Hi MammaKanode,
Yes. It works in your browser. Doesn't matter what platform.

Will it still work cross platform on mac as well? Thanks!

Yep. Since it's going to be HTML, it will work anywhere you can access the Internet - any OS, any browser. We're not going to have to worry about that anymore.

Although I will say that I'm feeling a little nostalgic. This game - the Flash version - has been my "home" for many, many years. I do think the new one will be better - but this feels a bit like saying good-bye to an old friend.

What a GREAT game this is!

Thanks so much, Raul. For many, many years of enjoyment - plus your dedication to keeping it going even when technology changes. You definitely rock.

When can we expect a Turbo Semi, Turbo Bee Farm and Turbo Fish Farming Plant? The Sawmill is great and Metal Mill, but I'd have like to have seen these before the last 2. I guess I'll have to be patient for next time....Thank you for the hard work on HTML5! Hopefully it becomes smooth, FYI I'd love to put those first three I mentioned on all farms :)

Many thanks for the updates..

I wish you well with the change to html and hope things go smoothly.. is it possible to freeze farms should there be a delay because every other time we have lost coins (late on collection)... Quests (late to complete) and crops ++ also because of time..

Many thankls once again for a fun game. :)

There is a browser test for HTML based on a long list of criteria. I cannot share with you the URL for it here, but I am sure you will be able to find it if you run a Google or other search for it. The few farmers I know who use Safari, however, have reported that it came back with a better score than Google Chrome. In fact even Microsoft's version of Edge based on the Chromium kernel beat Google Chrome by 2 points when I ran the test myself. In any case most modern browsers have been making use of HTML for years and thus the version number 5. :) So while as you are not using an older Mac with an older version of Safari things should run smoothly.

In addition to thanks for the new updates I wanted to say thanks for not falling behind on the general support even though the HTML project is a major change. My brothers-in-law are an electrical engineer and physicist and one of my nieces is a computer engineer and they all admit that sometimes keeping up with the customer needs when problems develop is the hardest part of their jobs. Changing over to HTML is a major undertaking and I did not expect Rob to address the support request I sent just this morning so quickly!

I will try to be patient, but as my Chromebook updated lastnight, I no longer have any "Flash" option anywhere in any of my settings to check it to allow. According to everything I read it is supposed to work until Dec 31st but it is gone already. So I guess I am done playing until you get it online for me. Please hurry.
Thanks, Sundos

No Taz, I didn't try that, but all I see reading is that Chrome is DONE with flash period. SO.. I remembered I could at one time play on gameroom ON MY DESKTOP with IE .. so I tried it and it is very slow but working. Now I think after I downloaded the new Edge and found setting to allow Flash.. game will only work through December I think but is working. I hope it works that long. GOOD LUCK to Devs getting our game working in the new whatever you have to do.

I have been using opera Beta version it now has blocked flash by browser update. Chrome beta version also blocked flash by browser update (what I mean is there is no flash compatibility written into the browsers on update) when you click the lock there is no longer flash allow/block option so the HTML5 version is needed ASAP

Hi Stu,
The only thing we can say is do not upgrade any browser during this month. If you can go back to the previous version. I would definately not use any beta versions at this time.
The developers are working on the conversion as fast as they can.

Need an answer as to when HTML is going to be available. I was able to get into mine by going to Microsoft edge but nieces cannot. I'm not using chromebook just a regular pc. From what I've read from others, chrome has already messed things up. Need help please; realize your hands are tied until you get the other thing up and running but that means a lot of us don't get to play until then; may end up losing folks who have put a lot of money into this game.

Hi Texans,
No that does not mean it won't be on Facebook. It means some functions will not available when it is first released. They will then work on those to get them back for us.

Queen.of.Clutter

This is what the Flash Player thread states:

"At this point, we are expecting to release the HTML5 version of the game by the end of the year, however, it will be a restricted version, it should include at least all farming tools and main facility functionality, hopefully more than that but it's difficult to know at this point exactly which functionality will be included. However, we think we have cleared the major hurdles already and we are moving fast, we should have the bulk of the functionality of the game migrated and tested in 1 or 2 months after the first version."

I bought Farm Cash this past release, I don't think I will be buying any more until we are fully functional. I hope it goes smoothly for the developers !

Hi TMCcarl,
You should not lose anything in the migration. It is only the app being migrated and will still use all the stored data on the servers.

Thanks! I appreciate everyone's hard work on the game and forums. It takes some serious effort and time to be a developer, but its also hard work to be a moderator/active writer of tutorials and answering questions for the community. Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you all get a well-deserved break :D

This came up today, with info I've not seen before. 12th Jan deadine :

Adobe Flash Player EOL General Information Page

Since Adobe will no longer be supporting Flash Player after 31 December 2020 and Adobe will block Flash content from running in Flash Player beginning 12 January 2021, Adobe strongly recommends all users immediately uninstall Flash Player to help protect their systems.

Some users may continue to see reminders from Adobe to uninstall Flash Player from their system. See below for more details on how to uninstall Flash Player.

My point is that that gives the false impression that we only have 6 months left to play the game. I never use gameroom and don't care if it goes away. Just don't take Farm Town away cuz I really, really want to level up to the Pancake House restaurant!

As that is an announcement by Facebook we have no control over what they announce. The developers are working hard to get Farm Town converted over so we can all keep playing.

