My bet is that the new release will be on Friday. It has seemed that the past few releases have been on Friday's.

WOW ... so much impatience about the next update ...

People are saying that they are bored ... something to keep in mind ... I was told once by a gentleman I really respected that if you are bored it is because you are boring ... ;)

This is a game, but to the devs it is a business ... speaking as a computer programmer myself ... the process of designing the game and updates, coding, testing and then installing it on the servers is quite a lengthy and technical process ... I appreciate the quality of coding here ... much better than some of the other (all of the other) game developers who host on Facebook ... (my opinion) ... With some of the other devs the updates would be installed and then in a couple weeks the devs MIGHT get around to fixing the problems they created ... Here ... the devs are obviously testing and taking their time ... Problems here are fixed VERY FAST ... these are professionals, please let them do their jobs and understand that they are excellent at what they do ... don't sell the task of creating these updates short ... it is VERY TIME CONSUMING ... when the updates come they come ... in the meantime ... relax and enjoy ... and if you are "bored" ... go do something else to pass the time. ... :D Have a great day all !!!

great post.... people forget there is work involved guess they assume its like the game click a picture and add to the game when like you said its a lengthy process that takes time

Quite right too, impatience is a waste of time. It doesn't make things happen more quickly and beseiging the devs won't help, the longer things take to happen the less chance there'll be problems with it. I too am eagerly anticipating the new updates, but I'll plod on happily until they arrive

hens vs chickens (buyable) .. chickens don't produce eggs ???? what a waste .. that should be stated on the purchase pages - if and how a unit produces or does NOT produce something ... confused and disgusted

Chicken coop states what it uses. Even now if you click 'help' on the chicken coops it shows it's hens and geese not chickens. And you are more than welcome to check out what things use here in the forum. We have a game guide that lists everything (link in my signature).

Like everyone else I am waiting on the update of Farm 8....I fill my time waiting by coming here and reading everyone's post.....now is that sick or what?....lol
But like others before me...I understand that there is a lot of work that goes into developing this game and want to take a moment out of my whining and thank the devs for all their hard work....Keep it up we love you guys.

:)Like Jennifer Michelle (Post #504) said, this wonderful game didn't become so awesome because the people creating it rushed through the process and dumped some half-baked program on us. The fantastic developers take the time to make it work right BEFORE they turn it over to us. :) :) :)

I know it's difficult to wait for something you think you really must have -- is an up-grade to a computer game REALLY a "must-have"? -- but wouldn't you rather get it and be able to use it right away? Or would you rather it were released early with glitches -- sort of like getting a battery-operated toy on Christmas without the batteries?! :( I know that's a very dated analogy, but come on, ladies and gentlemen. Give it a rest!!

Drop by the Real Estate Office a couple of times a day; drop in here once or twice to rave about the game and thank the wonderful developers, then go FARM! :D

There's a thread in the social forum, under the neighbor request threads called Farm Town data sheets and there are several to choose from, though I think only damichoop's is the most updated one.

If you are under level 160, keep checking.

If you are 160 or better and have the points, you will see your level increase and your FTcash increase.

I too think Friday (or before) will see the next release:

....Farm #8 @ $1,250,000,000

..........New Levels to 185

................12 or more new farm decor items

......................New Mansion at $10,000,000

..............................More fun and time on FT - priceless.

This could be a fun guessing game. : ) I'm thinking we'll see some upgrades to the Facilities Manager - something that lets us load factories more quickly. And - new levels - do they usually give us 25? The thing is, won't they likely give us at least one new item per level? To give people things to aspire to? So I'm guessing if we get 25 new levels, we'll get at least 25 new items of some sort.

My wish list of items is train stuff and Southwest stuff. The train could be a lot of items - an engine, caboose, cattle car, etc. And we could gift train tracks. And instead of a new mansion, how about a really cool looking train station??? And then we need cactus, longhorn steers, a ground cover that's desert-y looking, a saloon . . . stuff like that. I'd be in heaven.

'Course I'll probably be happy with whatever they come up with. I pretty much have been so far.

