Can I hire a farmer to work my farms?
Yes, in Farm Town along with farm work, there are several types of hiring that can be done.

You can hire anyone you see online in the game from most areas, your farms, another farmer farms, Job Marketplace and other areas of the game BUT there are benefits for hiring a stranger and for a farmer hired by a stranger when it comes to farm work.

A stranger is a farmer who does not have a connection to you as a Neighbour or as a Buddy.

A lot of farmers will go to the at the Job Marketplace when looking for work and when looking for workers to hire.

You must be online in the game to be able to see any farmers.

If you have been offline in the game for quite a while it is better to reload the game before hiring.

Hire for Farm Work: Common hiring options for workable items on your farms are:

Hire Multiple - use this option when you are hiring for more than one type of job.
For example: If you or your worker owns a combine and you want them to both harvest your crops and plow your fields using a combine, always us this option and make sure you select both Harvest Crops AND Hire to Plow in the job options you see. You could hire a farmer for all types or some types of jobs.

Hire to Harvest Trees - to only harvest your trees, does not include chopping trees.

Hire to Harvest Flowers - to only harvest your flowers.

Hire to Harvest Crops - If you only want your crops harvested and not do want your fields plowed by the same farmer after the crops have been harvested.

Hire to Plow - to only plow fields that have been Harvested or crops that have gone to waste.

Hire to Fish - to only have waters fished.

Hire to Chop - to only chop trees that can be chopped.

There is a time limit on how long a regular hire will last for. The hire will be disabled once 8 hours has passed since you hired them.

You can also:

Post Requests for Farming friends to Work your Facilities. Facilities can be worked by those that have a connection to you as a Neighbour or Buddy when you post a request to work your facilities.
You only need to Post one Request for Regular Facilities (Produce Faster). All your regular facilities can be worked from one request.

You only need to Post one Request for Service Facilities (Refer Clients). All your service facilities can be worked from one request.

There must be products in your facilities to be able to work them.

Some farmers have a lot of neighbours and buddies posting requests so they may only see requests that go back less than 8 hours ago. Those with far less farming friends can see much further back in time. You may want consider posting your Facility requests again later in the day especially if you like to refill them.

Super Neighbour Hire (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=662786)
You could set a Neighbour as a Super Neighbour and give them specific Hire permissions to do things like work your farms, perhaps help decorate a specific farm, perhaps manage your trains, without you needing to be online or present on any farm.

Super Neighbours are intended to be used for short periods like while you are away on vacation.

There is a limit on how many Super Neighbours you could have at any one time.

Please make sure that you are clear with any Super Neighbors on what it is you would like them to do if you want something specific done rather than everything.

Super Neighbours do NOT earn a bonus chest.

Hire to help decorate your farms. There are 2 types of hiring for this.
Both can only allow one farm at a time to be designed by another farmer.
Design this farm together (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5839438#post5839438) requires the farm owner to be present on the same farm.
Permanently Hired for Design (https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6548358#post6548358) - for a Super Neighbour. Does not require the farm owner to be present on the farm.

How do I go to the Marketplace?
You must be online in the game in either of the Markets when you want to hire, get hired or trade with farmers so that you can see other farmers and they can see you.

If you are not online in the game, instead of a green online icon (indicated in the picture below with an arrow) you will see a red version of the icon instead. If that icon is red you can click on it to turn it back to green and then you will be online OR you can just reload the game.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ONLINE.png

If you have been offline for quite some time it is better to reload the game before going to market.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/map icon.PNG Clicking on the MAP icon that is located bottom right of your game bar will show you several options.

Each of those options can be clicked on.

Some will take you to a different location, some will open a new window for specific features.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/MAP OPTIONS.png
Job Marketplace is mainly for hiring and getting hired for farm work.
Trade Marketplace is mainly for selling and trading.
The Inn is just an area where farmers can meet up and chat.
The Bank opens up the Farm Cash Store where you can buy Farm Cash.
The Realtors is where you go when you want to upgrade on of your farms or to buy a new farm. When upgrading a farm make sure that you are on the farm you want to upgrade BEFORE you go to the Realtors.
The Fuel Station when clicked on automatically opens and calculates the amount of Fuel tanks you can refuel with at that time.

How to Hire Farmers to work your farms is in the next post down.

Selling Harvests and Gifts is explained in

Hiring Farmers to Harvest Crops, Trees, Flowers, Fish and Chop your Trees.

Hiring is mainly done from the Job Marketplace where most farmers will go when looking for work.

The Trade Marketplace is mainly used for selling and trading where farmers do not want to be hired to work while they do that. Although you can hire farmers from other areas of the game, there are additional benefits for hiring strangers from the marketplace which will be explained later.

There are several ways to hire a farmer, we are showing you some common methods:

Go to the Job Marketplace.
Click on the MAP Icon bottom right of your game bar.
Then click on the Job Marketplace to go to that Marketplace.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/MAP JMP ARROWS.png

Farmers that want work at the Job Marketplace can change the background colour of their Avatar name to red. This indicates that they want to be hired. A visual aid to help you know which farmers want work.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ARCHIE RED.png

Farmers with only a pink background colour on their Avatar name can NOT be hired at that time. They are also trying to hire a farmer.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ARCHIE PINK.png

There are other colours which have different meanings. They can also use more than one colour.

OPTION 1: If a farmer is chatting in the Chat window and they are still in that area, you can click on their Avatar name in the Chat window which will open their Avatar menu that you can use to hire them.
Example:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/CHAT WINDOW SEP 2022.png

The different coloured names help you identify which farmer is speaking as there can be more than one farmer with the same avatar name.

OPTION 2: Click on the Avatar of the farmer you want to hire.

There will be a yellow outline when you mouseover a farmer which help you know which farmer you are going to click on if there are many farmers at market.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/HIGHLIGHT ARCHIE.png

Clicking on the farmers Avatar opens their Avatar menu which you can use to hire them.

Whichever method you use to hire a farmer. You will then see the Avatar menu.

The first thing to check in the Avatar menu is if that farmer is your Neighbour or Buddy.

If they have a connection to you as a Neighbour or Buddy, you will see a blue or green label under the Avatar name telling you what that relationship is.

To earn an extra box for hiring a farmer, or for the farmer you are hiring to earn the bonus chest, you do not want to hire a farmer that has a connection to you as a neighbour or buddy.

Examples:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/AVATAR CONNECTIONS JULY 2024.png

On the left Archie has no connection to the Farmer. The farmer hiring him would earn an extra box when Archie completes the jobs. Archie will earn a bonus chest when they complete the work on each farm.

In the middle Archie is a Buddy to the Farmer. No extra box or bonus chest will be earned for hiring Archie.

On the right Archie is a Neighbour to the Farmer. No extra box or bonus chest will be earned for hiring Archie.

Benefits of hiring Strangers and working for strangers are explained later.

When you click on a hire option, another menu will appear depending on which option you clicked.

