Hiring and Bonus Chest

I understand that a job hire lasts 8 hours but I was working a farm earlier today and after about 3 hours my hire expired. It happened when I was moving from one farm to the next. I did not think to get the farm id of the farm I was working on at the time.

When this happens is there a way to re-establish that I was hired to work on the person's farms?

Did the hire expire with a pop up saying so or did you just got bumped off of the farm? The hire expires after 8 hours to keep someone from sitting on the farms waiting for more work to get ready that they were not hired for.
I am sorry but there is no way for you to get the id of the farms.

No it did not I was just moving from one farm to the next after redeeming the job completion bonus for the farm I was on and all of the farm navigation squares went green and I had no access to any tools anymore. There was no popups at all. I was still on the farm.

If that is the case they may have hired more than 1 person and they finished the rest of the farms. Beyond that I am not sure what happened, but I don't have any way for you to get back to the job.

There was work on the farms but it was harvesting flowers and they had to be watered first before they could be harvested. There was no one else hired to work the farms. I was solo. I was also disconnected from the server a couple of times while working the farm but reconnected. Could I have been connected to a server in a different timezone than where I am that could have affected the hire timer the last time I had to reconnect?

All the servers for the game are locsted in one location and all are run using eastern time, so no that would not be the reason why.

Are you getting that message when you click in the bonus chest icon?

If so, extra coins and products are added no matter the message shows up?

OR you do not get anything when you click in the bonus checst icon and the message shows up?

Sorry for my late reply. It happens when I click on the chest when I'm done with a farm. It just happened again. Just one one of the 44 farms I worked.

I can see in your data that you were working for a farmer and you got the bonus chest.

Are you loading the game from a saved link in your computer? If you do, then please logout and then login using this link:
https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/login

Then please clear your memcache, link below. A new window will open with a short list of unsettings. Close that window and your farms in all tabs you have it open. Then reopen your farms.

After that, go to market and see if you get the same problem when you are hired.

I was harvesting/plowing on a farm last night named Hooterville, it was a huge city with piles and piles of trees, plants, flowers etc on top of each other. It was never ending. I kept going thinking I finished the job and it kept saying I won't get the reward until I am done. I was there for 2 whole hours. Some of the plants were buried under the trees and I was unable to harvest them. I reward was up to 400,000.00. I wasted my time and never got the reward. I want this farm to be checked because I think this person is sneaky and cheating so we can do his harvesting and not get paid.

We do not have data about the farms you are hired for if you dont get the bonus chest.

To get the bonus chest, you have to be hired at market by a stranger.

If you start working, and you dont see the bonus chest on the left side of that farm, then it is possible that you were hired by a neighbor or a buddy. That is why you didnt get the bonus chest.

I had a look to your data and yesterday you were hired for a big job, you got coins and products but the farm name is not the one you posted here.

There are several possibilities in this case. Either they didn't own the larger fishing boats, they did not have you allowed to use their tools, or they own the larger fishing boat but did not have it in their storage. All of those depend on the employer and not something wrong with the game.

Ok, thanks. They were not a friend or neighbor so I could only take their word they had a larger fishing boat than me. Thanks for your feedback. That makes more sense.

There must be a way to tell if a person is a neighbor when in the hiring market. Or make it so neighbors get coins if they work your farm. Maybe neighbors can be outlined in blue or something. Just a thought. I hire those willing to work, I can't remember all my neighbors' names.

When you hire someone at market the request shows you if you are hiring a Neighbor or Buddy and also the farmer receiving the requests is able to see the same.

They can not go to a farm that you do not have a check in for work. So if you had those farms checked because you listed many jobs for thwem to work then they were doing what you asked. The only thging I can tell you is to be sure you only have the farms checked that you want them to work on.
The only other possibility is one of your 2 super neighbors may have done those.

Thanks, I know one SN didn't because that's me, but it literally happened right after I hired about 4 people to do 4-5 farms each and those farms weren't marked for anything but fishing on one of them. Hopefully it won't happen again, but I did set the farms I use for quests and FP goals to private.

I just checked your data and you got all the fish you are talking about in your last hire by a stranger.

If after that you worked for a neighbor/buddy then we have not data for those.

I also checked your storage and I dont see those fish stored, so if you filled factories using them after you were hired, then they were used there.

Or the other possibility is you sold them individually.

I just tested this and I got the pop up and was able to go back to those farms and complete the job.

Remember you have to return to your own farm within 10 minutes after losing the job to get the pop up.