Hmmm . . . well, I'm gonna stick with my story anyway. Maybe just add being able to do something with donkeys and horses and chickens to my guess! :D Not all in one upgrade, though. They gotta keep us guessing and wanting more.

the only problem with giving us lambchops is that we would have to slaughter the lambs for the meat, this would mean we would need to constantky buy lambs and I don't see anyone being pleased with that idea, or even the thought of slaughtering an animal....I eat meat but try so hard not to think about where it came from :(

As far as constantly having to buy things we already do that with the oil and meats. Now on no one wanting a slaughter house don't be so sure that no one would want one. I have wanted one for a long time, even before the facilities came into play. I am happy with the compromise the developers have come up with but I still wouldn't mind a slaughter house to take the animals to.

It is all in the mind.

have chickens and the grandkids get the eggs. The five year old twins love it when I cook them cheesie eggs.

Have sent socks and t-bone to the butchers, jersey is next and we need to get 2 more caves to raise. best tasting meed we have had, and I was born in New York city, go figure.

Back on topic.

From what I have read and understand. A lot of the food that is raised on the farm is used on the farm. Wouldn't make sense to raise beef and sell it off then go to the supermarket and buy it to eat.

Remember we are farming here.

I think that the Dev. are doing a great job with how they are doing the game. I remember saying that we need a chain saw when the chop those trees came out, just kidding about it, guess what we got the chain saw. also wanted the lumber jills, still waiting for those.

We are given a lot of choices on how and what to use to play the game. I for one think that it is coins or FC I must decide what and how I want to play and use it.

Keeps this old man from getting forgetful.

What do I want next. Surprise me with something and I will decide on using it or not.

I'm sorry but my guess is 1.45 billion coins for farm 8. I looked at the progression on each extension of the farm over the last few, and if the devs work the same way as in the past, it will be 1.45 billion.

Last time we were given 15 new levels. I'd like to see more than that as 15 won't even buy us another facility. lol It seems terrible to have worked hard for 2 months and not even get enough farm cash for one facility, when you think that we could do it in a month at the lower levels, when we had hardly anything on the farm. However, anything will be acceptable.

Hi There,

We just released a new version of the game with the following features and bug fixes.

1. New Animals and Hills (Coins): 5 new animals on the gift page and 4 more animals in the store. Also, 3 different set of Hills now available on the Paths/Ground category: plain grass, tall grass and semi-dry grass. There are also a coupple of Sand Hills at the end.

2. Easy to Return Gifts: When you accept a gift, the confirmation page now have a new section to 'Send a gift back to your friend' to easily return the favor. Notice this section will only be visible if you haven't sent a gift to that friend recently.

3. Fertilizer for Trees (FC): If you already own the *Red* Manure Spreader and you buy the *Orange* Manure Spreader, then every time you fertilize a farm using ANY of them, both, crops and trees will be fertilized. Fertilized trees will produce 2 boxes when harvested and 2 log piles when chopped.

Notice you only need to fertilize a farm once, with any of the Spreaders, it doesn't matter which. You can also use the Manure Spreader in the Extended Tool box.

If you don't like the highliht effect on crops or trees you can disable it in the Preference window.

[UPDATE:] There is no additional consumption of manure, it remains the same as before.

4. Harvest storage increased by 50%.

5. Facility optimization (launched a couple of weeks ago): There should be far less network requests when using your facilities, so working on them should be faster, with less timeouts when you move from one facility to the next or when you start farming after closing a facility.

6. Facility Manager: This is a new tool located on the Extended Toolbox to make it easier to navigate and manage your facilities. For now, you can see all your facilities in the current farm, with summarized information and with the hability to open them and sort them in several ways. In the future we will be adding more functionality to this Manager to make it easier and faster for you to work with them and help friends.

7. Producing Yarn and Rope in the Textile and Spinning Mill: The 'Textile Mill' has been upgraded to 'Textile and Spinning Mill' and will also produce Linen Yarn and Rope from the new Flax crop, and Wool Yarn from Sheep Wool.

8. Knitting and Knotting Mill (FC): Allows you to produce Knitting Clothes and Knotted Products out of the Yarn and Ropes you produce on the Textile and Spinning Mill:

Hay Net
Hammock
Scarf
Snow Cap
Lace Dress
Doily
Boots

9. Distillery (Coins): Allows you to produce Spirits and Liqueurs:

Vodka
Whiskey
Brandy
Rum
Creme de Menthe

Farm 8 and new levels comming on the next release.