Hire Multiple - Hire the farmer for more than 1 type of job opens a Hire Multiple window so you can select more than one type of job. For example harvest crops, plow your fields or more.

Click on box to Add a check mark in the box for each job that you want them to do.

All will add check marks to all hiring options.
None will remove the check marks for all options.

The grey or yellow tickets to the right of some of the options in the picture are to do with the Farm Pass (https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=658742) Feature.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/HIRE MULTIPLE JULY 2024.png

Remember to set your preferences for whether or not you will allow the hired farmer to use your Tools and or Fuel.

The options are in the Hire Multiple window below the All and None blue buttons.

Let Employee use my tools - the default setting is to allow the use of your tools. Remove the check mark if you do not want your tools to be used and it will remain deselected for that session ONLY. If you reload the game the check mark will be added again.

Use of your Fuel - Click the drop down arrow to view the options then click on the option you want.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/Fuel options.png

If you do not allow the use of your fuel and the worker has none or runs out of their own to use they will not be able to complete the jobs you hired them for using the bigger tools. The only tools that do not require Fuel are the x1 and x2 tools.

To continue and hire the farmer, click on the green check mark at the bottom of the Hire Multiple window.
To cancel the request if you change your mind click on the red "X" to cancel the hiring process.

The single hire options like these, when clicked on, will not show you the Hire Multiple window, instead they will open a the Select Your Farms window showing your farms so you can select which farms you want them to work:

Hire to Harvest Trees - only hires them to harvest your trees.
Hire to Harvest Flowers - only hires them to harvest your flowers.
Hire to Harvest Crops - only hires them to harvest your crops.
Hire to Plow - only hires them to plow your fields.
Hire to Fish - only hires them to fish your waters.
Hire to Chop - only hires them to chop your trees

Farm Selection: is where you select which farms you want the farmer to work.

You will see the Select Your Farms window:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/HIRE SELECT FARMS JULY 2024.png

Any farms greyed out are your private farms. You can not hire anyone to work a private farm. In the example, the farm called Blossom Way is greyed out.
The green tint around a farm name indicates which of your farms you were on last.

Bottom left of the Farm Selection screen is another way for you to set your preferences for the use of your tools and fuel. In this example the farm owner has allowed their Fuel to be used first and the use of their tools that they own. Make sure that you also check the the Tools and Fuel options are correct for what you want to allow.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/CHECK ADDED.png Click on a check box beside a farms name to Add a check mark for each farm you want the farmer you are hiring to work. To remove a check mark just click on the box again to remove it.

To send the Hire Request, click on the green check mark at the bottom of the window.
Clicking the red X instead of the green check cancels the request.

If you are not sure which of your farms have work on:

There is another option that you can use at the bottom right of the Select your Farms window called Show Work Info instead of hiring for all farms which can waste a farmers time making them visit every farm when there is no work on them.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW WORK INFO BLUE BUTTON DEC 2024.png

Click on Show Work Info to see a window with all your farms, how many items are ready to work and the size of the farm.
Example:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/HIRE SWI JUL 2024.png

This window will show you different colors representing each of the types of farm work you chose to hire the farmer for. In the above picture the farmer has selected all types of jobs so there are many different colors representing each type of job.

You can change this window to show a specific job if you wish, by clicking on each of the colored initials in the Legend top left of the window.

The legend buttons at the top left will only consider the work types your are trying to hire for.

Example, if you didn't select fish as a work type for your worker, when you click the blue F for fishing, no farms will be colored blue even if you waters were ready to fish because you did not select that type of work for the famer to do inn the hire.

Clicking the different buttons in the legend will not alter the status of the farm checkboxes.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SWI legend.png

The key for this legend is as follows:

FP - Fields to Plow (brown background)
SP - Seeds to be Planted (yellow background) only you and your super neighbours can plant your fields.
CH - Crops to Harvest (green background)
FH - Flowers to be Harvested (orange background)
TH - Trees to Harvest (red background)
TC - Trees to Chop (gray background)
F - Fishing (blue background)
All - All jobs (pink background)

When you have finished using the Show Work Info screen, to go back to showing the Farm Names click on Show Names and it will change to show the names of your farms.

Show User Info bottom right of the window can be clicked on to see if anyone is working on one of your farms and which ones. You may want to use this if you already hired someone to work for you, you are not sure which farm they are on, and want to hire the next farmer for different farms.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW USER INFO BLUE BUTTON DEC 2024.png

You will then see more icons at the top right of the window:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW USER INFO CONNECTIONS AND MESSAGE ENVELOPE.png

The four circles tell you what the different circles on a farm mean:

BLUE - Employee Working, Connected.

PALE BLUE - Employee Working, Disconnected.

ORANGE - Employee Idle, Connected.

GRAY - Non-Employee, Connected.

Connected means they are Online in the game, Disconnected means they are offline in the game.

The message envelope allows you to send a message to a farmer that is on your farm. If you were to click on the message envelope and there are no farmers on your farms you will see a message "No employees or visitors found".

How to use the message envelope in this window to send a message to a farmer is explained in more detail in the next post (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6597698#post6597698) down.

After you have sent the Hire Request:

The farmer you hired receives the hire offer, it tells them how many farms you have hired them for, which jobs and if you have allowed your tools and fuel. If you have allowed the use of your tools they will also be able to see what the biggest size tools you own are in the hire request.

Only one hire offer can be viewed by a farmer at a time.

They have 30 seconds to accept or decline the offer.
The avatar name label background color for the farmer you are trying to hire will change to Orange.
If the player rejects the request or if the request expires after 30 seconds, the color will change to Yellow and a denied confirmation will be sent back to the sender.
The nameplate colours can help to avoid sending several hire requests to the same farmers and to know which ones you have already asked that did not accept.

Examples:

http://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ARCHIE STATUS ORANGE YELLOW.png

Hire confirmation:

When the farmer you sent the hire request to, either accepts or declines your offer, you will get a hire confirmation.

The pictures below show the 2 possible confirmations that you could receive, the one on the left accepts the work offer and the one on the right would have declined the work offer.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/HIRE ACCEPTED DECLINED JULY 2024.png

If they accepted the work offer, the options in the message can be clicked om to do one of two things.

Clicking on Great, thanks. I'll go with you. takes you to the first farm that they will be working for you.

Or clicking on Great, thanks. I have a few errands to run. I will be there shortly. will close the message so you can stay where you if you wanted to look for work yourself or go somewhere else like a different one of your farms, a different area of the game, the other marketplace to buy/sell trade for example.

If the farmer you sent the hire request to has already left the marketplace when you send the hire request, you will see a message informing you:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARMER LEFT.png

The Hire Request will not be sent.
Clicking on the green check mark closes the message, then you can choose another farmer to hire.

If the farmer you intended to hire changed their avatar status to only wanting to hire (pink) while you were selecting your hire options you will see different message informing you:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/BUSY HIRING.png

Click on the No Problem in that message to close it, the request will not be sent, then chose another farmer to hire.

