Does anyone have the sewing facility. I would kind of like to see the details of its productions before using my farmcash to buy it and haven't noticed it yet at any neighbors farms.
I managed to get mine last night, it is on my third farm in the mess of facilities in the bottom corner. I've also updated my data sheet with very nearly complete stats on the sewing mill if you wanted to check that out too

The legal age for Facebook is 13. You can sign up for your own account at that age, but I know a lot of kids that get one by just making up a fake birthday. I don't have a problem with younger kids having an account, as long as it's monitored by their parent.s
Last time I checked it was 16. FB certainly needs to be monitored by parents for younger uses

Is there a chart somewhere that tells which facilities are the most profitable coin wise? Which ones take the least amount of clicks, or loading to make coins? For example, anything that produces in one hour is going to take lots of clicking if you want to put 15 days worth in. However, perhaps one makes alot more coins for doing all that clicking. It almost seems like the fuel one would take teh least amount of clicking and make the the most coins, but I really don't know. Has anyone figured this out and posted it?

Last summer, my youngest son wanted to set up a page so he could play FarmTown with me (at the time he was 11). I did just that. Gave him a fake age..and monitor his page and his friends. He doesn't even use his real name. It works out pretty well, but parents DO have to monitor the page.

I think one way to keep level 90 interested is to make FT more social..for instance..if I am on another farm, let my friends visit the farm I am working. Also it would be great if any farmer could gift anything that they own to another farmer. FT wouldn't lose any money that way, even if it is something that cost $$$. Someone has to spend the $$$ for the items priced in $$$. But the farmer that gets the gift can't use it until they have the level needed.

This game is so far superior to FarmVille. Just don't make us start begging each other for **** like they do on there.

I have 31 FC to spend. I am debating between the Sewing Mill and Wine Cellar. Has anyone crunched any numbers to determine which pays off better in the long run?
LoreneC
Jun 09 2010, 11:05 AM
I haven't crunched numbers but the wine cellars requires grapes only, no animals. I already have cows and hens, don't want lots of sheep. That is how I made my choice!

At level 90 how can one earn more $'s to buy things that cost more than just coins? When the levels increased I was credited with $10. Can't you come up with a way to add $'s for every 10,000 xp points? I have 4 farms, millions of coins and want things that cost $'s instead of coins. Why can't I trade coins for $'s?

I love the new updates; however, today when I harvested flowers, LOTS of them... they did not go to storage. I planted only the ones needed to make flowers bouquets in the facility. Little bit upset now because the field looks ugly and I got no return on my flowers. =(

If you turn crude oil into fuel it sells for 1200 coins I turn it into fuel so I can use it.
If you are looking to make a profit it would be better to sell the barrels of crude oil, cost 1000 to produce sells for 2000.:)

. Wine Cellar (30FC): Allows you to produce Aged Wine Bottles out of the non-aged Wine Containers that you produced in the Winery. The aged wines can be:
- White Wine Bottles aged 1 and 2 years
- Red Wine Bottles aged 3 and 4 years
- Champagne Bottles aged 5 and 6 years
How the heck to I get the wine, and some containers or what its was - come a message just when I bought this lovely house :)

Could I ask, please, why there is a new popup window when you try to send gifts to your neighbors that wants my email contact information for people not on facebook, purportedly to send them gifts that they did not want, need or ask for?? Clicking on cancel for the requested information drops you to a screen that says you can't send gifts without permitting access to my email contact list.....

I guess you need a winery? And you need to grow purple and green grapes to make the wine.

I sincerely think the wine cellar is more profitable. For example, you can make 7,000 to 75,000 per batch and you are in control of planting which grapes you want. It takes longer for the more profitable batches to produce without having friends help, hence why it sells for more.
Waiting on sheep and llamas and cotton to become ready then producing textile rolls and clothes would probably take just as long, and batches of clothes run for 1250 to 3150 (most is the wedding dress, which requires 5 mulberry tree harvests per silk roll).

yeah this glitch isn't short-changing anyone's crops, it is just a little annoying and I am sure it should be happening (and if it is - can something be done so it doesn't happen?)
It is messing up my daughters crops. Every time I harvest her fields I am getting her crops instead of her. Every one that it gives me comes out of her inventory/storage. I don't think it is the glitch (not clearing crops) that is causing it but something is.

Hello, its just great with all the new updates!! YeePee!!
NOW, when I go to hire people to fish they are frowning on it, and many are saying they don't benefit, cuz they don't get xp points.
They don't like to do flowers, fish or do trees, cuz they don't get xp points,
MY question is, or suggestion is maybe they can get xp points according to the quantity of flowers, fish or trees done.
Just offering some idea.
Love ya guys, you are the bomb!!