Enjoy!

Thanks

--Raul

My birthday is the 14th, i would be a very happy person on that day.
Would be even happier if driverdave had their birthday wish :)

Well I had my birthday present in Nov 12 when we had the last update, my birthday was the 13th but it was a present anyway and what did I name my farm: Happy Birthday.
I am pretty sure tomorrow we have farm 8, please, pretty please!!

Tell me what about the camels? What do they do or give? I know that the Ostrich makes beautiful hats and their plumes are very expensive in the real world. Peacocks the same thing their feathers are big sellers and make beautiful arrangements. Are we getting ready for a millinery? Is that how you spell a place to make hats? Oh the camel, wait a minute, the camel hair is great on coats..... oh oh a department store, lol
How great it is on what we can think and dream in our mind..... let's see if any of the predictions come through.

No, the lamb chops would go with the semi truck just the same as the beef and the chickens, we don't kill the animals on the farm, we use them for eggs and milk and so on but not for their meat.... it comes in the truck, lol

Oh yes a millinery(?) for making hats would be great! I would love to be able to harvest the feathers from my birds. Down from the ducks also for making pillows :) I would like to see some female ducks and deer also. We have stags and drakes but I want to make a herd of deer with the does and fawns and only one or two stags, and a flock of ducks with perhaps a few baby ducklings to put near the water. Our ducks look like mallards and if they are they are all male by the coloring.

Need more land first off though. Can't wait for 8 :)

I am also really hoping for an update this weekend as it is a quiet weekend for me. I am not holding my berath though as the updates never happen when I have time to enjoy them lol.

I like the meat being trucked in. It is part of the nice Utopian Farm Town world I inhabit. A slaughterhouse would take the shine off my delusion ;)

LOL LeeAnn not a silly question. I don't plan to plant on my new farm. I am buying a ton of seacoasts to use for a while to stock up on crab, since I always run out. Normally I don't plant but managed it so I have empty farms tonight. Last update I could plant flax for 2 days. Since, we both know I am a facility junkie, gotta plant new crops right away if there are any!!

I was so hoping that it would have been today, planted 8 hr crops which I have to go and harvest before its too late, got my FC and coins waiting, and I am a nervous wreck, but if it does not happen tonight, oh well the world is not going to stop and will wait patiently for whenever. Meantime, will keep on farming and earning coins and xpoints that could mean a higher level even at 160 that I am now. Have to agree with those that are computer savvy and know that the devs are working hard to give us a game that has no glitches and that we can enjoy fully... Bless them I hope they are working their little tails out to give us that SOON....
Happy farming to all, and to all a good day,

There is still hope. It's only 3:34pm EST (15:34) in the United States. Usually updates happen around 5:30pm EST (17:30).

oh really, i just remember that the last update have come around 11 hour clock in the night here in my country...well, i m kinda tired today , i dont know if i will not fall a sleep . Well, if somebody can promisse me that the update will really come i can make it possible to stay awake :-) I just need to hear 1 word...YES

I don't know if updates come out at the same time everywhere. My experience has been that they often come out between 6 and 7pm CST, which of course is 7-8pm EST, so don't give up too soon. I feel like I've been waiting for farm 8 for months. I do remember that a year ago, there was what seemed like a HUGE gap between the last pre-Christmas update and the first update after Christmas - it was practically a Valentine's day update. But the updates have come out much more frequently since then, so I've been hoping we would get one any day now. If the devs have been on vacation, I hope it was a good one!

The last two releases, I got the levels and upgrades and started working the farms right away. I was also on the chat with some friends/neighbors who thought I was pulling the wool over their eyes. They had nothing, no release, nothing.... but only for minutes.

So apparently, when it swings into being, it is a "rolling" effect, much like the 4x4 tools - lol

Now I would like to be among the first again.... but if not, I know I will be rewarded for my small degree of patience shortly after the release begins.