Example of the message you see if you try to hire a farmer with only the pink background colour on their Avatar name:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARMER PINK.png

After you have hired a farmer, If you have at least 4 farms, it is also possible to send a hired worker that is still on your farms a message. We explain how to do this in the next post down, titled Sending a message to a worker after hiring.

Important Reminder:

If you want to earn the extra reward for hiring a stranger OR your worker wants to earn the Bonus Chest for working for a stranger you do not want to hire or be hired by a Neighbour or Buddy.

If you have a connection as a Neighbour or Buddy to the farmer that you hire, that will be indicated top right of the hire message like these examples:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/tools/HIRE MESSAGE NEIGHBOUR BUDDY EXAMPLES.png

Sending a message to a worker after hiring.
To be able to send a message to a worker that is on one of your farms you will need to have at least 4 farms so you can use Show Work Info and then Show User Info.

When on your own farms you can click on the Farm Grid top LEFT of your farm, then click on SHOW NAMES

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW NAMES ON FARM GRID ARROW.png

When the Go to Farm window opens, bottom right of that window click on Show User Info

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW USER INFO GO TO FARMS ARROW SMALL.png

When at market or on someone else's farms, you can also access your the Show Work Info for YOUR farms by clicking on the Home icon bottom right of your screen to see your farm grid.
Then click on SHOW FARMS

This picture is from the Job Marketplace, when you are on another farmers farms there are no extra round buttons above the home icon.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW NAMES VIA HOME ICON.png

When the Go to Farm window opens, bottom right of that window click on Show User Info

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW USER INFO GO TO FARMS ARROW SMALL.png

Example of Workers and Visitors:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/WORKERS AND VISITORS EXAMPLE.png

Blue dot is an Employee on farm 4 who is working and connected (online).

Pale Blue dot is a Employee on farm 7 who is working but disconnected (offline).

Orange dot. There is a Employee on farm 15 connected but is Idle. They may have only just arrived so have not started working yet.

Gray dot is a Non-Employee on farm 21 connected (online). They are visiting.

There is an envelope top right of the Go To Farms window you can click on to send a message.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/GO TO FARM ENVELOPE ARROW DEC 2024.png

If there are no farmers on your farms when you click on that envelope you will see a Brief notification that tells you that:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/NO EMPLOYEES OR VISITORS FOUND.png

To SEE where farmers are on your farms:

Click on the Envelope top right of that window and you will then see the Employee and Visitors window which has 3 sections.

Employees Working or Connected, Employees Done Working and Non-Employees.

There will be a red number on each section that has an employee or a visitor on your farm.

To view Employees Working or Connected, if the background of the name is brown click on it to change it to orange to view that section.

This example shows Angel is Idle and is not a Neighbour or Buddy to the farmer as both of the blue and green silhouettes are NOT dimmed out.

They have been hired but have only just arrived on a farm so they have not started working yet.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEE CONNECTED IDLE NO CONNECTION.png

As they start working and move farm to farm the orange circle changes to blue if they are still online and the name of the farm they are on changes as they go to different farms

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEE CONNECTED WORKING NO CONNECTION.png

A dimmed blue or green silhouette means that they ARE your Neighbour or Buddy.

If BOTH blue or green silhouettes are not dimmed then they are not on your Neighbour or Buddy list.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW USER INFO NO CONNECTION TO WORKERS.png

If you want to send them a Neighbour request you can click on the Blue one to send it to them.
If you want to send them a Buddy request you can click on the Green one to send a Request to them.

To view Employees Done Working, if the background of the name is brown click on it to change it to orange to view that section.

This example shows Angel has finished working and is not a Neighbour or Buddy to the farmer as both of the blue and green silhouettes are NOT dimmed out.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS STRANGER DONE WORKING.png

To view Non-Employees, if the background of the name is brown click on it to change it to orange to view that section.

This example shows DUDZ on farm 21 and is a Neighbour but not a Buddy. The blue silhouette is dimmed the green silhouettes is NOT dimmed out.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS NON EMPLOYEE NEIGHBOUR.png

----------------------------------------------------------------

To send a farmer a message to their Inbox:

Click on the envelope to the far right of the workers name and a message box will open that you can type in using your keyboard.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ANGEL SEND IN GAME MESSAGE.png

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS WORKING OR CONNECTED SEND ANGEL IN GAME MESSAGE.png

When you have finished typing your message, click on the green Send button to send it, or click on the red X to cancel.

They will be able to see it in their in game messages, the envelope at the top of the game screen.

----------------------------------------------------------------

How to know when a message is from an Employer or Employee:

There are Red and Pink Indicators when an Employer or an Employee sends a message.
IF these indicators do not show up immediately OR the message envelope in the at the top of your game screen has not changed colour it is can be due to one or both of your being offline or being idle in game or your worker has already left or too much time has passed since the message was originally sent.

You could also see these indicators for unread employer/employee messages if you reloaded the game not long after the messages were sent.

The Red and Pink Indicators are removed when you have been inactive in the game for around 3 hours.

PLEASE NOTE that the number counter on the envelope still ONLY reflects the amount of unread messages that you have. You could also have messages from other farmers, your Employer or your Employee.

Super Neighbours connections also count as Employees/Employers when permissions granted for permanent hire.

Messages and notifications from an Employee are Red:

If you are both of you are online in the game and actively working OR your worker is online and still on your farm at the time the message is sent, you will see a Red message envelope and a Red notification on the game screen when your Employee sends you an in game message.

Example of the Red indicators:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEE MESSAGE BOTH ONLINE RED ENVELOPE AND NOTIFICATION.png

When you open an Employees message, you will see an indicator << employee >> and the text in their message is also red. Examples:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/INBOX MESSAGE FROM EMPLOYEE ANGEL.png

Messages and notifications from your Employer are Pink:

If you are both of you are online in the game and you as the employee, are still on their farm you will see a Pink message envelope and a Pink notification on the game screen when your Employer sends you an in game message.

Examples of the Pink indicators:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYER MESSAGE BOTH ONLINE PINK ENVELOPE AND NOTIFICATION.png

When you open an Employers message, you will an indicator << employer >> and the text in their message will also be pink. Examples:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/INBOX MESSAGE FROM EMPLOYER TIGER 27 DEC 2024.png

----------------------------------------------------------------

To send a farmer an online Private Chat message:

The Private Chat icon icon will only show up IF you and the farmer are on the same farm and are both online long enough for you both to see the message in the chat box in your game bar. It allows you to send a private message in the chat box at the bottom of the game screen.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ANGEL SEND PRIVATE CHAT ONLINE.png

Clicking on the Private Chat Icon shows you a small message box that you can type in with your keyboard. When you have finished typing your message click on the green Send button to send it to the chat window at the bottom of your game screen.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EMPLOYEES AND VISITORS WORKING OR CONNECTED TIGER SEND ANGEL PRIVATE CHAT.png

When the employer sends a live chat message the worker will see a brief notification on the screen that is pink, the message above their Avatar AND also in the chat window at the bottom of the game screen.

