New Release -- December 3rd, 2010

Hi Farmers,

We just released a new version of the game with the following features:

1. Holiday Items: Most of them in coins. There are 5 new holiday animals on the gift section. There is also a Snow Cover on the Holiday section in the store that covers the entire farm with snow.

2. Plow Tool Improvement: The plow tool now works similar to when you are hired for plow, if you are on top of a harvested or gone to waste field, you will see only the highlighted fields. You will only see the red or green cursor when you are over grass.

3. Blue (coins) and Orange (FC) Bulldozers: Allows you to delete 3x3 or 4x4 fields at a time. All Bulldozers have been updated so you can also delete single items, not just fields, without switching to the yellow dozer.

4.Gift Certificates: There are 3 Gift Cards (55, 120 and 250 FC) on the Holiday Section that you can send as gift to your neighbours.

5.Separate Work-Hire/Sell-Trade Markets: There is now an additional Marketplace that people can use when they are not interested in hiring/working and just want to sell and trade products with other users. You can still do all operations on both markets, but with the option of explicitly indicating your intention, the chances of accomplishing your goals should increase.

6.Item Storage Improvements: There is a new tool on the extended tool bar ('Add to Item Storage', above the hand) that will allow faster transfers to the item storage. Also, when you are moving items from the item storage to your farms, if you have more than one in storage, you can continue placing the same item and they will be removed from storage automatically.

7.Rubber Tree: Allows you to harvest the Latex from the tree.

8.Metal Mill: Allows you to produce Copper and Stainless Steel Sheets to build Cookware and Toys. You can extract the Iron, Copper and Chromite ores in the Mineral Mine.

9.Cookware Factory: Allows you to make cookware. You can produce Plastic Granules on the Petrochemical Plant:

Bamboo Utensil Set
Copper Sauce Pot
Silver Cutlery Set
Rubber Gloves
Copper Frying Pan
Tea Kettle
Knife Set

10.Rubber Factory: Allows you to create Rubber Sheets from the Latex, that you can later on use to make toys and other future products. You need the turpentine as the solvent which you can produce on the Petrochemical Plant.

11.Toy Factory: Allows you to make toys. You can produce Plastic Granules on the Petrochemical Plant:

Flying Disc
Rubber Duckie
Ballons
Teddy Bear
Rocking Horse
Scooter
Doll
Skateboard

More holidays items coming next week and more animals coming on next release.

Enjoy!

Thanks

I feel kinda bad about saying this, especially since the devs worked so hard to give us this update. But, I was really hoping to see some fixes to the numerous bugs that have been reported concerning slowness of the game.

I KNEW IT!!!! I have been on FT for well over 5 hours today (ok, perhaps I do have an addiction problem as someone mentioned before) - and noticed this last time when I went to the marketplace that something was different. Then when I was hired to plow and had an actual plow in my hand - I KNEW! In my excitement I told the farm owner that there had been a new release - and then is when the addiction remark was made. I could barely contain myself long enough to finish plowing to come see what the "new" was - YAY!!! Thank you, Raul and team - you have made a sniffly, yucky feeling old lady very happy - HAPPY DANCE!

Farm Cash generates profits for the developers. Period. And I personally do not begrudge them this.

I regret that not everybody is able to afford Farm Cash. That is the way of the world.I plan to alleviate this in my little corner of the world by giving some of the wonderful new Farm Cash gift cards to some of my favorite long time neighbors as holiday gifties.

This is capitalism. This is NOT a justice issue. They owe us NOTHING. It is a free game. We get to play the parts of teh game that we can afford to play.

Sorry, but here I was -- enjoying this delightful update -- and I ran into the grouchy whiny sourpusses. Enough. If you want to whine, there are other threads appropriate to that.

End of rant.

Bulldozer question. I have bought the new 3x3 dozer and it and its 2x2 mate are not highlighting fields. I understand that they can now delete single items, but how do i get it to delete 3x3 fields at a time ? At the moment it's only deleting one at a time.

Yes, I too would appreciate the snow ground cover being placed in the Paths/Ground Cover Tab at the Store for year round availability.
This would be especially useful for those players (and there are many) living in the Southern Hemisphere where, contrary to popular opinion, there actually are areas which have snow during their winter months.
Also, for those of us who like to follow the seasons in our farm themes, it would allow us to bring on the snow in November as happens in many regions of the Northern Hemisphere.
Plus, for those who want to create special layout themes such as a high mountain year-round ski resort, the availability of the snow ground cover, as well as the patches of snow and the Snow Pines would be great.

