How to use the Camera in your Toolbox to take a picture and post it in the forum.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/CAMERA.png
You must be logged into your Forum account to be able to post a picture.
You must be logged into your Farm Town game on the Slashkey Website to be able to take a picture with the in game camera.
You need to have taken a recent picture of what it is you want us to see using the in game Camera if you are supplying a picture to request help (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=1).
You can also showcase your farms in the social section (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16) of the forum.
The in game Camera is a free tool that you can use in your yellow toolbox to take photos of your farms.
NOTE: If you do not have a Facebook account or no longer have access to use it:
After clicking on the Camera you will need to Remove the check mark for the option to Post to Facebook BEFORE you click on Next.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/REMOVE CHECK MARK FOR POST TO FB.png
After removing the check mark you click on Next and the photo will be published to your temporary holding area in the Account tab the Farm Pictures (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/settings2/farm_pictures/) section.
You can then go to that section and copy the image link for the picture.
That image link can then be used to post the picture on the forum.
If you can't regain access to your original FB account and created a new FB account you can also use the link to post the picture to your new FB account. Details further down this post.
Please make sure that when you click on the camera that you use the Small size to take a picture of what it is you want to show on your farms. The Medium and Large sizes are too wide for the forum and will be deleted by a moderator.
To show the whole farm use the Farm option:
These examples show Farm Mode selected (orange background) and what using Small size looks like when seeing a picture of the entire farm posted on the forum. This farm is 60x60 in size.

https://c11.slashkey.com/img/farm/2023-09/105891661209283_2_1694367078.jpg
These examples show Window mode (orange background) which gives you the option of taking a picture of only part of the farm instead of all of it, when posted on the forum.

How to find and use the Snipping Tool
(Snip & Sketch Tool)
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SNIPPING TOOL.png
Picture widths suitable for the forum are: Pixels 800 OR 21 centimeters OR 8 inches.
The Windows free Paint program can show you what the width is when you view the image properties in Paint.
The MAC snipping tool has numbers attached the crosshair pointer which, if you can read them as they are small, may help with knowing MAC snip sizes.
IF you are showcasing your farm and/or need to show the entire farm, it's far easier to use the in game camera set to take the picture at small size than to figure out the width by using a snip.
What we do not need or want are Full Screen sized pictures.
Those are far too wide and show far more than is needed making your farm look much smaller in the picture.
Using a snipping tool to take a picture of a portion of your farm is popular when needing to show something that may be small or very detailed on a farm and for those that love to design farms in detail BUT the new width of the game screen that we are all playing on does mean that this causes an issue with the size of pictures that can be posted on the forum as the width of game screen at 100% zoom is far wider than the forum threads are.
If you've previously used the Snipping Tool using your Windows or MAC computer and are already familiar with how to use the tool and save the picture you can save the picture, then skip down to the instructions on How to Post the Picture to Facebook or How to post a Picture in the Forum.
Detailed instructions on How to use the Snipping tool are listed first then followed by How Save your Snip (Picture), How to Post your picture to Facebook, then how to upload your picture to the Forum should you need to do that.
How to open & use the Snipping Tool:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/WIN MAC TARGETS.png
MAC Computers The method to select an area to take a snip is similar to the windows method but the way you open the snipping tool and then save it is different. You may find it much easier to go to Apple support and read their instructions on all the various ways to use the snipping tool on MAC computers. Here's the Link to click on: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201361
MAC users
To open your Snipping Tool - press and hold down the Shift, Command and 4 keys and your crosshair pointer will immediately show to be able to select an area.
Drag the crosshair to select the area of the screen to capture. To move the selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging.
To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Esc (Escape) key.
To take the screenshot, release your mouse or trackpad button.
If you see a thumbnail in the corner of your screen, click it to edit the screenshot. Or wait for the screenshot to be saved to your desktop.
By default, screenshots will be saved to your desktop with the name ”Screen Shot [date] at [time].png.”
When you have done those, scroll down the page for the instructions on Facebook methods to upload a picture and the instructions on how to post the picture on the forum.
Windows computers:
Keyboard Shortcuts: - press and hold down the Windows Shift and S keys to open it.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM WIN SHIFT S.png
OR https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SNIPPING TOOL.png Click on the Snipping Tool in your Task Bar if you can see it.
