn't "spoil," deferring doing household tasks to "farm," etc. The therapist advised the woman to quit playing any computer games altogether and interact with her real family, friends and neighbors and get back into the "real world." He was very critical, not of virtual activity games themselves, but of people who use them as a substitute for interacting with people in the real world.
However, the games took lots of criticism along the way as childish, silly, etc. The only farming game mentioned by name was FV, but I'm not sure that FT wouldn't have been on this therapist's list too. He seemed to have little tolerance for anything "virtual."
My opinion is that when one can be creative with designs, as in FT, the application moves out of the cartoonish or virtual realm of game playing and can be a fun leisure activity that stimulates imagination and creativity, as some of the quite varied layout designs here illustrate. No different from model railroading, creative needlework and many other non-computer activities people enjoy. Also, by interacting with other family members and friends (on and offline friends), the game does have a real life social aspect, just as other games do.
Oops, long comment here LOL

As a retired old man, thank God for FT. It keeps me off the streets, out of the bars, and away from shopping and spending money. I love this game.

If the woman had such a bad habit she was ignoring everyone and everything around her, then he was right to make her quit cold turkey. But my shrink says it's perfectly all right to play the games as long as you stay in touch with the real world. :p

I am wondering about the levels also. Wonder if they only added 10 because the steps were made bigger to get to new levels.

My son and daughter in law live over a thousand miles away now, and we keep in touch through both computer methods and telephone ..... but she also has a farm and she and I link up on each others farms for a chat at times. Strange as it sounds, it is the times that our little avatars are standing together on a farm having a chat that we feel closest together from a long distance away in the 'real' world.
Now if we could just have a 'sit down' mode for our avatars we'd be all set.

Does anyone know which pair of facilities are the most profitable? Like it seems it takes 2 facilites for 3 of them now: winery, cloth, and fuel. Which pair is the best. I can't buy all of them.

Does anyone know what you can do with the crude oil, if you don't buy the oil refinery. Can you sell it?
Lavenda
Jun 07 2010, 07:53 PM
yes Cynthia, you can sell it. Costs 1000 to produce, sell it for 2000, 1000 coin profit per barrell

Love the scroll fix when selling but I can't understand why the upgrades for the 4th farm jump from 3 million to 15 million but there is no significant jump if you cash.