That said Thanks So Much for listening to us and providing the snow ground cover : : :

LOL Maybe you should call in to the Coast-to-Coast AM Radio program and let them know about your "special gift" of foresight. They occasionally discuss such topics and many listeners are quite into such things -- really believe all that. Will, not saying "special gifts" aren't real. I'm just somewhat a skeptic.

Hi Tiger, im not sure what you're talking about, i just tried the 3x3 from storage using the extended tools, and it deleted 9 plots

ETA: If you don't have it in storage, when you try and select it from the extended tool panel, it will revert to the single bulldozer tool.

hmmm, did it highlight the 9 fields before it deleted them ? I'll try putting it in storage, reloading, and try again. I just plonked it on the farm i where i was deleting fields.

ETA that did the trick. All bulldozers now highlighting and deleting normally. Thanks for the reply to my other post RT :D

It's rather funny. I had purple grapes to harvest and the fields to plow prior to coming here to read details of this update. I clicked my 3x3 plow and positioned it. No red or green squares. So, figured I must have selected something other then the plowing tool. Wend back and repeated the process. Nope - no colored squares. The third time, I looked a bit closer and realized it showed the plow image, so, obviously plowing had changed as per many players' requests. Will take me a bit to get used to the new look, but it will be an improvement and again the developers deserve our thanks for being responsive to user feedback.

I am REALLY happy about the plow tool improvement. I have on numerous occasions gone over where I wanted to plow and had to delete the extra plots. Now my harvested fields are so much easier to plow.:)

So I have a question. In order to do the toy factory you have to have to or three other things. The petrochemcial plant, the metal mill....

The cookware you would need the plant also and what else. Do you need the oil refinery thing.

Seems like a lot of stuff for just one factory.

Thanks Raul for all the wonderful updates. You keep the game interesting and fun.

I agree that the snow cover should be in the paths permanently. I would really really really love to see a sand cover for our beach farms.

I like the new bulldozers, but would love to see something that could delete flowers and/or trees that would work kind of like the shaker and picker but with a delete option. Sometimes I've planted bunches of either and decide to rearrange or redesign my farm and it's a real pain to move them one by one to another area of the farm or to storage and a lot simpler to just delete them.

Sorry, I disagree. This is a thread for asking about the new releases or commenting on them -- on what they *are*, not what we *wish they would be*. That, IMHO, belongs in SUGGESTIONS.

"Occasional critical comment?" Occasional??? Gee, it sure seems that they groan a lot more around here than all that.

Honestly, there is a thread called "The Whine Cellar." There is a thread for commenting on coins and farm cash. When someone goes off on the Farm Cash vs. coins issue it has NOTHING to do with new releases. The devs have never suggested that coins would EVER be exchanged for cash -- EVER. Then someone makes it sound like that has been promised by the devs. Puh-lease.

Okay, I promise not to whine about the whiners anymore -- in this thread. Please do not scold me again. I am entitled to MY opinions too.

Sure hope you get all that snow you have been requesting......

No, that's not right. To purchase 55 farmcash it costs $9.99 American. Then with 50 of those farmcash you can purchase and send the gift card to your neighbor. You can find the costs to buy farmcash in the 'earn cash and coins' tab.

You sure are entitled to your opinion. Guess I was just losing patience with the whole matter of "whining" and reprimanding the the whiners:rolleyes: Didn't intend to scold.
And no, the developers of course never promised that coins could be exchanged for cash. That, in fact, would be illogical and makes no business sense -- like exchanging play money for real money. Oops, now I'm encouraging further discussion on this
Yes, I'm very happy with my snow, love my snow, thank the developers for snow :)

I planted a bunch of them last night... just checked.... If memory serves this old guy right, then they have been in the ground about 10 hours and they say 30%

Well said Toranut, I agree!

Thanks Devs for a brilliant update.:)
I am really made up with :-

2. Plow Tool Improvement: The plow tool now works similar to when you are hired for plow, if you are on top of a harvested or gone to waste field, you will see only the highlighted fields. You will only see the red or green cursor when you are over grass.