I have meet a number of very nice people. While a lot of people, including me most of the time interact in the way that you have described, but the opportunity to learn and interact with others is still there to use for those who chose to use it.
Most of my Buddies and some of my now neighbours began as strangers who hired me when I first started, and now I have some new friends all over the world. We may not talk often, but we all enjoy the occasional catch while we play Farm Town together.

What about NOT allowing us to send or to receive gifts unless we "Invite" no Farmtown players? This regulation makes "playing" a hassle and it is not fun anymore. Is there another way of getting or sending "the gifts?"

the harvesters share of the crop shouldn't come from the hire-ers takings, the mayor should be paying it. I haven't been able to check, but I have a feeling that what is happening is you need to refresh for everything to show up, those lingering fields will show as harvested and appear in your storage when you have refreshed

I can just as easily do my own plowing and harvesting. The only reason I ask if others want to do those chores is to give them, especially the lower ranked players, a few extra coins here and there. There are times when I wish I had not hired anyone because they make such a mess of it especially the "scatter" workers who leave a dozen or more unworked plots because they are careless. So If it comes out of my share I will start to do it myself again. Can we get a definite answer on how this is programmed?

the 10% thing isn't very accurate. I have a 15 field area of grape tomatoes. Twice it has been harvested and the harvester has not received any, yet with my four cabbage fields they have received 2! I will be paying closer attention to harvesting, I need every harvest I can get so I am not really wanting to give it away just so I don't have to click so much.

Here is a quote from the announcement:
"When you work for others to harvest crops, trees, flowers or to fish, in addition to the coins you get, the Mayor (not from the harvest of the employer) will compensate you with a share of the products"
So it is not suppose to be coming from the person doing the hiring. Didn't check myself to see if it was working like it was suppose to or not.

What is the incentive to hire someone to harvest if it takes away from my crops. I was doing all my own harvesting and thought I'd "share the wealth". Not sure I want to give away the bank. Please let me know if this is really true. Avid Level 90 player for over a year.

just done a closer study on the harvesting. Before hiring someone to harvest my wheat I had 15 wheat and 6 large wheat in my storage. After the harvest of 55 wheat fields, where six fields were "terminally harvesting" and my harvester received 6 wheat, I had 15 wheat and 55 large wheat in my storage. After refreshing I had 15 wheat and 61 wheat large in my storage. Same thing happened with the broccoli, what the harvester received didn't initially appear in my storage but it did after refresh (and from 56 broccoli fields they only got 2!). I am satisfied now that things are as they should be, as they were first stated in Rauls post and he has reconfirmed with an update to that post, it just takes a while for the whole harvest to appear in the farm owners storage.

Go to the My Neighbours Tab and send gifts individually to each FT Neighbor. In the request you can also enter a message requesting what you would like as a gift. ... Yes, I know it's a slower process, but if you gift according to what each FT Neighbor wants or could use on their farms, it works out and avoids the problem of the popups on the Gifting option.

Hi - I love many of the changes - addition in levels, ability to earn "cash" again, and new crops. Also, I like being able to hire people to fish. I have a problem - when I go to my facility and click on "Pending," it says things are 100% done when they aren't - it'll transfer them to my storage but won't sell them. They go right back to the facility or only a little bit is sold. What on earth is happening? Genie, Flying Pig & Danselin's Goat Farms & Assoc. Enterprises

If you turn crude oil into fuel it sells for 1200 coins I turn it into fuel so I can use it.
If you are looking to make a profit it would be better to sell the barrels of crude oil, cost 1000 to produce sells for 2000.:)
it makes 4800 if you convert from crude to fuel
each barrel makes 4 fuel cans
profit 3800 compared to 1000

Yes!! The graphic designers have done a good job this time on the winery - thank you!!
I must say I'm also impressed with the watermelon wagon too..its so well detailed, down to the stripes on the melon skin.. (But the size of the wagon might be a bit too big?)
The textile mill looks a little too 'factory'ish to me - i was expecting a little village mill look..but you cant win them all..But I have to complain about its size though. The design suggests that its a big factory, 3 storeys high etc but in terms of size, its about as big as a cottage..

Golly, the relative sizes of the trees is way off.
The types of fish in the brooks, ponds and beach are not always what one finds in nature [are they? a small pond might have small sized fish ?]
since we are using a "Beta" version, perhaps when the non-Beta version is issued ALL items will be "full grown" and sized according to what one sees in nature.
I do hope that my avatar can have more options.

Raul is what I think they are calling I am happy with everything, but I can not upgrade my fourth farm. For over a week I have been asking for help. I have the cash I have the neighbors and all the other farms. I tried to link my farm to the forum no one told me if it was right. So one more time PLEASE let me upgrade, it is still locked.
I counted earlier today and had 121 fields of whatever it was. I got all 121 when it was harvested and I asked the harvester, who I knew, if she got her 10% and she did - so it didn't come out of my pocket as it were.