The message shows as Private, the notification text is pink and has an indicator << employer >>

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/PRIVATE CHAT ANGEL AVATAR AND NOTIFICATION.png

When the worker sends a live chat message to the employer, they may not use Private chat to reply so in this case the message will not have Private at the front of it the message.

You will see a similar thing but in this case the indicator << employee >>

In this example their message is not sent using Private Chat but the text and notification is red:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ANGEL RECIEVE CHAT AND NOTIFICATION.png

What are the benefits of hiring somebody to work at your farm?

Hiring others can also benefit those trying to level up, needing more products from farms when they don't have enough themselves, needing coins to expand or buy new farms, can help with farm pass goals and the regular quest employee lifeline.

Doing your Farm Work yourself:

You will have to use your own tools and Fuel.

Plowing costs you 20C per plot. Not the cheapest, but still cheap.

Harvesting crops, trees, flowers and chopping trees - You will get regular size, less value if selling.

Fishing - You will get regular size less value if selling, double fish if you also have bait, one bait per fish.

No reward for hiring a stranger.

Less jobs at Marketplace for those needing work.

Hiring Neighbours, Buddies, Super Neighbours to do your farm work:

Options to allow or not allow use of Tools and Fuel. This can be useful if you don't have big tools or a lot of fuel and your worker does have them and is willing to use theirs.

Plowing cost you 10c per plot - the cheapest cost.

Harvesting crops, trees, flowers, chopping trees - You will get large boxes per item instead of regular boxes.
Large boxes sell for more coins at market.

Fishing - You will get large boxes per item instead of regular boxes.
Large boxes sell for more coins at market.
Double fish if you also have bait, one bait per fish.

No extra reward for you, for hiring a stranger.

No Bonus Chest for your worker with extra rewards either.

Less jobs at Marketplace for those needing work.

Hiring a Stranger at the Job Marketplace to do your farm work:

Options to allow or not allow use of Tools and Fuel. This can be useful if you don't have big tools or a lot of fuel and your worker does have them and is willing to use theirs.

Plowing cost you 15c per plot - less than doing it yourself but not the cheapest.

Harvesting crops, trees, flowers and chopping trees - You will get large boxes per item for hiring, PLUS an extra regular box per item for hiring a stranger.
You get more boxes to use in your facilities or to sell for profit.
It does not matter when it comes to facilities which size box is used.
When selling if you don't want to sell all you could chose one size box to sell instead.

Fishing - You will get large boxes per item for hiring, PLUS an extra regular box per item for hiring a stranger.
You get more boxes to use in your facilities or to sell for profit.
It does not matter when it comes to facilities which size box is used.
When selling if you don't want to sell all you could chose one size box to sell instead.
Double fish if you also have bait, one bait per fish.

Benefits for your Workers as Strangers can claim a Bonus Chest as a reward for completing farm work.
Their extra reward for being hired by a stranger can contain extra products XP (experience points) and coins. This reward does not come from any of your farms or storage.
Workers that value the bonus chest reward are likely to complete all of the work on every farm to be able to claim it.

More jobs at Marketplace for those needing work.

If you are participating in the Farm Pass Feature you could get goals which require you to be hired by a stranger at the marketplace.

If you are short on farm space or farms, hiring a stranger has far more benefits for you.

What do I earn for working farms for another farmer?

When you are hired to work on another farmers farm(s) you will get the following:

Crops: 25% of the selling price of the crop that you are harvesting PLUS 10% of the crop that you are harvesting.
NOTE: When you have the Employee Lifeline for a Regular Quest this means that when you work for other farmers you would need to harvest 10 of a crop for every 1 you need for your Quest.

Example 10 x Wheat are needed to make 1 flour. You would need to harvest 100 wheat when hired to complete the Wheat step in your Quest.

Trees, flowers and fishing: 100% of the selling price of the trees, flowers and fish PLUS 50% of what you harvest, chop or fish.

Plowing: When you plow on another farmers farms you earn 5 coins per plot AND 1 XP for each plot you plow.
If you are only hired to plow, the plots must be harvested or the crops must be wasted.
To be able to use a combine you would need to be hired to do both Harvesting Crops AND Plowing and you will need Fuel.
NOTE: To plow NEW plots, instead of plowing existing plots you would need design permissions for that farm and permission to use their coins as plowing new plots always costs the farm owner some coins.

Planting: You will only have the ability to plant for someone else when you are a Super Neighbour (https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6548342#post6548342) for a neighbour AND you have permission to plant for them.
In this case you earn 2XP per plot planted.
The cost of the Seeds you plant come from the farm owners coins.
If your Super Neighbour permissions allow you to harvest crops, plow and plant, and you use a Harvest-Plant Combine, you earn 3 XP per plot.
1 XP is for the plowing part, 2 XP is for the planting part.
You will also need Fuel.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/BONUS CHEST.png Bonus Chest: When you are hired by a stranger from the market place, you can earn a bonus from the Bonus Chest.

If you are hired by a farmer that has a connection to you as a Neighbour or Buddy you will not earn the Bonus Chest..

If you are participating in the Farm Pass feature you may need to be hired by a stranger depending on the type of goal you have to complete.

The work offer you receive will show either a blue indicator or a green indicator towards the top right of the request if a Neighbour or Buddy has hired you. When there is no indicator showing there is no connection and you are being offered work by a stranger.

The farmer that hires you will know if they are hiring one of their Neighbour or Buddies as they also see a similar indicator when clicking on an Avatar to hire.

Examples:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/WORK REQUEST FROM NEIGHBOUR BUDDY OCT 2024.png

When you are hired by a Stranger at the Job Marketplace the bonus chest will appear as you start working in the upper left corner of your game screen, just under where your coins, Farm Cash and Fuel amounts are located.

Example:
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/BONUS CHEST TOP LEFT OCT 2024.png

To be able to collect from the Bonus Chest you must complete ALL of the work on that farm that you was hired to do.
When you click on the Bonus Chest to claim your reward for finishing all the work on a farm, your rewards consists of the same amount of coins and boxes you got for doing the job. You can also earn XP for harvesting flowers, trees, chopping and fishing.

Example:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/BONUS CHEST REWARD OCT 2024.png

If you don't see anymore work and when you click on the Bonus Chest to claim it you see a message that there is more work to complete, you can try the following to see if there is something that is hidden or if something became ready to work while you were working:

Reload the current farm. In the Farm Selector Grid top left the farm you are on will have a yellow colour in the grid. Click on it to refresh that farm. Make sure that it is the current farm only, if you click on a different farm that will end the Bonus Chest on the farm you was working on.