Brilliant!!!
Merry Christmas Raul..and all the Devs

So I have a question. In order to do the toy factory you have to have to or three other things. The petrochemcial plant, the metal mill....

The cookware you would need the plant also and what else. Do you need the oil refinery thing.

Seems like a lot of stuff for just one factory.

thanks

There are several facilities that are intedependent. I fell into that trap with the perfume factory so now I wait for the game guide and try to be very careful that getting one or another facility doesn't require that I get 6 others to take full advantage of the products.

Hi Farmers,

We just released a new version of the game with the following features:

2. Plow Tool Improvement: The plow tool now works similar to when you are hired for plow, if you are on top of a harvested or gone to waste field, you will see only the highlighted fields. You will only see the red or green cursor when you are over grass.

--Raul

Thanks Raul!
But this improvement only useful when you plow on a harvested or gone to waste fields. When you plow a new field, it's seem to be annoy.
I tested on my farm and saw that: when you plow on grass, and move the cursor to plow next fields, the cursor disappears about 0.8 second, before it reappear for you to plow next fields. Especially when you move the cursor though 'plowing field' (-20 coins ascendant), delay time is 1 second.
I think this improvement is not very important to players, and if I can compare, I will choose the plow tool before.
Thanks for reading.

Love the new updates that were released. All the Christmas and Holiday items are wonderful. I've been spending those earned coins to be able to decorate my farms.

Love the new facilities as well. I have production started on them but had one question. How long does it take for the rubber trees to produce the latex? I know i have to get more of the trees to keep stock but just curious if anyone knew the answer to harvest time on them yet.

Looking forward to whatever the next update that was mentioned is going to be. Continue to keep up the good work and us farm town addicts always appreciate the hard work you put into making this game so wonderful. Thanks bunches!!!!

Enjoy!

Or is the '1' on your gift box? Another thing, everyone does realize that this is very irritating and inconvenient to you and we do sympathize, but please keep in mind that there are people who are unable to play at all! Whoops there goes another rubber-tree plant! (couldn't resist)

I'm with everyone who loves the snow and the change to the plow: so great not to have to worry about accidentally plowing grass where I don't want to.

On the other hand, I saw the FarmCash gift cards when I signed on first thing this morn. I thought, cool, I'll check it out. But now they aren't showing up when I goto Send Gifts. What's up with that?

(i also like the holiday animals. the goat and sheep are the silliest looking things I've seen in a long time: it's great :) )

Actually, last year's items are back in the holiday tab of the store. I'd have liked to see something new, but oh well.

Sorry my post should have indicated there are NO hanukah items for gifting. TY for your reply. It gave me a chance to make the correction. The hanukah items in the gift store are the same microscopic ones from last year

Hi there, I personally like the new plow for our farms and was stoked when it was released. I can now plow in half the time, as the old green/red blade used to take number of seconds to register before I could click to plow. I gather we still need the red/green blade to show up for placing new fields, as I had to do that this morning. I also like how the new plow seeks out fields in and around other objects. It is excellent for plowing my sloping crop on my island farm. After using the new plow option a few times, I find I don't have the red/green blade showing so often. It is like a lot of things, getting used to something new and then can't do without it. :)

First, well done for updating this so soon with the new facilities. I think it's a fantastic help.

I looked at it just now and wondered if there has been an omission. In the cookware facility it details copper frying pans, but it doesn't say you need copper sheets to produce it. I should think you would. I don't think you could make it with just the ingredients listed. lol

Yes, I agree with you new plow tool help us plow faster, but it only fast when you plow on designed fields (harvested or gone to waste). I agree with you when you plow new fields, there are a green square, too; but I wonder why the cursor flash and disappear everytime I move the cursor, and 1 second it appear again.
And, this situation doesn't effect to normal farm (have a gap between fields)

Haven't tried it for plowing new fields yet. But I did find the red and green squares useful in that case for getting things lined up and not accidentally leaving gaps. But I'm sure that I'll adjust to the new method.

Thanks Raul!