Try doing a mock hire in the market or with a neighbor and uncheck the box for using your tools. Don't complete the hire, but close it when you get to the second pop up.

Then go to the market to hire again to hire and check the box for tools going on and hiring for the job.


It could just be that those you have hired do not understand what tools they can use. They should be handed the largest tool for the first job on the farm, but some do not understand and drop it for one of their own. I have had lower level players come to my farm , but they use their own smaller tool for harvesting until I explain to them they can use my larger ones and tell them where to find it and what colors it is.

Only thing I can suggest is make sure that you have the check in the box for allowing them to use your tools. We have not been able to duplicate this unless it is someone new who doesn't know how to get to the right tools. When they land on the farm to work they should already be handed the best tool for the job, be it your or theirs.

Sorry it's taken so long to see this post and reply to you.

I have moved your post from suggestions to help and support as you should be seeing the indicator of who is hiring you in the hire offer you receive so that you could reject it if you wished.

Examples so you know where that would show up:

The person hiring you should also see a blue or green indicator when they click on your avatar to know that you were either a neighbour or a buddy. If they see that then they don't have to hire you. That blue or green indicator would show to them underneath your avatar name as long as you were on one of their lists.

Could it be possible that these were very recent neighbours or buddies and that you or they may not have reloaded the game after accepting a request, before going to market to be hired?

If it's not that:


Are they showing up on your neighbours list or on your buddy list
Are they seeing you on their neighbours list or on their buddy list.

If one of you can not see the other in your neighbours list or buddy list then that could be what the problem is.

No there isn't a time limit that we know of. If he sat without doing anything for a while he may have timed out, but all he would have to do is reconnect.
As far as the tools he may not have been able to use the log truck on that farm if there weren't any trees on that farm to chop. Any trees on that farm may have needed the shaker and he didn't understand that. He would be handed the tools needed for each farm one after the other as he completed each type of work.

It has not been removed. However if you are suddenly disconnected or freeze then it doesn't know to send the pop up. The pop up works if you leave a job before it is complete and go to your own farms within 10 minutes.

When you fish, you get 100% of the selling price and also 50% of what you fish.
Then in the bonus chest you can receive some xp for fishing.

I can tell you that when you started working you had 47.843.127 XP and when you finished, you had 48.415.554 that means you got 572,427 XP

Edited to Add: I visited the farms you were working on and they are all harvested not plowed.

I copied your post from suggestions to answer the second part of it.
You already have a way to select all farms that have chop trees on them. In the drop down list you have specific jobs and one of those is Hire to chop. Select that, then click on Show Work, then click the All button and that will select only those farms that have chop trees.
You can do that far any type of job you want to hire for or you can choose the Hire for multiple jobs and then select only the jobs you want them to do then again click Show Work and All to select the farms for those jobs.

i have gone to the marketplace for work and i think i am getting the job offers but every time the offer starts to open it closes what is going on it worked fine yesterday but the white boxes have started to open and then closed also i was preparing a ship yesterday it had 4.6 minuets per container to load after about the first 3 i started to do the 4th one got a message pop up saying it was done and when i opened it to to load the next one it said it still ha nearly 5 minuets to go what is going on i have been playing this game since 2009 and never had this before

Also be sure that your browser and operation system are up to date.
After an update it is always better to restart your computer.

It sounds like this is a neighbor or buddy you were working for. You do not get the bonus experience, crops or coins when you work for either of those. Working with others too would cause you to not get much of the normal amounts you would get either.
Most players prefer to work solo and for strangers from the market to get the most they can from the work. The Game Guide Chapter 9 has all the information about hiring and getting hired:

I, myself, even had trouble when clicking on any farmers in the marketplace to hire them to work. So, that's it??? If someone just be away for 6 days and Farm Town would assume they are not playing anymore??? What's going on??? Can't people be sick???

There is nothing the game has done to give you problems due you were not playing for some days.

Please check that your browser and your operation system are up to date.
After any update it is always better to restart your computer.

About the farmer you hired at market, if they didnt get the bonus chest then it is possible they were your neighbor or buddy or you are their neighbor or buddy.

You can only hire your super neighbors to plant for you and that is only if you have that option set for them. You can not hire strangers to plant.

Do you use CCleaner and have Kamo installed?
If so, please uninstall the Kamo as it can block the other players information so you don't see them.

If you don't have CCleaner it may be that your antivirus program such as Avast or any other online tracking blocker is not letting you see people at markets and you will have to remove them.