(Just please don't make me last)

Seems like everyone is waiting for the new releases. I have to be very patient normally, we never get it till after midnight the day it is released. Not that it matters, i am always here till way after midnight. Can't wait for the new stuff and levels.

Oh, for crying out loud, you whiners... knock it off already!

If you don't like the way the game is produced, QUIT PLAYING IT. Go find a calm game of Parcheesi and indulge yourselves. Or perhaps Canasta.

If you are happy with the game, enjoy it and don't mind spending a bit now and then for your entertainment - like me - then take a moment to thank your Game Gurus and moderators for their hard work.

THANK YOU, GAME GURUS AND MODERATORS!

I'm looking forward to the next levels and extra fun things. Been playing since the game's inception and have NEVER been disappointed.

Look, IT'S A GAME. Don't like it? Move on to the next. I hear Cityville is a hoppin thang.... ::not::

Otherwise we're all going to think you get some kind of weird thrill out of whining, moaning and complaining. and surely that's NOT your intention, is it??

Yeah, I know. 'Don't call me Shirley.'

Lighten up, too, while you're at it!

BTW, great post, JAS! You're my kinda FT-er!

Okay, so I have pretty much drained my facilities and they are ready to be moved around if necessary. I sold off those products and picked up another $72mill from one farm which just might be enough to buy a new mansion.

Sure hope they have some decent looking border collies to buy and it would be nice if they were as active as the baby deer !!

A train and lots of accessories would be nice.

Mountains (not un-plantable grass humps) would be nice too.

And perhaps some face lifts for a few of the facilities will be welcomed.

and

and

and

farm #9 would make it a great, and long, weekend.

I think my wish list is changing.

I wish the devs would put us out of our misery. If it's not coming tonight, couldn't they just slip us a message saying 'Sorry, not yet, working hard to keep you happy.' Perhaps each Thursday or Friday, when they know it's not coming that week, they could leave a message here so we don't waste our time.

Wish on...

Been gone most of the day, thought for sure I'd log in and see something new. But here I am, still at 160. Patience, patience.

I sure like the southwestern theme suggestion. Old western town, cactus, train, etc. The burger and dinner restaurant would fit in great.

I think they should throw farms 8 and 9 in at the same time! :D

That baby deer IS cute, isn't it? My stags are a little weird, though. It's like they get stuck on one part of the movement and do it over and over. I watched one poor thing stand up and lie down about 50 times in a row! And other one was stuck in the head toss part of the movement. ('Course what does that say about me that I sat here and watched it for that long! :D)

WOW ... so much impatience about the next update ...

This is a GREAT post and so true!! Thank for for posting it!!!

I am in Australia and for the past two hours I haven't been able to work on neighbours facilities and now I can't load my farm. I hope it is because the upgrade is coming really soon but the timing is off for that I think. I am happy (sort of lol) to wait another week but the glitches over the past week have been a little frustrating so I hope there won't be another week or more like that.

i'am also level 160 but, i'am playing not that long i guess. i'am here from november 5, so i think i start to play this game some weeks before the date. so not more then 4 months then. but i have play this game before also. but quit with it because i have played farmville! and really they have regular updates BUT a lot of bugs and sometimes IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY that game!!! thats why i have quit farmville. i have played other games, but a neighboure of me ask to come over here. and really for me its relaxing no bugs ,but when there are bugs you CAN STILL PLAY farmtown :D but i think when you play this game for a year of so, its gets boring maybe ;) and yes i'am also a little bit disspointed ;) but the update comes :) when whe dont now ;) why dont you try to redecorate youre farms ? then you have something to do lol :)

I don't think it's a case of being bored with my farms, I'm not. It's more a case of looking for new challenges and planning ahead. I've started to run down some of the facilities I'm planning to move so, yes, I'm a little impatient for a new farm. I've stopped playing all the other games I used to work (some quite successfully) because of the fact that this game is so good now.
A new release is definately eagerly awaited here. :D

I ran down all my facilities too. Cashed in and the bank accounts at both farms would purchase #8 and #9 too. lol

This morning I harvested everything... 7 empty farms now at each site. And so for the next few days at least... I am going to rearrange (again) and have some fun moving things. That part of the game is also enjoyable, at least for me.

now...

come on devs.... release lots of goodies, facilities, tools, and stuff to buy and decorate with.

that's why I quit the game for now ... this has been a marvelous game, but without new "things" and more land, it's become more like a job than entertainment. Cleared out the storage of all non-ingredients, loaded up facilities 10 days ago and am just letting them run out. No incentive to harvest barns or trees. Nothing to spend FC or coins on, no challenges until the next update (getting to level 160 isn't a particular goal of mine). In the meantime, I'm using my time more constructively doing "real" things ... like crafts and stitch projects.