Thank you for the upgrade just a small point, please I understand that Farm Cash generates profit but please guys this is a world wide game and people like me in Sunny South-Africa, with our exchange rate have to use all other methods rather not mentioned here for generating Farm Cash. Example 50 FC will cost me R 500. Add all the facilities that need FC then you can calculate for yourself what it will cost me. The cap at lvl 160 also does not help much

i do have one on every farm and it makes no where near enough to cover all the different needs for oil now, and many others feel the same way, As a matter of fact many of my neighbors are not buying the new plants that use products that need oil because they cant make enough for the facilities thay have already.

put one on each farm...I did...they're cheap enough and you will then have more oil than you can possibly use.

Sorry to break the news but that's never going to happen. FarmTown makes their money off of charging for FarmCash.

It's a great game with our without FarmCash, it's basically some of the upgraded equipment that costs FarmCash - but you don't need to upgrade it anyway.

The game is fun with our without FarmCash especially with all of these awesome additions to the game that 90% of are in Coins.

I wanted to formally go through my thoughts on the latest update.

I like the add to storage tool and removing all unless you say so it helped me clear my storage out and I can fill it with Christmas stuff after the holiday.

I never use the bulldozers, but I plan to get the 4x4 I might see some use in the future.

I like the new facility's and new tree always looking to make more cash through those facility's and use up all these supply's I have stockpiled.

I would like to point out a few things that are needed.

1: More uses in new and old facility's of all the items that have no use

2: Faster loading of storage(it takes so long to load all my items).

3: More storage I am reaching the limits of the storage much easier and you keep adding more items.

4: Adding storage numbers of crops that you have in the seeder to make it easier to figure out what you need to plant.

5: A spot that tells you the times of how long until a crop is done on a farm(kinda like a board that counts how long until something is done).

6:Increasing the trade limits to be like buy 1000 every 8 hrs or 1500-2000 every 12 hrs.

I'm thinking I may need to sell everything else out of my Storage so I can store Snow Pines and Patches of snow (which I like to use in late spring to simulate a melting snow cover and in November to look like early snow in the "high elevations."
As I noticed before, your winter theme farm is lovely. Nicely done.
Now, of course, I'm "lobbying" for the snow ground cover to be put into the Store's Paths/Ground Covers tab for year-round availability.

Agree that the changes to Storage are very useful.

Although I don't intend to get the new trees or facilities (they just don't fit into my farm themes), it's great that they have been added to give players and even wider choice of things to do in FT.

And, oh yes, we could use extra storage for the winter items.

Also concur with your #4 suggestion.

Enjoy!

Thanks

I'm going to revert back to what I enjoyed most about the game, designing farm layouts and farming :) Thanks to the Devs for a great game and the frequent updates to keep interest and improve playability

I'm with you. I decided with the update before this one that I'd only buy facilities if they were food-related. It helps me save time as well as FC!

Hi everyone.
I have looked & looked but do not see it. I would like the specifics for the Air Freshner Factory. I like to know what materials It uses before I buy. Any assistance would be appreciated. TY!

lol we're all different. I'm loving having some facilities that are not crop-related. There are only so many crops you can plant and it's great to just have those mines and oil rigs ticking away in the background producing stuff for facilities. I keep thinking that one day I might want to go easy on the planting and I can still keep going with the non-planted things.

Oh no, I've realised that I do indeed need farm 8!!!

I need it to put another oil pump on. We have so many facilities requiring the oil that I need all the pumps I can get. Perhaps they could be made like on real farms, so that more than one pump works on each farm?

Farm 9 would also be good for another oil pump . . .

lol

Finally after 4th refresh i was able to load this..... wow freaky thing........sorry for the post too early before i tried again......

I too had trouble adding the 4x4 bulldozer to my storage but I was more fortunate than you. It worked for me after the first refresh.

It's a reminder that after a new update we just have to be patient and persevere. The updates are worth it. lol

Link your farm and I can look it up. Only if you've never blocked the game and restarted it :)

When you harvest the rubber trees it gives you latex, you can then put it in the rubber factory to produce rubber sheets but you will need to keep some of the raw latex in your storage if u want to make the balloons :)

I agree with those who have said we need oil produced faster. We get 4 barrels a day per farm, so 28 barrels to provide enough fuel, ethanol, plastic granules, plasticizer, and turpentine. Even changing it to every 4 hrs instead of 6 would be a help.

An observation........

some of the New Release Threads run many hundreds of posts longer than this one.

hhmmmm

was this just not a "super-release" we sometimes get?