Do you mean that after hiring someone and they accept, you click in "Great I'll go with you" and you are not taken to your farms?

I just hired someone at market and had no problems to go back to my farms with them.

Please clear your memcache, link below. A new window will open with a new list of unsettings. Close that window and your farm in all tabs you have it open. Then reopen your farms.

At the least you should hhave had your own tools. It is up to the employer to whether they allow you to use their tools.
You should have had the largest of your fishing boats, even if they did not allow you to use their tools, handed to you as long as there were fish on that farm to do.

Did you look on the farm to see if they were plowed or not? The floating text only tells you something was harvested. It does not say harvested and plowed. To see if the farms were plowed you would have to look or click on the Show Work in the Show Names.

I had a look at your data and it shows 3 jobs during the morning, one of them for 13 farms.
For all 3 jobs you got the bonus chest.

Im not sure what happened, but it could be that you had an internet issue at that moment.

When you get the message that not all job was completed, you need to refresh the farm you were working on by clicking in the rectangle in the grid and then try to check every job you were hired for by using the smallest tools.
By refreshing the farm, you will not lose the bonus chest.

Try clearing your memcache, you have the link below the farm screen. A new window will open with a short list of unsettings. Close that window and your farms and then reopen.

It is supposed that if the farm owner tools are in storage then you should get them if those tools are bigger than yours.

We can't check if we do not have a link to that farm and the farmer didn't post here about that problem.

If you started working and you saw the bonus chest icon then when you finished and clicked in the icon you should have got a pop up to get your bonus or to tell you that something was missing.
If something was missing, then you can refresh that farm and check if something more shows up.

If you started working and you didnt see the bonus chest icon, then you both were neighbors or buddies or you were not hired at market.

As I said, Im sorry but we can't check that farm without a link and it is possible that at this time it is already harvested and plowed again.

If you are not getting the bonus then you have been hired by a neighbor or buddy. You do not get a bonus when you are hired by either of those. Also you must be hired in the job market.

The second time I hired at the job MP, I never received any xps per farm/s for hiring out to the same stranger . My farms were fertilized. I did receive extra crop boxes both times. The only data we have for hiring is when you are hired by other farmer, but we cant check anything when you are the one hiring. The only way to check that is if you provide the other farmer user id number.

The only thing I can tell you is that the xp showing up in your data are:

I moved your post to the thread about hiring as that is what you are talking about. You can't do anything with thatuntil you get to their farms and can pick another tool. The Auto select in your preferences is for your own farms and doesn't have anything to do with when you are hired. That is always set for it to select a tool for you.

I moved your post to the thread about hiring. As she did not own any of the EX tools she may not have know how to get to them. She should have been handed one when she got to each farm, but may have not recognized how to use them and the shaded area didn't look right.

I assume you went back and hired someone else to finish the farms. Did they have any trouble getting the EX tools?
If that isn't it then I don't know what would cause it as she should have been handed the largest one when she arrived at the farm. All I can suggest it to try clearing the memcache (link at the bottom of your farm page) and see if that helps. Make sure you have that set for tools when you next hire.

No, they dont have to be at certain level.

If your tools are in your storage and you have enough fuel for them to use, then when they arrive to your farms, they should receive your tools if they are bigger than theirs.

I dont know which setting you have for allowing your fuel. If you have fuel set to let them use it First then there should be no problems.

But if you have set the use of your fuel to Last and they do not have fuel to start working, then they will only be able to use the big tools.

have plenty of fuel and all tools all in storage so must be a glitch somewhere as like to help people starting out have it all set for them to use both but do they have to have some tools for it to work as the last person said have no tools

Amanda, we know you have plenty of fuel.

But please check if you are allowing your fuel FIRST or LAST. You can check that, when you are hiring ang get the screen to choose the jobs.

If you are allowing it LAST and the hired farmer doesnt have fuel then they will not be given big tools to start working.

If you have it set to FIRST, there should be no problems. In that case, try clearing your memcache, link below the game screen, and see if the problem is fixed.

Be patient as it can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days for them to respond to you depending on how many tickets they have ahead of yours.

yes it is just checked it only time I change it is when they say they have fuel but change it back after so when that farmer said she couldn't use my tools went and checked it was ticked to use but yes I will clean mem cache before hiring from now on, might just be the problem

It should kick in when they run out, but may not if they fuel left for only a partial amount of what size tool they are using. If it doesn't then they need to refresh that farm to continue with your fuel.