I put trees and shrubs at the front of my textile mill to which softens the appearance. My suggestion had been a village mill/cottage industry look too, but doesn't seem that is the direction the programmers are taking for most of the factories. I'm happy with it since it isn't cartoonish.

Each of us protested as you have.......when it became obvious that Slashkey was not going to relent we all went out and found the necessary neighbors if we did not already have them. It's been quite a while since that topic was even brought up. There is a thread in the forum for farmers looking for neighbors. Most are very nice and more than willing to become your neighor.

Hi,
Love the improvements. My biggest frustration is not having FarmCash. I have over $25million in coin. Can't spend it. I play for fun. Would love to go to the bank, and purchase FarmCash with my Coin. Doesn't need to be 1 for 1. I am not receiving all the free FarmCash from the silly thing I give out personal info on. Wanted Insurance info, never heard from anyone, no e-mails, no call ... no FarmCash. Hard to stay motivated if I can't grow.
Thanks

:mad:Ever since you updated FarmTown with the newest version I've had trouble with incomplete loading and most importantly, once loaded, my screen repeatedly displays the message "Connection to server timed out, click green arrow to reconnect." Upon looking at the connection icon...I am still connected!! If I click the green arrow, the next screen to show is "Internet Explorer cannot access this website." I then have to refresh and may or may not be taken to my opening FarmTown screen. A moment ago I logged into the game and immediately received the "green arrow" message. It's gotten to the point that I can't play the game. Please don't tell me to clear my history cache because I do that several times while playing.

I agree IE is prone to errors all the time and either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are better browsers for applications on Facebook!

Way fun, thanks! I had finally reached 80, not by trying that hard after 8 months of playing. Now, oh my, I have ten more levels to look forward to! I submitted a flower design too, hope they like it!
For those who get bored, use the bulldozer and start over or just remodel a bit with new structures, crops, trees. Life is about making changes and trying new things. Start here. :-)

Great job Dev's!!! The newly introduced way of farming makes it more interesting. Don't think I have the hang of hiring someone to fish yet..tried to but mothing on the menu to click on that I could see?! I am suspecting that we, at some stage, will be able to purchase a fish restaurant? Mmmmm...lovely fish n chips :)

I have read a number of posts concerning FT$$
1- don't have enough to buy things
2- can't earn enough
3- want more NOW
4- not fair to upper (or lower) levels.
Suggestion:
A unique "Money Crop" to plant and harvest,
1- Let a farmer choose to plant a VERY expensive crop that may take 4 days (or 7) to harvest.
2- There would be very little return from the harvest.
3- Perhaps the farmer would have to harvest and plow it themselves.
4- Perhaps the number of squares would be limited to x-number per week or month
Example.
I want more FT$$.
So I plant 500 squares of "Cash Cabbage" (pun intended)
It costs me $500 coins per square ($250,000)
It can be harvested for $10/sq (no one will be interested except the planter)
Inventory can be taken to market and "sold" for $5 or $10 FT$$
I can do this every 7 days or so.
thoughts??
by the way... I have two emails, 2 sets of 4 24x24 farms... back up over 30mill at each
and enjoying the winery(s), cellar(s), dairy plant(s), and juice factory(s). All the other stuff is too busy for me...... lol
Fifth farm or 36x36 would be nice (can you spell addicted?)

The harvesting of others is not working properly. I just harvested a friend of mine that has 841 plots. After I harvested him, he only had 742 products in storage - that means that the hiring person IS giving up the crops which is not what you said it was supposed to do.
I just ran a second test on somebody else, but this time the math did work - he had as many crops in storage as he had plots and I got about 10% of the total.
So, this is a sporadic problem - you never know when you are getting what you should on either end of things.
OK - here is my 3rd and final test (I'm not gonna do this anymore). This guy had 544 plots. After harvesting, he said he had 497 plots in storage, but a whole bunch of plots with the triangles still on them. He then sent me a note after hitting the Play button and reloading his farm and he had the 544 plots in storage that he should have. In other words, you can't sell products until you reload your farms and get rid of all those triangles cuz they won't all be there.