Please consider putting out an occasional announcement when we're waiting for a new farm. PLEASE? :) :) :)

I didn't suggest they give us a date when it WILL come out, as I recognise that's not possible. I just asked if they could tell us that it WON'T be coming out this week. Then people don't have to waste lots of time in the forums, and others can keep planting rather than holding off.

I think reasonable people will understand that the great things they are preparing for us might take longer some times than others.

I've read that when people are kept informed of the process, they go along with it far more willingly than when they are kept in the dark and are full of uncertainty.

Thanks for your prompt response. I appreciate you caring. I think the post you mentioned and I are in basic agreement about wanting to hear that it's NOT coming out this week. She added the bit about sometime next week (still keeping it vague) but I can see that would still pin the devs down too much. I would happily accept a message from them saying:

Not a hope of getting it done this week
OR
We're trying hard and there's a slim chance of it being ready by Friday but don't hold your breath
OR
Pulling out all the stops and we're very confident it will be ready next week.

They could phrase it so we know they're doing their best both to work on the programmes and to keep us informed. It would actually be good to hear from them so they become real to us, like you moderators are. I think I'd like to hear some of the difficulties they face trying to keep us happy. (Or would that open them to abuse from some of the forum members? I certainly wouldn't want that.) I'm just thinking as I type. People who have been playing longer would know if it's been tried before and rejected because it didn't work in practice.

Oh, come on people! I know many of you are homebound, limited in entertainment options, whatever, but give it up. Begging, pleading and threatening is foolish. And it looks foolish. Why should these devs tell us ANYTHING??? We are beta-testing a free game for them and enjoying it. I can't see they owe us any advance warning of anything. If someone is building his/her life and schedule around some phantom update release rumor they do so at their own risk, and shouldn't get huffy when the rumor does not come to pass.

I bolded a few words in the above post, because apparently this poster does not remember when, in the not-so-distant-past, updates came out months and months apart, not weeks. And these were "major" updates with huge upgrades and improvements to the game -- like adding harvestable animals, harvestable flowers, you know. They seemed like unexpected surprises when they came. It was fun and low pressure.

Honestly, I wish everyone would just calm down and add another hobby. This is getting ridiculous.

I do have a real life, and a small kid and my hobbies ...and 1 of my hobbies is farmtown too . Before it whas different . When we started to play the game we whas having a lot of achievments to do, there whas no time to think of a new update...we whas allways busy with our farms, we whas always having something to work on . But 1 day have come the day when we have reached the maximum level and now there s nothing new to do...u alllways do the same thing. And dont tell me please that i should redecorate my farm !!! I cant be redecorating my farm every 1-2 weeks - thats not the point of the game . I need some new entertainment on my farm, something new and interesting to do ...some new achievments ...
A good comunication between devs/mods and the players make a perfect game !!! Maybe the devs should tell us anything cause we pay for some items with cash - real money ?? Dont u think ?? The game is free - true , but not everything in the game is free !!
I hope u understand what i want to say ;)

And i m not saying i m not thankful for what the devs do for us !! I M VERY THANKFUL ...farmtown for me is the BEST GAME ON FACEBOOK !! But there s needed some more comunication between players and devs/mods. I think i m not the only one who think soo.

Why on earth are you getting so huffy? I said I wasn't complaining. And yes, I remember perfectly will when major updates were months apart. But they haven't been in the recent past, so one gets used to the newer "schedule". If the posts bother you so much, you can stop reading through them. Sheesh.

I have a right to my opinions, you know.