The Windows Task bar is usually seen at the bottom of your computer screen.
OR Use Windows Search and type in Snipping Tool to find it on your computer.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/WIN SEARCH SNIP.png
If you don't see a search tool or a small search box to type in to find the tool, click on the Windows icon and it will show you something similar to this with a search box at the very top where you can start to type in Snipping Tool.
You should then see the Snipping Tool appear that you need to to click on, doesn't matter which one:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/forum guide/SNIP/Win 11 search Snipping Tool.png
When you open the snipping tool you will see this menu.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SNIPPING TOOL MENU.png
We suggest if you are new to using the snipping tool that you make sure the top 2 sections are set like the picture, Rectangle Mode and No Delay.
You can change them to something else if you wish.
Click on New then the mini menu window will show. A White Crosshair sign will appear
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/WIN MINI PLUS.png
The background colour of the left icon in the picture can differ depending on your windows settings.
As you move your mouse that White Crosshair sign will move with it. Move it to one of the top corners of the area you want to copy then hold the left mouse button down and drag it down to the opposite corner of the area you are copying. As you do that the area you are copying will no longer be dimmed out.
In this Example I have moved the mouse to where the the top left arrow is showing.
Then held the left mouse button down and dragged it to where the bottom right arrow is showing.
It doesn't matter which corner you start at as long as you hold the left button down while you drag the mouse diagonally over to the other corner.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/COPIED AREA WITH AROWS.png
When you release the left button the snip will be taken and you will see a preview of what you have taken. If it's not right you can just click on New and try again.
IMPORTANT: When you are using the picture for the forum:
If what you need to show us is small, just zoom in on the farm so you can see it clearer. You only need to take a snip the size of the area you need us to see.
If you need to show us any text in a picture and the text is small make sure when you take your snip that the text is readable.
Saving your Snip (Picture):
When you are happy with your image click on the disc icon to save the snip.
The save icon is indicated with an arrow:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SAVE SNIP.png
You need to make a note of where you are saving it so you can find it to be able to upload to Facebook. We suggest something like the default Saved Pictures or your Pictures folder, but it's up to you!
To post the picture to your Facebook profile:
Go to your Facebook Profile to make a new post. Click on the Photo/Video Icon:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/FB PHOTO VIDEO.png
The posting box will change and look like this. Click on the Add Photos/Videos Icon.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/FB ADD PHOTOS.png
If you have just taken your snip you should see it immediately and be able to click on it to select it.
If you do not, you need to click on the red button Show All Files and find the picture where you saved it on your computer.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SHOW ALL FILES.png
When you find where the picture is on your computer, click on the picture to select it, then click Open at the bottom right of that window.
Your picture will load and you can add any description you like to your Facebook post.
The Privacy of the photo must be set to Public or we will not be able to see it on the forum.
The image below shows the Facebook Post Privacy is set to Public. If it does not say Public, click on it to change it.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/FB PUBLIC SETTING 2.png
To Post the Picture in the Forum:
When your picture is posted to Facebook you need to get the picture link to be able to post it in the forum.
Right-click your mouse on the photo and you should see one of these options.
They are different depending on the browser you are using.
Click on the one that includes the words image over one that just says copy if you see more than one of these options:
Copy image address
Copy image location
Copy image link
Copy
When you have copied the link go to the forum thread you want to post in.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see the Quick Reply box
Click on the "Insert Image" icon indicated in the picture with a red arrow:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/IMAGE ICON ARROW.png
A small box will open. Your box may have a white background.
DELETE the http:// in the box.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/DELETE URL IMAGE BOX.png
"Right click" your mouse in the box and select "Paste".
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/ENTER URL IMAGE BOX 2.png.png
Click OK.
Your photo link will then show between the two IMG codes at the front and end of the link similar to this:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/IMAGE CODE ADDED 2.png
If you need to add information to the post click your mouse after the SECOND IMG] at the very end of your photo link, then click enter on your keyboard once or twice depending on what spacing you want to use, then type your message.
Your posting box could then look similar to this:
In this picture the description we have added is indicated with the arrow and is below the image link:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/IMAGE AND DESCRIPTION 2.png
If you would like to view how your picture and post will appear before you post it, at the bottom of the posting box you will see Go Advanced or Preview Post which you can click on to preview your post.
When you are happy with how your post looks, click on Submit Reply or Post Quick Reply and you should see your picture and any description appear with your forum name similar to this:

Sending a Picture to the Slashkey Support Team
IMPORTANT! You ONLY need to do this IF Support asks you to send one.
Support will let you know if one is needed and they will give you the email address to use themselves.
You will be sending it via email.
Before you take a photo of your farm you first need to CHECK that you will be showing whatever Support have asked you to show in the picture.
You may need to adjust your farm area and size to suit what needs to show in the picture:
Do you need to show Everything on the farm or only some things.
Do you need to show the whole farm or a portion of the farm.
If you need to show something small zoom in to see it bigger and if using the in game camera use the Window option to take the photo.
If it's text make sure that text is readable after you take your photo.
If you need to show the whole farm and are using the in game camera. Use the default Farm setting and the Small size unless support asked you to use a bigger size.
If you are already on your farm and may have just finished designing it, reload the farm or the game[/B] just in case anything is temporarily hidden that you may have forgotten about, and for any red squares that help indicate where hidden items are to disappear.
You can Refresh a farm without reloading the game if you have more than one farm. Look toward the top left of your game screen for coloured rectangles. The one with the yellow background is the farm that you are currently on. If you click on that yellow rectangle you will reload that farm. In this example Farm 1 is the farm this farmer is on.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/REFRESH FARM.png
Check your preference settings.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/PREFS.png
Make sure that you have check marks on everything that needs to show up in the picture.
The sections of preferences that you may want to use are indicated in red in the picture below.
Freeze animals can help to stop your animals moving if you want them in the picture.
If you make any changes remember to click on the green check mark at the bottom of the Preferences window to save the change.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/PREFS ALL RED.png
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SNIPPING TOOL.png Using the Snipping Tool on your Computer.
If you know how to use the Snipping tool on your computer, you can take a snip of the farm or part of the farm that support needs see. They will tell you what they want to see.
When you have got a snip that you are happy with, click on the Copy Icon.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/COPY SNIP.png
Go to your email that you are writing to support
Right click your mouse and select Paste and your picture will be posted into your email.
OR
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/CAMERA.png Using the In Game Camera and your Farm Photos in the Account tab.
Go to the farm you want to take a picture of.
You can not take a photo while in Full Screen mode.
If you try to take a picture while in Full Screen mode you will see this message. Even if you are not going to post the picture to Facebook you must still click on the green check mark to drop out of Full Screen Mode.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/FULL SCREEN NOT SUPPORTED ON FB.png
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/PREFS.png Remember to check if all your preferences are showing what you want support to see.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/TOOLBOX.png Click on the yellow toolbox bottom right of your game screen.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/CAMERA.png The Camera is located in your Toolbox in the 2nd column from the left at the very bottom. Click on it and you will be shown the Save this Picture window that has some options that you can choose to use.
There are 2 options at the top of the window. Farm and Window
To take a picture of the full farm you need to use Farm mode which is always set to default and has an orange background.
If you are posting to Facebook the picture will be limited to the size of the Facebook posting box, but once posted there, all you do to see it bigger is click on it.
These examples show Farm Mode selected and what using Small size looks like when seeing a picture of the entire farm posted on the forum. This farm is 60x60 in size.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/CAM/SAVE PICTURE FARM.png
https://c11.slashkey.com/img/farm/2023-09/105891661209283_2_1694367078.jpg
The other option Window mode gives you the option of taking a picture of only part of the farm instead of all of it.
Getting a picture right using Window mode can take some practice with zooming the farm size and moving the farm around to get the picture how you want it, but it can be useful if you want to show only a section of the farm or something small that would not be easily seen in a full farm picture.
To use Window mode click on the Window button to turn it orange.
You will see a mini picture of what that will look like. If it's not quite right, click on the red X top right of the window, adjust your farm and then try again.
These examples show Window Mode selected and what using Small size looks like when seeing a picture of the a portion of a farm posted on the forum.