Pick up a specific tool that the message says you have not completed yet. For example, the single harvest tool, the axe, the fishing rod, the single plow tool.
When you have picked up the tool check if you can see an EYE in the bottom right corner of the farm screen when you are using a tool, check if the EYE is red or black.
If it is Black click on the EYE to change it to red then everything not related to the the tool you are using at that time or is not ready to work with automatically be hidden for you.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EYE TOOLS CLOSED OCT 2020.PNG https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/EYE TOOLS OPEN OCT 2020.PNG

Some causes of this can be from putting too many items on a farm causing a corruption, refreshing a farm can show items you could not see if something was placed in the exact same spot as another by mistake.

If there is more than one farm you need to work instead of claiming the bonus chest before you leave the farm, you can also just go to the next farm to work without clicking the bonus chest to claim it. In this case the bonus chest reward will automatically show with the either the bonus in it or it will tell you if there is more work to be done in order to collect.

There is a pop up warning you that you have not collected it and asks you to confirm if you want to do that.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/JCB move to next farm.PNG

Remember: The Bonus Chest can only be claimed if you are hired by a stranger in the Marketplace.
If you are hired by a Neighbour or Buddy you will not get a Bonus Chest.

How to know if Tools and Fuel are allowed by the Farmer hiring you.

There are several different options for the farm owner allowing or not allowing the use of their tools and fuel. The information you need, is in the Hire offer that is sent to you.

To know if you're going to be able to use the employers tools and/or fuel you will need to read the information in the hire request:

Example 1: None of the Farm Owners Tools or Fuel are allowed.
Left picture below, there is no mention of use of tools or fuel being allowed. It only lists the types of jobs and how many farms. If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? you will see the picture on the right tells you their tools are out of service.

You will need to use your own Tools and Fuel for this job.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/NO TOOLS NO FUEL OCT 2024.png

Example 2: Farm Owners Tools are allowed but NOT the use of their Fuel.
Left picture below, red arrow indicates where you will see tools are allowed. If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? (left picture, red box) you would then see the picture on the Right, red box indicates where their their largest tools will be listed.

You can use their tools or your own tools, but you do not have use of their fuel.
You will be using your own fuel If you do not have much fuel you need to consider if you will be able to complete the work using your own. If you accept the work and run out of fuel, you will need to refuel or you will have to let the farm owner know so they can either allow the use of their fuel or if they can't, hire someone else who has some.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/TOOLS ONLY OCT 2024.png

Example 3: Farm Owners Tools allowed, Fuel allowed LAST.
Left picture below, red arrow indicates where you will see if Fuel is used LAST.
You do not see how much Fuel they have.
If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? (left picture, red box) you would then see the picture on the Right, red box indicates where their their largest tools will be listed.

You can use their tools or your own tools.
You will be using your fuel first until you run out then you will be using the farm owners fuel if they have any.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/YES TOOLS FUEL LAST OCT 2024.png

Example 4: Their Tools allowed AND you will be using their fuel FIRST.

You can use your tools or theirs and will be using their Fuel FIRST

Important additional information:
If the farm owner runs out of fuel during the work, you will then need to use your own Fuel to complete the job.
This is the only time you can see approximately how much fuel the farm owner has.
Pay attention to the amount of Fuel showing in the box!

A figure with an M after it indicates Millions.
A figure with a B after it indicates Billions which is a far greater quantity.

In the picture below the farm owner has allowed the use of their Tools and their Fuel FIRST.
They have over 464 Million Fuel.

If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? (left picture, red box) you would then see the picture on the Right, red box indicates where their their largest tools will be listed. This farmer does not have all the largest size tools but these are still very large.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/YES TOOLS FUEL FIRST 464M OCT 2024.png

In the picture below the farm owner has allowed the use of their Tools and their Fuel FIRST.
If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? you would then see their their largest tools in the next message that shows.

They have over 18 Billion Fuel.
Red box indicates where the Fuel amount is shown.
Billions of Fuel which is far greater than Millions of Fuel.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/YES TOOLS FUEL FIRST 18B OCT 2024.png

Important Information for the Bonus Chest and Farm Pass Goals:
If you want to earn the bonus chest OR you need to earn a Farm Pass Goal that requires getting hired at market, you do not want to be hired by a Neighbour or Buddy.

If you have a connection as a Neighbour or Buddy that will be indicated top right of the hire message like these examples:

What are the colours in the Farm Selector Grid for?

You can see some different colours in the Farm Selector Grid when visiting a farmer, when hired to work farms or when you are a Super Neighbour for a Neighbour.

When you are hired to work on someone else's farm(s) and then start working, the farm selector top left of your game screen will be the employers farm selector grid and the colors in each box will also change according to what which farms you can work, which farms have no work or are already worked, which farms are fertilized or not, which farm you are currently on.

Example of a farm selector gird, this farmer has 24 farms:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM GRID FARMS TO WORK.png

The numbers in each box are the farm position of each farm.
The arrows to the left and right can be used to go tot he next farm or previous farm.
You will only see SHOW NAMES if the farm owner has at least 4 farms.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM 1 WORKED NOT FERTILISED.png Farm 1 is not blue so is either already worked or you have not been hired to work it. It is a green colour as it is not Fertilised.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM 2 WORKED FERTILISED.png Farm 2 is also not blue so is either already worked or you have not been hired to work it. It is an olive green colour as it is Fertilised.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM 3 WORKED FERTILISED DESIGN.png Farm 3 has a red dot on it. You would only see a red dot if you have design permissions for that specific farm.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM 7 CURRENTLY ON.png The yellow on Farm 7 indicates which farm you are currently on. You can click on that yellow box to refresh the farm if you think there is more work that has not been completed without losing your Bonus Chest if you are hired by a stranger.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FARM 9 NOT WORKED.png Farm 9 is blue as it has not been worked yet. You can go to this farm to check for work to complete.

If you need a reminder on why Farm Names background colours can be different as well as the colour of the name, please CLICK HERE (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6302890#post6302890) to be taken to that post.

Can I return to finish a job hire?
Yes if you are able to return to the job within 10 minutes!

Yes, If are able to return within 10 minutes, when you reload the game, you will see a hiring message explaining that you didn't complete your last job offering you the option to return to your previous employer farms and continue working.

Example of the message:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/rework popup.PNG

If you click on the red X you will cancel the request and stay where you are.

If you click on the green check mark you will see another message with the hire details.

To return to the job click on Sure. I am heading back to your farm and you will be taken back to their farms to finish the work.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/rework hire.PNG

There are two hiring scenarios:

If you were hired by a stranger and can earn the bonus chest.
In this case if you click on the green check mark in the message you will return to the farm that you had not finished and will be able to continue working from there and then on to any more farms that needed doing and claim any bonus chest.

If you were hired by a farmer who is a Neighbour or Buddy.
In this case if you click on the green check mark, you will NOT return you to the farm that you were last working.
You will be able to continue working on any remaining farms that still have work to do. If you happen to remember which farm you last worked for the farmer and know there know there was work still left to do on it we suggest that you send a message to the farm owner to let them know what has happened.

Can other Famers work my Factories or Service Facilities?

Yes!A Farmer that has you on their Neighbour or Buddy List can help you complete products faster by working them.