There was a long series of posts begging/cajoling/whining/pleading etc. for better/different/more personal communication with the devs. I was not responding to you in particular, except for the statement about updates being on a schedule. I just don't get the obsession with this.

I think we have perfectly fine communication with the devs via the mods. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. In my mind, I would rather they spent their time and energy on development of the game, not in answering posts on a message board filled with -- well, I will be prudent and not say what I am thinking.

I read this forum -- and only this particular board -- to stay posted on updates and how those updates shake out for folks. I choose not to read the suggestions or social forums. If I want to read it -- and comment on it -- I will. If you don't want to read my comments, scroll on by. I will do you the same favor.

Actually, maybe I didn't word my original post as carefully as I could have, but what I was suggesting really amounted to LESS communication from the devs. That it might have been easier NOT to have been told that farm 8 was coming out in the next release, which got everybody (including me) excited about it. But hey, FT is a great game, and sure, I can wait, and I will be thrilled when it does come out, 'cause I've got plans for it.

And sure, you've got a right to your opinion. We've got no argument.

levarti2
Jan 15 2011, 04:20 PM
those of us who are impatient are so because FT is so addictive. It's addictive because it stays "new" with all the updates. There's no obvious "you got to the end and now you win" ... so they must keep the improvements coming or people (like me) stop playing entirely when it becomes work instead of fun.

I know the devs are busy because it is a business for them and when there aren't new things to buy with FC, they aren't making REAL $.

While everyone is convinced that we will not get the update until next Friday since we didn't get it yesterday, that may or may not be true. I know the last few updates have come out on a Friday but I have seen updates come out everyday of the week even on major holidays in the US. The update could come out in the next hour or it could come out next month we just have to wait and see.

Now as far as the developers letting us know what week that is not a good idea because what if they came on yesterday and said "we will have the update out next week". Then something happened and they could get it released people would be upset that they didn't meat the date they gave. Trust me it is just better that they don't give any kind of a time frame other then coming soon or next update. On them telling us what will be in the next update that comes from people asking for that type of information, they used to rarely give hints of what was coming now they do give us hints.

So true, it can happen at any time. I remember waking up on a Sunday morning, coming to my farm to check the crops and there was an update on the levels. I was like a child in a candy shop that morning. Oh how I love surprises like that. :D

Barely ;) We are addicts after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who else would sit around refreshing and refreshing all weekend just incase it finally happened..

We are grateful to the developers and Say thankyou for all you do for us... Honest we are not rushing you... just excited!!!!!!!!!!

back to planting 2 and 4 hour crops cuz you just never know.. LOL and of course to refresh yet one more time. ;)

22 dec 2009 then next update was on the 28 jan 2010

so just wait

There is no set schedule for the updates just because an update came out on 22nd of Dec. 2009 and one came out on the 23 last month means nothing. There was a major problem with the game the developers where trying to fix at that time and starting in February the facilities started coming out so they where getting ready for some major changes in the game at that time. That is way there was a month in between updates and when we got one at the end of January it was only Valentines day stuff.

I am here killing time while some items on my farm mature ... I can't believe what I am seeing in the posts ...

You all have to understand that Devs DON'T and Shouldn't communicate directly with users ... I am a designer and developer myself and in my position I always have a go between (an Administrator or a Liason) who speaks to the users. This is because the users WANT, WANT, WANT and are not particularly tolerant of a developer telling them that either it can't be done or it is going to take more time. ... Direct communication has been tried and DOES NOT WORK.

The Devs were very nice in telling us that Farm 8 and more levels would be coming in the next release, but even that doesn't work as shown by the constant badgering and whining on this board. If you have been around for more than a year you can probably remember when we plowed, planted, harvested and sold our crops ... then we had only ONE farm ... when there were NO facilities ...

Get off the backs of the Devs and let them work at their own pace ... you CAN'T RUSH the upgrades ... if they start rushing to bow to your incessant pressure and impatience the quality of this game will be affected ... and then they will have people whining about the problems ... the Devs are doing their job and have given us the best free game I have played on the internet ... If you are "bored" with the game perhaps you need to take a break and go play something else or go DO something else ... try playing the zynga games ... you will come back here grateful for the job the devs do ...