Make that Coffee Shop/Country Restaurant -- serves coffee & tea, breakfasts including items from our Bakery, lunches including burgers & sandwiches & fries, salads too. Also soups and simple down-home dinners. In lots of rural town, that's what the coffee shop is.

to be honest, the issue of farm cash is no longer a problem. Since they have added the farm cash offers for myspace, there is no reason you should have a shortage of cash and no need for a "cash" crop

many of us have comment on this situation. When the hiring farmer refreshes their screen those fields will be harvested properly (as you described) and they will then show up correctly in storage. However, suddenly this morning I am not having that issue of the "terminally harvesting" fields so maybe they fixed that glitch

There are many options, as you say you can both leave, out of the, is it 27 million ? players, will your threat when activated be noticed? before you throw your toys out of the cot consider whether you want to play the game enough to
a.play with two farms
b. pay farm cash to buy the 12x12 3rd farm then spend playmoney to buy the whole of the 4th farm are you aware it costs 75 million?
c.meet new wonderful friends through hiring at the market place and talking to them when they work on your farm become buddies with them then move from there to friends on facebook and neighbours in farmtown.
How long I ask have you been playing that you have not met and enjoyed the company of new friends from around the globe who to invite onto FB is only one small step?My extra neighbours did not come in as strangers but buddies I have caught up with time and time again sometimes impelling me ( I know such a sacrifice on my part) to stay up way past my bedtime because we were chatting for so long after the work on our farms was finished.

Through participation here at the Forum, I got acquainted with several FT players with whom I exchanged FB friend and FT Neighbor requests and it's worked out very well. To me, this is preferable to the Neighbor Thread since it's a way to get acquainted before adding someone as a FB friend. This might be a way for you to build up new FT Neighbors.

Deb I can also add that I have made some wonderful friends from my buddy list, now Facebook friends. Not many although the best of friends now. Once upon a time I never thought I would add strangers to my FB but never been sorry that I have with this method. In the end, we all have control to block these people if they ever becomes a problem. You can block what you share with them (meaning control over your status updates and other stuff). Baby steps along the way to some great friendships. :)

Thanks for your answer...
I like all of the newest facilities and am satisfied with my purchases. I can't say whether it's worth it for *you* to buy them, but at this point, I'm not particularly interested in what return the facilities are giving me....I have so many coins that squeezing a few more out of each facility is really just a drop in the bucket (though right now I still need about $16M more before I can complete the upgrade of farm 4). I just like the variation of things I'm making. It keeps the game interesting for me and gives me more challenge to figure out what crops I plant, how many, and how often. That said, the newest facilities do seem to be money makers ....I haven't done the math on them yet to figure out the percentage of return to compare it to others though.

I don't have 30 neighbors, either. I decided to pay farm cash instead of adding people I don't know. I like having the choice. I look at buying the farm cash as paying the developers for their time, not paying real money for virtual things. Having been a programmer before having children, I know how much work it is.

Interesting to hear from a Linux user. I'm a Mac user and computer consultant and my friend who is the local Mac dealer and grew up with computers (and is a genuine guru), swears than Linux is the best operating system from a technical point of view. I have a friend who is a computer technician and consultant in South Africa who also has good things to say about Linux despite the fact most of her customers are PC users, so she works primarily with Windows computers -- and has a few less than complimentary things to say about Microsoft systems (with which I often agree).

I bought alot of llamas and sheep in order to use the new textile facility and also, got gifted mulberry trees. Now the main farm where I keep trees and animals is lagging alot and when I hired people to do the trees I think they had trouble loading, as one, never moved once arriving and finally poofed and another said it froze on her and she didn't do much and also disappeared. The facilities are great, but they need a solution for the animals and loading.

I am now getting this pop-up and like you click on skip and wait for the next step of sending the gifts to happen. I have noticed that all of a sudden, I am not getting as many gifts. I would suggest that this pop-up is confusing a lot of people with the page being closed down before the gifts are sent.

Thanks for responding. I believe the animals and the trees cause lag, but I don't know what to do about it. If they could make it possible to put animals in the buildings, perhaps that would help. However, I don't get much wool from my animals as it takes 2 days to harvest them, but don't feel buying more would be wise. It just isn't very practical.
Deb NZ
Jun 12 2010, 10:50 PM
well the one given is that you cannot move the animals so how about moving the trees to another farm, straight after harvest of course, and seeing if that makes a difference, only the wool shed must be on the farm with the animals
Can you pack the animals into the 4 corners to spread the load and freeze them?I notice when harvesting on other's farms it is hardest beside the packed animals.
lulu836
Jun 13 2010, 12:22 AM
Since it is painfully apparent that no amount of pleading is going to get us to the point where the animals can either be moved from one farm to another or put into the buildings I would like to know from an "official" source the real reason why. How about it devs - the least you can do is tell us the reason.
I am not nor do I think a large chunk of us are technically challenged. If the reason is too complicated for some mortals to understand I'm sure that some of us can translate it down to a simple statement.
Take up the challenge and give us an explanation. I'm throwing down the gauntlet which of you devs is going to pick it up?