I can't find where the developers have said anything since November 30th. Of course rumor and speculation will happen when players are left hanging. I believe the first post of this thread mentioned posting updates as things develop. I take that as there are no new developments, which IS cause for concern. You may kindly direct me to the proper post if there has been any further updates from the developers.

The developers are woking hard and I'm sure they will post the new updates for all things they have done up now as soon as possible.

My point is that NO updates in 3 weeks definitely leads to speculation. I am glad you are confident. Many of us are not because it would take a developer 5 minutes to update everyone. I love Farm Town and I have honestly been worried over the past year because other games and sites started their conversions as long as 3 years ago and all have completed several months ago or long ago announced they were folding up. Putting off a complicated undertaking until the last minute was not good judgement, yet we are supposed to have confidence in the developers. I will keep my fingers crossed they pull it off, even if they have had to make a lot of changes. Thanks!

Hi Bandida Nina,
If they stop to provide updates for every little thing they get completed then that will slow them down on getting more done. The developers did start the conversion when it was announced last year that Flash would end. They did not put it off to the last minute. Farm Town is a much more complicated program than many of those other games.

I assure you that the developers will update you before they release with what is working and what they are still working on after the restricted release is done.

Please be patient as they are working hard to get as much working as they can before the "deadline". Testing is ongoing as they continue to work on it.

As a software developer myself, I can ASSURE you this is true. It may sound like a 5-minute task but it's not. For one thing, you have to get yourself in a totally different mindframe - break your concentration - come at it from a different direction. Then you have to figure out what to say. Because working on something and describing it are two different things. Then once you've done your post, you have to get yourself BACK in your programmer mindset. It's not as easy as it sounds. That's what the mods are doing an excellent job of - sort of being a touchstone for us. I'm nervous, too. Based on what Raul has said, some things WILL be different - or at least in the initial rollout. But Raul has ALWAYS come through for us. He's a great game developer, IMHO. Keeps working at it until its awesome. I don't expect it to be perfect when it first launches. This is a HUGE deal so yes - I imagine there WILL be issues. But what I DO anticipate is that over time, everything will get smoothed out. That's what has always made Raul so awesome - he keeps working on a thing until it's good. He comes back to stuff and fixes it. None of us wanted to have to change - but we didn't have a choice. So I'm just planning to hang in there and wait and see.

But yes - it's all a bit nerve-wracking! I get it. :)

Sorry, I disagree. Regardless of what Taz said, the announcement was made in July of 2017 and other games started conversion soon after. This was not a "last year" thing. I also disagree with the notion they cannot update. My son is a developer and he agrees with me stating it is expected for them to provide updates regularly to necessary people and such reports can be easily translated to a quick brief for "the public". I am not having an issue with any possible scenarios, even no Farm Town at all. I just pointed out that silence leads to speculation and rumor. THAT was my only point. And yes, waiting to start conversion was bad judgement. This should be a forum for honest, civil discussion but people voicing concerns have not had their concerns validated. This is disposable entertainment expense for me and I play other games, so will not go into withdrawal, but it is all a couple of my neighbors have. They have no family nearby, are older and are stuck at home and this is their main social outlet.

What other games do you play? On FB the only game I know of is FT no other game is like this.

But they did begin in July 2017. If you look at this post (http://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=641970), dated July 28, 2017, you will see that they had begun working on the conversion then.

Yes, they also said they had been working on it in an update October 30, but it was very clear from their own statements that priority was given to continually expanding features in the current game over conversion. Some were to be given the new version the end of November. Other games made it a priority and have been done for some time. Now they have even more features to convert rather than getting the conversion done then doing expansions. I support the developers with my money. I don't personally have an issue with any of this other than my original point on how some who ARE worried have been responded to. I am not emotionally vested in Farm Town. It is just pixels. As I have already stated, before taking someone to task about "rumor and speculation" perhaps offering something solid would be the wiser choice. My original point. Period. Hopefully, Happy Farming in the New Year!

I agree with you. I do not expect an update on every little thing they do but once a week isn't too much to ask for. A quick we are still on schedule for the end of the year only takes a couple of minutes. I know there are people there they aren't doing the coding that could log on and give the update so this "it would slow them down and they wouldn't get anything done" is crazy. They have to give updates to their bosses which could be given to us in a simple message. I can''t believe that we are a week away from the end date and not one word has been said all month. I fully expect farm town not to be working in a week or we will be back to the early days of the game with no time table of when it will be fixed. They may have started 3 years ago but it sounds like they didn't get their act together until this year which has hurt them in getting everything moved over.

I agree with you as well. Just an occasional update would be nice. The silence leads one to speculate the worse. Saying that they can't take away from their work to give a short update is almost comical. I came to the forum just wanting to see if there was any updates as to the progress of the conversion. And as usual... there wasn't. It is obvious that the developers underestimated the task of converting the game. And to try and say that they only had notice last year is ridiculous as well as untrue. They had notice 3 years ago. Obviously they choose to continue updates rather than work on the conversion. Apparently they realized their mistake a few months ago in regards to it being more complex that they first thought. But even then the new updates continued coming out rather than converting what was already there. The problem here seems to be an old problem... just follow the money. I hope that next week we do still have a playable game. But this silence from the developers sure makes one wonder.

Patience my FT friends. The developers are hard at work, getting the game ready to be updated. For US this is JUST a game, for them it is work which I am certain they want to continue. It is a complex game, therefore requires a lot more effort than simpler games. Give the moderators less repetitive questions, and argument. Farm Town will continue, and bugs will be fixed.