Now relax, have a cup of java and leave the Devs alone ... the upgrade will arrive when it is ready and will not cause the game to fall apart ...

My thanks to the Devs for a great job and for their attention to detail ... My thanks to the Moderators for trying to keep this a civilized thread ... ;)

DITTO!!!!!! This is the only game I play that does NOT have problems when they roll out a new release. (Sometimes a few minor glitches...which are taken care of promptly!!)

Try playing Farmville if you don't like it here. That rolls out new stuff every second and has the glitches to go with it.

They will most likely not hint as to when it comes out...there has been a debate about it if you read the last few pages lol. The last time the devs gave a specific date and didn't come, that was really bad, which is why they don't give specific dates anymore.

Yeah, I am doing "housecleaning" too. Actually, farm cleaning. I intend to re-design the majority of my numerous farms. Two are about done at one of the accounts I work at. And there will be a few name changes coming too. (as the devs would say, they are "coming"...... "coming')

My thanks to the Devs for a great job and for their attention to detail ... My thanks to the Moderators for trying to keep this a civilized thread ...

I think you mean "thou." Holier than thou.

Before you ask -- yeah, I probably am, too.

And I don't know why you should accuse someone of being sanctimonious just because they see things differently than you do. That's just nasty and unneccessary. Why attack this person for her opinion, which is grounded in her experience????

Of course, the last time I said everyone was entitled to express their opinions (about matters related to Farm Town, not in denigrating other posters) I got hammered.

I agree. Actually that is what the forums are for, everyone expressing their opinions. And there are many experiences because of all the variations possible in a game such as this, i.e. neighbors, gifts, browser, whether they are with FB or MySpace, etc.....

You couldn't have said it better Jennifer. While I do check the forums a few times a day to see if the new release is out I am not obsessed about it or whining like an infant about when it will be out like some are. To me it will be here when it is here like all the others. Just a thought...maybe it is taking extra time because it is going to be THAT good?. I remember when we had ONE farm and had to do all our plowing, seeding, harvesting one square at a time. There was no hiring others, facilities, fish etc. This game has come so far and the devs are AMAZING for giving us such a great game to play and I thank them. I also thank the mods who try their best to keep their cool and succeed when they deal with these people who just will not quit complaining and whining.

While I still go to my farm occasionally to plant, have it harvested or maybe fill facilities etc I am taking a break right now. I will NOT sit here ALL day long because the update MIGHT come out. I love the game too but that is way overboard. I return gifts my friends send, collect my eggs, milk etc and am content to wait for the update because one thing is for sure it WILL be worth every day we waited for it when it is here. This game is soooo much better than Z games. Those games are updated all the time but they have the glitches and bugs to go with it too that they take DAYS on end to fix if they get fixed at all. I want the new update too but I am patiently waiting for it...it is ALWAYS worth the wait when it comes to Farmtown!

The forums are for people expressing their opinions about the game not each other. I know some people can be rude when giving their opinion but it is not up to other posters to point that out. If the mods have a problem with the opinion or the way it is expressed they can deal with it that is their job. It is not up to other posters to come in and tell people they are wrong for their opinion or how they give it. I personally think all such posts should be deleted off the forum because they have no place on the forum and are not what the forum is here for.

I rather like not knowing when upgrades are coming out.

They usually happen overnight here in the UK. I totter downstairs in my dressing-gown, make a cup of tea, look at my emails and do essential maintenance on the farm. At some point, I realise there are new seeds, or a facility has changed, and it's like a surprise present.

I absolutely love the distillery. The only trouble is I've become obsessed with keeping it in full production and the Brandy is literally swallowing most of my white wine.

Oh you Brits, Swallowing? How crude.

The good Brandy produced at MY distilleries is offered with a snifter, and sipped in comfort.

I am also a designer and developer, since the mid 80's, working in many technologies, environments, and industries during that time. I have spent most of my career working directly with the customers/users/business partners, plus vendors, on projects big and small.

Because of this, I find that I get better results as I can better understand the domain of the business, the domain of an issue/opportunity, and the customer(and their expectations), while reducing the chances of misinterpretation due to intermediate translations. I also see an increase in customer satisfaction by the personal and improved communications. It also affords me the opportunity to help the user understand technical issues(really ones and not made up ones to use as an excuse for not delivering the right solutions at the right time).