I found your farm did load quickly for me but then I do freeze animals so that they are not wondering about. It will vary though with visitors, depending on their computer and internet speed or even if they freeze animals. Don't give up because there are many that can harvest for you. I have quite a few animals on my 2nd farm with all the facilities and no complaints....or perhaps they don't dare! lol :D

How does Linux work out for doing FT and other online games in general?I mostly don't play online games, so I can't comment in detail...Flash Player has minor differences in the Linux version that made a few things look different for a long time. Either the Flash Player updates have improved it, or the developers of Farm Town fixed something recently, or both, now FT looks the same on my computer as it does on my wife's WindowsXP computer.
There is a Linux version of Second Life that I've looked at, but don't play.
Linux has the same advantage as Macs in terms of viruses and malware--it just isn't as attractive a target, with the smaller market penetration. Linux has an additional advantage in that anyone with programming skills who discovers a way to fix a security flaw (or any bug for that matter) can submit the fix and have it available to Linux users everywhere in a matter of days, rather than having to wait for a monolithic company headquarters-released fix.
There is also the same disadvantage Macs have, which is if a company makes a proprietary Windows-based game (or other software), it simply won't work on Linux. Beyond that, most game companies work out ways to release Mac versions of their Windows software, but not so many find it worthwhile to make Linux versions.
But there are programmers around the world writing stuff for Linux all the time, and there aren't a lot of things that don't have either a Linux version or a Linux-based competitor with similar functionality. Some web sites claim to only work on Windows and Mac computers, but work fine in Linux. But tech support lines mostly refuse to have anything to do with Linux if you have issues, like with my internet service provider.

Would you consider making the trees that are only available through gifts, available to purchase for the higher levels? It's so irritating having millions of coins and at the top level having to beg others for fruit trees I can not purchase. And one more suggestion; would it be to much trouble to hire people crops, trees and flowers? Unless I am mistaken, I don't see that choice available. Thanks so much for the opportunity to express my views. And your team is brilliant!

No "challenge" necessary. This was already addressed in this post from 4th June:

well the one given is that you cannot move the animals so how about moving the trees to another farm, straight after harvest of course, and seeing if that makes a difference, only the wool shed must be on the farm with the animals
Can you pack the animals into the 4 corners to spread the load and freeze them?I notice when harvesting on other's farms it is hardest beside the packed animals.
Im afraid right now I do not have the motivation to move that many trees, or even just all those are ready at the same time to another farm. Perhaps someday I will get frustrated enough to do it. I wish now I had moved the wool facility to another farm before buying my llamas and sheep. I didn't really have that many of them until I bought more because of the textile facility. I should have just sold off the few I had and moved the facility to another farm.

Thanks for your comments. The Big Fish story games which I would like to do haven't been programmed yet for Mac's latest OS (Snow Leopard, 10.6 and up). Other than that, there's not much I would use which isn't Mac compatible. MS Office for Mac is pretty much fully compatible and I can import and work with MS Word for PC and MS Excel for PC files with just a little adjustment of formatting features. Even that often isn't necessary. I'm not happy with the newest version of Print Shop, but that is a Print Shop issue and not a matter of Mac OS compatibility.
I mostly don't play online games, so I can't comment in detail...Flash Player has minor differences in the Linux version that made a few things look different for a long time.

Love the upgrades since I was stuck at level 80. PRoblem though.... I need to find out how to resolve an issue with farm upgrades. I was unable to receive the final two upgrades to farm3, but did receive the addition of the $40 farm cash purchase of farm4. How can I resolve this to complete the upgrades I tried to get for farm 3?

I agree your question wasn't answered. I can move my flag, which I assume is also a sprite, why not the animals? Freeze em and move em!! These aren't flesh and blood entities.
Why can't they just be deleted from one farm, a representation then held in the storage facility, and then recreated on another farm? I may be an old school programmer, PL1, Fortran, Basic and Assembler, but I do understand Java and OO languages, what's the problem?
Some of us would really like to know...
I've already moved all my animals by deleting them on one farm, as I got new ones for gifts on another farm, it was a long process. I hate to see others go through it. I had to do it, to get my 100+ cows and other animals away from my crops. I suspect others want to do the same.

ive always said if farmtown can't give us farm cash for playing daily or something then needs to get rid of the farm cash altogether. if you wont help the players out so they can buy stuff with (farm cash) then make that same facility that cost farmcash for people like myself that don't have (farmcash) make the same facility for coins. example the oil refinery, wine celler, flower shop, sewing mill, confectionery factory, oil factory, food preserve factory, chocolate factory, and semi truck EVERYTHING SHOULD BE IN BOTH COINS AN FARMCASH. The bottom line is yall need to be fair an help everybody by having everthing in both.