Many farmers like to play often during a day or throughout the day, they can work your Facilities ONCE per day.
There is an exception to this rule and it will ONLY apply IF the farmer stops working ALL Farmers Facilities for at least 8 hours. We show an example of this later in this Chapter.

Before posting any requests for your facilities to be worked, you will need to make sure that there are products in them to be worked.
For Regular Facilities you Start batches to make products.
For Service facilities you Load batches which can be cashed out when completed, for extra profit.

Posting Work Requests is disabled in Non-workable, religious or funeral facilities.
The Funeral and Religious Facilities are:

Funeral Supplies Factory
Funeral Home
Buddhist Supplies Factory
Buddha Shop
Fortune Teller Supplies Factory
Fortune Teller Wagon

For the full list of Non-Workable Facilities go to Chapter 13: What are the Non-Workable Facilities? (https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6298338#post6298338)

Private Farms: If ALL of your workable facilities are on a Private farm, no-one will be able to go to that farm to work them.

If this is the case you will be shown a message like the one below, when you try to post a request:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FACS WORK REQUEST DISBALED PRIVATE FARM.png

To be able to post a work request you would need to remove the privacy setting on that farm if you only have facilities on that farm with work in them.

It is sometimes possible for the facilities on a Private farm to be worked IF you ALSO have work in facilities on your other farms.

IF the Famer working your Facilities:

- does not have a Fully Diversified Train that is dispatched, they will need to work the facilities on at least half the amount of farms with work in them before the mayor could take over and work the rest of the farms which can include the facilities on a Private farm.

- Has 1 Fully Diversified Train AND they can do at least half of the amount of farms with facilities with work in them. The Mayor will then take over and complete the remaining farms for them which could include the facilities on a Private farm. Their train must be correctly connected and dispatched.

- Has 2 Fully Diversified Trains to be able to work all facilities without going farm to farm and there is work on the farm that they arrive on, the facilities on the Private farm will also be worked. Both trains must be correctly connected and dispatched.

- CLICK HERE (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5270134#post5270134) if you need Information on what a Fully Diversified Train (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5270134#post5270134) is and how it can help you with working farmers facilities.

How often you post a Request to work your facilities is up to you to decide.
Some farmers with numerous Neighbours/Buddies that also post daily or several times a day can only see other farmers facility requests as far back as 8 hours ago or less.
Those with fewer Neighbours/Buddies posting are likely to see much further back in time.
Please remember that Farm Town has International and diverse players, not every farmer will be playing at the same time you are.

If you like to refill your facilities often within a short time, we do not recommend posting every time you refill as that can make farmers need to refresh the facility wall requests page far too often so that two things will update:
- older facility posts by the same farmer are removed
- to see the pink background on facility work requests that they have already worked.

When you have Posted your Facility Requests, they will be seen on the Facility Wall Requests (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/pending_in_wall) page to those who have you as their Neighbour or Buddy. You will NOT see your own posts there.

You can also post your facility work requests to Facebook. However you still need to abide by any current Facebook guidelines.
Posting or sharing any type of request to many areas of Facebook can still trigger the automatic spam detection and they can prevent you doing this.

Please remember that not all farmers will have Facebook accounts and you may not be Facebook friends with every Neighbour/Buddy you have on your lists in Farm Town.

When Farmers use the Facility Wall Requests (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/pending_in_wall) page, at the top there are 2 options that can be used.

Include posts from Farmers that have you as a Neighbour or Buddy but are not your Neighbours or Buddies. This is referred to as a one way connection meaning that you are not mutual Neighbours or Buddies.

Show posts only from the latest farmers who have worked my facilities.
Adding a check mark to an option selects that option and refreshes the page.

You ONLY need to post ONE Request to have ALL of your Regular Facilities worked.
Regular/Production Facilities make products. ALL of this type of facility can be worked on every farm using just one request as long as the products are not all completed and not all on a Private farm.

You ONLY need to post ONE Request to have All of your Service Facilities worked.
Service Facilities stock finished products that you have made in regular facilities and then stored. ALL of this type of facility can be worked on every farm using just one request as long as they are not all completed and not all on a Private farm.

You do not need to post a request for every facility that you own!

How to Post Regular or Service Facility Work Requests to Other Wall Requests are in the next 2 posts down.

How to Post Facility Work Requests to Facebook.
To be able to post to Facebook, you will need a Facebook account.
If you do not know how to Post a Regular Facility Work Request CLICK HERE (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6597726#post6597726) to go to that post.
If you do not know how to Post a Service Facility Work Request CLICK HERE (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6597730#post6597730) to go to that post.

Posting a Regular or Service Facility Work Request to Facebook is the same process. In this example so we are using a regular facility.

Cookies and popups must be allowed in your browser to be able to see the Facebook posting box.
Make sure that there is a green check mark showing up in the box to the left of where it says "Post to Facebook?"

Picture on the left is what you would see for Regular Facilities.
Picture on the right is what you would see for Service Facilities.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/ASK FRIENDS FOR HELP BOTH.png

When you click on the green check mark at the bottom of Do you want to ask your friends to help? message you will see a brief notification:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/REQUEST SENT SEP 2023.png

Your Facility Work Request is posted to the Facility Wall Request page.

Then you will see the 2nd message asking you to confirm if you want to Post request to Facebook

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/POST REQUEST TO FB.png

To continue with posting to Facebook, click on the green check mark.
If at this point you change your mind about posting to Facebook you can click on the red X to cancel. This ONLY cancels the posting to Facebook option. Your Facility Work Request will still have been posted to the Facility Wall Requests (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/pending_in_wall) page.

Clicking on the green check mark in the Post request to Facebook? message is what will generate the Facebook posting box.

What you see in the Facebook Create post box can vary depending on Facebook.

The Create Post box may not show a picture of the facility until it is posted to FB.
There may come a time when no facility pictures will be showing in the posts in the future.

Where the Facebook Create post box will show on your screen can vary depending on the browser you are using. You may need to minimize your browser to be able to see it.

You may need to expand the size of the Facebook Create post box to be able to see enough of it to be able to add a message and see the Share button to Post the Request, as this can vary with different browsers.

To expand the Create Post box if needed, move your mouse pointer to the bottom right corner of the box and you should see a double arrow appear.
When that double arrow shows up, stop moving your mouse and then hold the left button on your mouse down.
With the left button held down, drag your mouse down and to the side.
You should see the box expand.
When it is big enough, Release the left button to stop expanding the box.
(On a mac computer you may have crosshairs instead of arrows.)

OR If you want a full screen size version of the box and you can see a small square box at the top right of the posting box, you can click on that square icon to make the posting box much larger.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/BROWSER MAXIMISE WINDOW.png

Example of a Facebook posting box without a facility picture and no written description added:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FB CREATE POST POOL BAR.png

Your profile picture and Facebook name will be towards the top of the Create post box.

