The order of priority is multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

The mnemonic is, "My Dear Aunt Sally."

You don't divide first, you multiply.

8 ÷ 2 x 2 ÷ 2 =

8 ÷ (2 x 2) ÷ 2 =

8 ÷ 4 ÷ 2 =

1