I agree with the idea of this. Not all of us have a lot of extra money laying around to put into this game. I understand the reason behind it, though. I realize the game needs to make money for the developers. That is fine.
If I may make a suggestion, though........I really think there should be a new "BANK FACILITY" that we can purchase with our coins. Once purchased, it should allow users to convert their coins into Farm Cash at a premium. For example, make 1 Farm Cash worth $500,000 coins or something like that. Farm cash should be difficult to earn in the game, but you should be able to earn it is some way. So, having a bank where you can convert your coins to Farm Cash would be a solid addition to the game.
That way, everyone is happy. People that don't want to take the time to earn the coins to convert to Farm Cash and just want to pay real money can do that. People that still want the Farm Cash Facilities and just don't have the money can earn it by playing the game over time. Don't just give us Farm Cash for leveling up (many of us are stuck at 90 already and can't get more Farm Cash that way), but give us a way to convert coins into cash!

Agree with what you're saying here Baba 947. If the fact that the animals are animated is the problem, then, as you point out, how does this differ from the flag which also moves. Is it because the random motion of the animals is so much more complex? ... Still, there should be some work-around for this, I would think. Not being familiar with programming languages for animation, I may well be just not understanding the complexity.
But at least a fuller explanation provided by the developers to the mods here to relay to us would perhaps help gamers to be more patient and understanding of the situation.
Since I don't have a great lot of animals, it's not a problem for me, but I can see where it is for many others.

They do not owe us Farm Cash. They do not owe us explanations. They owe us zip, nil, zilch nada, besides making the game as nice as it can be for free, and I personally believe they have done that quite well.
They have provided a game that can be played perfectly well with limitations for free. But which can still be played *quite* satisfactorily for free.
For those who are able and can financially support this enterprise, there are options that can be enjoyed. But they are hardly necessities. Need I remind everyone this is a game????

I bought alot of llamas and sheep in order to use the new textile facility and also, got gifted mulberry trees. Now the main farm where I keep trees and animals is lagging alot and when I hired people to do the trees I think they had trouble loading, as one, never moved once arriving and finally poofed and another said it froze on her and she didn't do much and also disappeared. The facilities are great, but they need a solution for the animals and loading.
May i suggest you utilise the 'freeze animals " in the wrench (tools) at top of farmtown screen on right hand side ...the animals all make little movements...which your computer has to use resources to display thus causing you to lag if you have a large number of them
hope this helps

ummm wouldnt it be easier to move the crops to elsewhere and make one farm for animals and facilitys????? i did and it worked for me all it takes is a little planning and forethought to have 1 farm for animals and facility and one for a mansion with trees and crops and 2 other full sized working farms with 1000 fields available to plant

I had my animals on farm 1, which I wanted for my facilities, (since its the default farm when loading). I put the animals on farm 4, where they are out of the way, as I build that farm up.
We really should be able to move the animals easily and not have to go through gyrations to get it done.

I've wondered the same thing. Why does this have to be such an issue? Leave your animals where they are and move your crops. Easy peasy. Yes Farm #1 is the default, but anyone that's there to work your farm or check it out knows how to move between farms. When I post my facilities for work I always put in the post farm 2 & 4 so if they don't want to go through all 4 farms they don't have. Again, easy peasy. If it doesn't work for you, well...so be it. Most of these complainers must not play that other farm game where 99% of the stuff is for farm cash. At least with FarmTown I've noticed that when they make new facilities half will be for coins the other half for cash. At least you can buy some of the facilities. If all these facilities were on that other farm game I'd bet they'd all be for cash only. Like Nanny Nook said (or rather her mother) life isn't fair. This is a game so just enjoy yourself. If you stop complaining about what you don't have you just might start enjoying the game

As long as we are unpaid beta testers and in some cases spending real-world money for FC I would think that as a courtesy the developers would explain if asked directly what is so difficult about moving animals. There might be someone out there in FarmTown Land that could lend them a hand.

Sooooo funny to hear the complaints and responses of the FC cash deal...
Try and Zynga game for awhile....THEN you'll see how much better FT is...
It seems so silly to gripe about this FC thing when it is one of the "freest" games around.
As for the animal thing...I didn't have them when I first started playing over a year ago (kept selling them off b/c they just took up room). I only got them when the facilities started and then put them on Farm2. When the Facilities expanded and I got Farm3, I moved my "shops" and "factories" to F3, but left the animals on F2. I don't plant on moving and am keeping F2 my "FALL" design.

You have to have the animals that belong with those buildings. You need sheep (and/or llamas) and hens(and/or geese) for them to work and the buildings have to be on the same farm as the animal.

Thinking that free FT Cash and every facility, crop, decoration, etc. should be given to us by SlashKey is "entitlement thinking." I agree with you on that point.
However asking for an explanation isn't. It's been pointed out that this is a BETA program. As such, we, the players, are in effect testers. So asking a question and requesting clarification isn't asking to be "given" something for free. Who knows? There are doubtless at least a few highly qualified computer programmers among the FT game participants and with more information, it's even possible that one or more of them could be of practical assistance to the developers.
Using terms such as "justice" and "transparency" may go over the line, this being just a game and one that we choose to play or not play. But requesting information? That in itself doesn't seem out of line.

I wonder if adding levels really helps much in the long run; the same people will continue to run out of levels and complain again. I'm more interested in buying and selling and arranging the farm than I am in leveling up. The levels were fun early on, but I'd rather see more items in the shops to buy for the farms for functional and decorative use. Maybe some activities like quizzes, word games, etc. And perhaps the ability to enter buildings, sort of like Yoville with a farm theme?

You want information? -- then try corresponding privately with the developers. The OP wanted to offer his/her assistance with the "problem" -- sounds like something with no place in this thread. You want a job? Contact Slashkey and apply. Add to that the petulant, whiny and demanding tone that was taken (basically "I want an answer and I want it NOW!" Then, a day later, "Hey! Where is my answer??? You OWE ME an answer!") and I believe you are seeing a reflection of an entitlement attitude.
It may be Beta but the devs owe us no insights into their game development process nor the behind-the-scenes programming details of this game. Such information may be desirable to those who like to steal ideas. Or that might just be my paranoia. Either way, they owe us no explanations in my book.
And I am sure the devs love hearing how what they are trying to accomplish is "simple" and "no big deal" if they would just let John or Judy Farmtowner pitch in and help. Yeah. Right. It's real simple. Multiple servers, millions of players, cross platform, multiple social network hosts -- no big deal. I am sure if the players an just pitch in and write some code they will solve it all!!!
"Justice" and "transparency" were deliberately employed since so many of the whiniest posters use such phrases as "It is NOT FAIR that we don't get free Farm Cash" or "Why am I being punished?". Transparency because of stuff like this: "Shouldn't the devs let us know what is going on? Why don't they tell us why the animals can't be moved? What are they planning?" etc., etc.
Sorry, i wan't the one who upped the drama ante. The whiners did.
I would like to add thanks to the posters who have contacted me off-list to express agreement with my sentiments.
The whiners are NOT winning friends and influencing people positively!!!

They HAVE "YoVille with a farm theme." It is called Farmville. You can't expand your farm, so rearranging is the name of the game.
Personally -- I gave up on it.

When levels are added, I should be raised up..... after all I did work for the points. I just pre-worked. Like getting a raise, retro-active.
I would like to be able to enlarge the 24x24.... maybe in steps...... to something like a 30x30, or larger. It may not fit on the screen, but I can always click-n-drag.
As to entering the building.... sure... I am curious about the game room, master bedroom, family room and kitchen in my mansions. lol

I love the new features, o my yes! Just when the game was becoming lame as all getout, you add new stuff and I go all mooshy-happy inside. And the addiction worsens. Oh THANK YOU! :D
I do have a question I haven't seen addressed yet (in 19 pages of reading these forum deelies).
**When I fish my own waters, I catch several for storage, fine. I get that. Now that we're able to hire others, I now see a bunch of [+number] followed by a [-number] -- as if I'm earning extra coins and also losing some. Why is this? Anybody know?
As I rarely hire to fish (just having discovered we can) I haven't had occasion to see what the pluses and minuses do (if anything) when someone else is fishing my waters, nor what happens when I fish someone else's.
I don't see information on this issue, so I apologize if I'm asking a redundant question. And thank you.
I LOVE THIS GAME!!

I don't usually fish or cut bait.... but I suggest a Sushi Shop..... perhaps in the design contest, some one will submit a cool one.
I would still prob not spend my time fishing.... I like the wineries, and the dairy and juice plants more....
Other crops could help sell the bait, I mean the sushi. Lettuce, olive oil, etc.
And when all else fails, use the mulberry worms. lol
I knew there was a reason I didn't like sushi :)

I was wondering about the (-) also. I noticed it when I was fishing on another farm.
I'm hoping for a facility for the fish too. I've been saving all my fish just in case.
I agree SnarkFeaster I was getting rather bored with the game and hardly ever played. Then they had to go ahead and had the facilities. I'm hooked now. I look forward to seeing what will be the next new facility.

I agree that the demanding tone is totally out of line. And, no, they don't "owe" us answers. Since many interface with the devs through the mods here, though, perhaps a bit more information would be helpful to the mods as well as to other forum participants. Personally, I don't "expect" anything, but on the other hand a sort of "well that's just the way it is" answer? Not a very satisfactory response to a question about a product, whatever that product is.
It may be Beta but the devs owe us no insights into their game development process nor the behind-the-scenes programming details of this game. Such information may be desirable to those who like to steal ideas. Or that might just be my paranoia. Either way, they owe us no explanations in my book.
Doubt the question, however impolitely put, was wih the intent to "steal" ideas.
Totally agree with you that those who refer to programming and maintaining a complex application like FT as "simple," "no big deal" are 180 wrong and probably have no understanding of programming at all.
Yes, I get quite tired of that "It is NOT FAIR" thing too.
Sorry, i wan't the one who upped the drama ante. The whiners did.
I would like to add thanks to the posters who have contacted me off-list to express agreement with my sentiments.
The whiners are NOT winning friends and influencing people positively!!!
Whiners seldom win friends and influence people -- except perhaps the politicians :(
Oh, and something new -- folks, there is a huge section of the board called "Suggestions." Why not take your endless demands for coffee grinders there???:p[/QUOTE]
Those requests appear repeatedly in the Suggestions section -- too repeatedly. Since it's been suggested, noted by the mods and, I'm sure, passed on to the developers, really is time folks move on.

Hey there,
We just released a new version of FarmTown with the following features/fixes:
1. 10 new levels: More than 20 items, all in coins. More levels comming soon.
2. Textile Mill (coins): Allows you to produce:
- Cotton Textile Rolls from the Cottom crop
- Wool Textile Rolls from the sheep and llamas wool
- Silk Textile Rolls from the Silk Worms. You get the Silk Worms by harvesting the mulberry trees where they live. You get the mulberry tree as gift from friends
3. Sewing Mill (30FC): Allows you to produce:
- Shirts, T-Shirts, Horse Rugs, Harvesting Gloves, Wool Hats, Overalls, Ties and Wedding Dresses
It uses the Textile Rolls from the Textile Mill
4. 2 New crops: Cucumber and Green Grapes
5. You can now produce pickles from the cucumbers on the Food Preserver Factory
6. Winery (Coins): Allows you to produce non-aged wine containers from the Purple and Green Grapes in your storage.
- White Wine Barrel from Green Grapes
- Red Wine Container from Purple Grapes
- Champagne Barrel from Green Grapes
7. Wine Cellar (30FC): Allows you to produce Aged Wine Bottles out of the non-aged Wine Containers that you produced in the Winery. The aged wines can be:
- White Wine Bottles aged 1 and 2 years
- Red Wine Bottles aged 3 and 4 years
- Champagne Bottles aged 5 and 6 years
8. You can now hire others to fish at your farms
9. When you work for others to harvest crops, trees, flowers or to fish, in addition to the coins you get, the Mayor (not from the harvest of the employer) will compensate you with a share of the products:
- When harvesting crops or trees for others you'll get about 10% of what you harvest
- When harvesting flowers for others you'll get about 25% of what you harvest
- When fishing for others you'll get about 50% of what you catch
All products you earn this way will go into your storage.
10. The issue with the fuel should be resolved by now, you can refuel now up to 9999999 gallons at the same time.
Enjoy!
Update 1: All new items for the new levels are at the end of the Buildings and Decorations categories.
Update 2: We are currently working on a way to keep incentivized people with 650K+ XP or 90+ level, stay tunned.
Update 3: On point #9, the extra crops for the Employee comes from the Mayor, not the Employer, similar to the way the facilities work.

ENTITLEMENT. No need to look it up in the dictionary. The definition is HERE on this forum.
The devs OWE US NOTHING.
I wish the exaggerated demands for justice and transparency on this forum could be applied with equal vehemence to social justice causes!!!! LOL! The world would be turned upside down!
Thanks devs. I have been at this game for a lonnngggg time.... and really appreciate how far it has come.
I could not agree with you more..I live in a country where the currency exchange rate is ZAR7 - $1. But I find the money to buy the things I need to make my farm more functional....I am totally gobsmacked when players tell me they wont use their money to enhance the game....Love Farmtown and thanks to all who work so hard to put it together.

As to the coffeehouse.....

OOPS!! LOL guess I need to look better next time....... I sure hope they keep these Fathers Day gifts & store Items permanently .... they are fantastic...... I am sure a lot of people will want them but have spent their farm cash and too many coins on purchasing their 4th farm and expansions. not to mention the New Facilities..
Can we start a petition?? LOL LOL
Just realized... since they figured out how to do the white lines for a tennis court, volleyball court etc.. we should be getting a way to make a parking lot or roads on our farms very soon !! Yehaw....

yep.... and although I don't feel the "need" to have these food facilities, I enjoy what fun they bring to other farmers.
Exactly what I was thinking about many of the new items. While most don't fit into the themes I've chosen to use on my FT layouts, I'm pleased to see that SlashKey continues to come out with new items which so many enjoy :)

I use the stone paths and dirt for paved parking lots and roads.
I paved my pool, restaurant and recreation area.