The example below shows the post is set to Public. If you are sharing your post to groups make sure that your post is set to Public on Facebook.
If it doesn't show set to Public the the Create A Post box, you can either change the setting by clicking on the option you see which could be set to a specific friends list or to Only Me to change it OR you can change the Publicity after posting by finding it on your profile and changing it there instead.
Where it says "What's on your mind....." is where you can click, then type to add any message or description.

When you are happy with your post, click on Share at the bottom of the window to share your post to Facebook.

If your posting box does not automatically close after you click on Share, you should be able to see an X at the top right of the posting box.
Click on that X once, to close the posting box.

Example of a Facility post after posting to Facebook which includes an added description:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/POOL BAR POSTED TO FB.png

You can not disable your facility posts from showing up on the Facility Wall Requests page.

Please remember that not every farmer will be able to see your posts on Facebook, they may not be your Facebook friends, they may not have a Facebook account.

What do I earn for Working Neighbour and Buddy Facilities?

When you work their facilities you complete 20% of what is showing as Pending at that time, which is also what the farm owner will get then...

For regular facilities both you and your friend will earn 3XP per product worked

For Service facilities both you your friend will earn 1XP per product your worked

As the Employee the mayor will give you 20% of those products that you worked as a way of saying thank you.

Example: if there were 1000 products pending for any one item, you would work 20% of those which is 200 and of those you then get 20% of that figure so you get 40 products - These products do not come from your facilities or your storage so it's a free way of saying thanks!

Facility Wall Requests

Facility Wall Requests are accessed via the My Requests tab at the top of your game screen.

Each section of the My Requests tab that you are viewing will always have black text and a pale yellow highlight.
The section you are not viewing will have blue text underlined which is a link you can click on to view a different section of My Requests.

Neighbours and Buddies Facility Work Requests
are in the Facility Wall Requests section of the My Requests tab at the top of your game screen.

Click on the My Requests tab at the top of the game screen.

The Facility Work Requests section is set as default so you should see the Facility Work Requests posted by your Neighbours and Buddies that still have work in them.

If you are in the wrong section of My Requests, the Facility Wall Requests text will be blue and underlined instead of black with a yellow highlight.
If you are seeing the section name in blue text underlined, click on it, then page will refresh so you can view Facility Work Requests.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/FACS WALL ARROWS.png

Check box options at the top of the Facility Wall Requests (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/pending_in_wall)

Include posts from Farmers that have you as a Neighbour or Buddy but are not your Neighbour or Buddy yet. With the check mark added you will Include seeing posts from farmers that are not on your own Neighbour or Buddy list.

Show posts only from the latest farmers who have worked my facilities. When the check mark is added you will ONLY see facility work requests for Neighbours and Buddies that have also helped work your facilities, this is the same farmers that you can see in the user action panel (yellow background) below your game screen. Reload the game when you want to update that information.

There is a new Do both at once work factories and refer clients link that could be clicked on to work both types of facility requests from the same farm owner.

You can only use this link to work both types of facilities IF you have 4 fully diversified trains that are dispatched. A Fully diversified train (https://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5270134#post5270134) is a locomotive with a minimum of 10 different Long Cars correctly attached AND dispatched. All of the Long Cars cost Farm Cash to buy.
If you buy trains, please make sure that you do not have 2 locomotives of the same speed on the same farm. You can have up to 15 working trains. 3 of each speed locomotive.

If you do not have the 4 train requirement OR you do not have all 4 correctly connected and dispatched, you will only see one instance of that link towards the top of Facility wall requests. You can use the Click here to help links instead, to work one type of facilities at a time instead of both types.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/WEB%20GUIDE/FACILITY WORK BOTH LINK.png

The maximum amount of posts in the Facility Wall Requests section has been increased from 150 to 200

You will not see multiple facility posts from the same farmer in the Facility Wall Requests section of My Requests. You will ONLY see the most recent Facility Requests by that farmer.
One for post for their regular/production facilities and one post for their service facilities as long as there is still work in them.

Older Facility Requests that they already posted earlier are automatically removed. This is so that you will see more Facility Requests from different farmers on that page and it still allows those that like to post them much more frequently than others do, to continue doing that.

If a farmers facilities are already empty, we will hide that post most of the time.

You can right click on the work request links to open them in a new tab and work the facilities in the tab that opens.
Then you don't have to keep going back to the Facility Work Request page to do more of them.
However it is up to you to determine how many you can do successfully without causing a problem with your computer or browser memory which could resulting in some facilities not being worked and the pink indicator on any work requests failing. Try 2 links, refresh the wall request page and see if those worked before you try 4 or more. Refresh wall requests to update the page.

Some farmers facilities can empty quickly, other farmers may refill them much more often so make sure you reload this page every now and then so it updates and so that the pink background shows on work requests that you have completed.

When you are done with working friends facilities always reload the game so your storage updates and any farm pass goals related to working facilities will also update in Farm Pass.

The My Requests tab has 3 sections but only 2 of them are currently being used.

My Requests (https://apps.slashkey.com/farmtown/pending/) This part of My Requests will just inform you about the My Request changes.

1. Accepting gifts is now only done inside the main game using the Gift Manager.

2. Boosting trains from farmers is now only done inside the main game using the Train Manager.

3. Accepting neighbour requests is now only done inside the main game using the Farmer Lists screen.

You will only see one farm expansion post per farmer, not all of them.
You will only see one new level reached post per farmer at a time.

Examples of what could be seen in Other Wall Requests:

You can right click on the Bonus and Ingredients links to open them in a new tab in your browser so that you do not have to keep going back to the Other Wall Requests to send more.
You will need to refresh the wall to see the pink background on them to know who you already sent one to. You can send ONE bonus and ONE ingredient to farmer in a 12 hour period.

You can also right click on the Visit Farm links and open them in a new tab in your browser if you want to visit that farmers farm.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/VISIT FARM OTHER WALL REQUESTS.png

Specific Gift Requests like these do not work if you right click to open them in a new browser tab. Instead you just click on the link.
If a farmer has requested 5 gifts, you can send all 5 IF all 5 are all showing up on the page when you look there.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/GIFT REQUESTS OTHER WALL REQUESTS.png

When you click on the link, it will then change to Gift Sent if you have not already sent them a gift.
If you have sent them a gift the link will change to Already Sent instead.

Reworking Farmers Facilities

When you start a new day you are still reworking facilites even if it was the previous evening.

This post is to help clarify the timers that you need to know about,
BEFORE you start working facilites the next day
OR when you want to work facilities twice a day.

Generally a considerable amount of farmers will play often and throught the day.
Farmers that prefer to do this would only be able to work your facilities ONCE a day.
Thier break from working facilities for others is mostly likely to be while sleeping overnight for at least 8 hours, so they are not playing at all during that time.

If you wanted to work facilites twice per day:

You need to have a MINIMUM 8 hour break from working ALL farmers facilities.
The 8 hour break means DO NOT work facilities at all for anyone, during that time!!!

It does not matter if you worked some facilities for some farmers but not all of them before taking that 8 hour break!!