This open line of communications also improves on trust and builds up what some of us call an 'emotional bank account'; this also leads to loyalty and even customer enthusiasm. When I tell my customers that something is not feasible or that will take longer than they think it will(customers ability to estimate is not their best skill), they believe me. If I make a mistake, it is forgiven, so long as success out weighs any mistakes.

And, I am able to offer, through dialog, trust, and understanding, alternatives and sometimes show them new opportunities.

Because I work with my customers(and don't treat them as the enemy), I also see problems, issues, and opportunities that they sometimes
fail to recognize. And, because I work with them, I have also seen their reactions to when they are forced to work with a go between.

So, it does not always fail, and I would say far from it.

Now, of course, users can get spoiled in this way, so managing their expectations, which is where the trust and communications come in, is very important.

Now, with all of that said, I can agree, riding the devs, pushing them, and trying to rush an implementation is definitely wrong and will not result in quality results. If there was some federal mandate, lawsuit, or major revenue opportunity involved, it would be different; however, this is a game.

But a little communication and trust building can go a long way. No, they will not make everyone happy, but you can choose who you would like to build that trust and loyal with.

OMG those zynga games drive me nuts!!! However, thinking about how horribly those games function, and how wonderfully this game does as well as all the wonderful upgrades, well... it leaves me wondering if the devs of this game ever think about doing another game. Cleared out all my food and drink facilities and put them in storage awaiting Farm 8. Planted as much rhubarb as I could fit on spaces left by those factories to make up the $$. Now I can just sit back and wait for the new farm, no worries. Am I correct in assuming when my level changes it means the day has arrived?

Not active in FT for now. Though it's fun, it's simply too time consuming and such a temptation because it is fun. I was, however, thinking how much more fun it was before I got caught up in it and only had two, maybe three, farms. When I resume, the way to go may be to just keep up a couple farms, set the others to look as I want them to look and go with that approach. Remains to be seen. For now, most of my fields are snow covered because -- well, it is winter :)
So if no updates come until well into spring, that works for me, though I understand others being anxious for the new challenges.

FarmMeister, I thoroughly agree with your comments about openness and good communication bringing greater satisfaction! It was what I had in mind when I started a lot of this with my wish list that the devs would tell us when an update is NOT going to be ready; I understand that they can't give us a date when it WILL be ready. I can wait happily as long as I'm not spending my time wondering if it will be this weekend.

I enjoy seeing the comments that people make in these forums, even when I don't agree with them. The only ones that make me uneasy are those where people refer to others as 'whining'. I haven't noticed any whining; I've noticed people enjoying the opportunity to share their hopes and frustrations with fellow game addicts; I've seen comments that I regard as being tongue-in-cheek where people are laughing at themselves at the same time as expressing frustration. The strong feelings that are expressed are, to me, an indication of how good the game is, that it gets us all so involved.

Well done devs for such a good game.

Well done devs and mods for giving us the opportunity to share how we feel.

I began playing around May of 2009. My husband played FT with me until we reached the 3rd farm which needed 30 neighbors to purchase. He stopped, and I just kept on trucking. Yesterday he said that he might start back playing and I began telling him about all the facilities, the tools, the facilities manager, and so much more that has changed in that short period of time. It took me more than a hour to tell him the differences. That's when I truly realized what a great job the devs are doing. It's a great game, very addictive, and a wonderful way to meet new friends from around the world. IT'S THE BEST PART OF FACEBOOK!!! Devs...keep up the good work and take your time. I know that many, many more great updates are on the way!

I didn't see it on the tools guide: I would like exact instructions for the orange manure spreader before I buy it. Does it have to be ON the farm I'm fertilizing. Actually, I don't care about that, moving them around isn't so bad: BUT do I have to have both manure spreaders present on the farm where the pigs are in order to get them both filled up? Logic and the insurmountable task of virtually moving 54 pig's-worth of manure from one to another farm would say NO, but I would like to, well, KNOW.

Nope you can put the fertilizer in storage that way you can go to each farm to fertilize, without moving it.