Example of how to work facilites twice a day:

10 AM Exactly down to the second, you stop working ALL facilities for ALL farmers.

AFTER 6 PM you will be able to work ALL of your Neighbour an Buddies facilities, INCLUDING the ones you worked before 10 AM.

If you are only one second too early you will reset the timers and will NOT be able to rework facilites!!!

To help you know when you can Rework ALL farmers facilities there is a countdown timer that resets to 8 hours every single time you click on a work request to work ANYONES facilities.

Always reload your game before you want to rework facilities and check the Show Times information!

The Timers are listed in a tool called Show Times that is located in your Toolbox.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW TIMES TOOLBOX 2024.png

Click on your yellow toolbox to open it.

Look in the 2nd column from the left and click on the Show Times icon (looks like a clock) to open it.

There are 3 sections to Show Times.

Make sure the Gamewide section has an Orange background. If it is brown click on Gamewide and the background of that sections name will turn Orange to indicate that is the section you are viewing.
https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/SHOW TIMES GAMEWIDE SECTION.png

There is a timer for Regular Facilities. A green check mark here, means you can rework Regular Facilities.

There is another timer for Service Facilities. A green check mark here, means you can rework Service Facilities.

To be 100% sure that you can work ALL facilities the next day OR rework any facilities when working them twice a day, you need to see a green check mark for Rework Facilities AND for Rework Service Facilities.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/REWORK 2 GREEN CHECK MARKS.png

ONLY when you see the green check marks can you work or rework ALL types of facilities for any farmer that you have a connection in game with as a Neighbour or as a Buddy.

If there are no green check marks, the time showing next to each of those types of facilites will help you know how much longer you need to wait. You can mouseover the times to see more information. This example shows roughly another 5 hours to wait.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/REWORK 5 HOURS.png

The timers will be more accurate when the time left to wait is under 1 hour.
This example shows only part of a black circle so is less than one hour. In this case it's about 44 minutes. If you mouseover the icon it will show you the minutes.

Design this Farm Together

You can hire a farmer to help design a farm for a short time to do something like move some exisitng items on your farm using the Design this Farm Together Feature.

This temporarily hires a farmer that you can see online in the game as long as you are also going to be on that farm while they design or you both design at the same farm.

For example, you might want to use this if you need some help connecting your working trains or can't quite achieve the look you are going for on one of your farms with general items that are on them. Someone else could assist.

The farm you want help to design can NOT be Private. If you set it to Private you will need to remove that setting so that they can go to that farm.

Both of you need to remain online AND active on the farm while any designing is done. If you go offline or are idle too long, the hire session will end and changes will not be saved. You would need to rehire them if it was still needed.

Design this Farm Together will only allow them to move around most of the items that are on the farm you are both on.
You can allow them to also move Farm Cash Items or you can prevent them from moving Farm Cash Items.
They can NOT plow new fields or delete existing fields.
They can not buy items for you or put anything onto your farm that you have in Item storage.
They can not sell or delete your Items or work workable items on your farms unless they are a Super Neighbour with the appropriate permissions.

You will need to meet up with the farmer that you want to hire to design on the specific farm that you want help with. If they are not on your farm you can try one of these methods to meet up:

If it's a Neighbour or Buddy you can use your Farmers lists to send a message and ask them to meet you on a specific farm.

If they are a Neighbour you also have the Ask XXX to Join You option in the Neighbours bar. When you find them there, click on their picture then click on Ask XXX to Join You. They must be online in the game to be able to send that request AND to be hired to design.

If you already have a message from them you can go to the farm you want help with designing, open thier message, click reply and click on the Insert Farm Link option at the bottom of the message for them to use to go to a specfic farm. Current Farm would give them the link to the farm you are currently on. They can then click on that blue link in your message to go to that farm.

You do not have the Current Farm option in messages when not on your own farms. In this case you could send them a message and tell them which farm number to meet up on. When they open your message, they can click on the green man on your message to be taken to your farm then go from there to the correct farm if it's not the default farm.

When you can see the farmer you want to hire on your farm, click on their avatar to see their Avatar menu:

Click on Design this Farm together

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER HIRE OPTION JULY 2024.png

You will see the hire confirmation popup message.

There is an extra option in the Message

No check mark means they CAN move any Items including those that cost Farm Cash.
If you need help with connecting working trains, make sure there is NO check mark in the box. Some Locommotives and ALL the Long Cars are Farm Cash Items.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER NO CHECK MARK.png

If you do NOT want them to move any Farm Cash Items ADD the check mark by clicking in the box.

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER WITH CHECK MARK.png

Click on the green check mark to continue with the hiring OR click on the "X" to cancel the hiring.

When you click on the green check mark to send the request, they will see a message like this:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER REQUEST MESSAGE.png

When they have accepted the hire by clicking Sure, let's do it! you will see the following message. You can then click on "Great, thanks" to close the message:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER REQUEST ACCEPTED.png

If you have allowed them to move any item including Farm Cash Items they will see this:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER WITH FC ITEMS MOVE ALL.png

If you have NOT allowed them to move Farm Cash Items they will see this:

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER NO FC ITEMS MOVE SOME.png

When the farmer clicks on OK I'll get started they will be able to move Items that are on your farm.

They will also have access to the Yellow edit hand and also some of the other design tools like the Freestyle Farm Designers. (https://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5275626#post5275626) IF you own them and have placed them into storage. If they can use them, they will be able to see them in the Toolbox.

ONLY use the yellow hand to reconnect working trains after alering or moving them! Using the freestyle designers can cause an overlap and then the hightlight to show them connected thinks they are correctly connected when they are not!!!

Any tool a hired farmer do not have access to use, will be greyed out in their Toolbox.

To cancel the request to design, you can either:

Leave the farm
OR click on their avatar and choose Cancel Design Farm Together

https://r1.slashkey.com/images/gameguide/hiring/DESIGN TOGETHER CANCEL HIRE OPTION JULY 2024.png

REMEMBER: When you hire someone to help design your farm, you MUST remain on that farm at all times AND be active.

If you leave your farm the hire will be cancelled no changes will be saved.

If you remain still for more than 10 minutes, this will also cancel the hire. To help prevent this you should do something on your farm every few minutes.

If the hire to design ends and wasn't intended, the farmer would have to be re-hired.

Longer Term Designing:
It is possible to set a Neighbour as a Super Neighbour and give them permission to design a specific farm on a longer term basis. If the decorating is likely to take a long time you may find making them a super neighbour and giving them design permission for that specific farm works better for you.

In this case, neither of you need to remain online or on the same farm.

This still only allows ONE specific farm to be designed at a time. To design a different farm you would need to change the permission to another farm.

Super Neighbours can also have permissions to delete existing fields and plow new fields depending on the permissions.

Before you decide to make a Neighbour a Super Neighbour please make sure that you have read all the information about Super Neighbours so you know exactly what they would be able to do before you give them those permissions. You can go to the post about Super Neighbours by clicking on this link:
