New Release -- April 28th, 2011

Hi There,

We just released a new version of the game with the following features and bug fixes:

1. Mother's Day items.

2. Product Adjustments:

- Tripled production in Cinnamon Factory
- Cheese production is now twice as fast, 2 hours instead of 4, this is like duplicating production if you have enough milk
- Salt received as gift now comes in batches of 200 instead of 100

3. Plower 5 x 5 (FC): If you already own the Plower 4 x 4, then you can buy this new plower to plow up to 25 fields at a time.

4. Friend Activity Panel: Right below the game screen there is a panel that shows you how your friends are helping you, like who: sent you regular/farm cash gifts, sent you ingredients, worked at your facilities, worked at your farm, sold you products, watered your flowers, etc.

5. Sell All Selected Products in Market: Each product in the market window will have a check box in the upper left corner (except when using the Non-Ingredients filter). Also, there is a 'Sell Selected' button below the filter selector (top-right) that will allow you to sell all selected (checked) products in one click.

The check box state is remembered from session to session so if you have a set of products that you always sell, you just need to check those products only once.

Once a product is selected it will show as selected on all the filters.

6. Harvest-Plow Combine 5 x 5 (FC): If you already own the Harvester 5 x 5 and the Plower 5 x 5, then you can buy this new Harvest-Plow Combine to harvest and plow 25 fields at once.

If You own this tool and someone hires you for multiple jobs including harvest and plow, you will be able to use this tool as well.

7. Harvest Storage Increased: This time we increased the storage by 50% so you should be able to play longer time before your storage get's full again.

8. Pool Bar (FC): Produce Cocktails. You can produce Peach Liqueur in the Distillery.

9. Sports Accesories Factory (coins): Produce Sports Accesories. The Maple tree can now be chopped, then the logs used in the Sawmill to produce the Maple Lumber Pile. You need the Maple Lumber Pile to produce some sports accesories and, in the future, some fine musical instruments.

10. Sports Arena (coins): This is a Service Facility that can be stocked with the products below:

11. Glass Factory, School-Office Supplies Factory and Dance Club: Coming Tomorrow

We are also considering when a Hire Multiple is used for the employee to tele-transport always, so you don't have to wait for the harvest progress bars to finish in order to start plowing.

On the next release we will make several improvements to the gifting system and provide the capability for specific products and crops leveling, each product and crop will have 5 or 10 different levels, based on the total amounts of products done or crops harvested. The level will be used in the future to grant you different benefits.

2. When you are hired the avatar will jump (not walk) much more frequently now, so if you were hired with the Hire Multiple option for harvest and plow you will have to wait much less to start plowing

3. Combine 5 x 5 added to the plow vertical tool bar. In future releases we will find a way to include the 5x5 tools as well, or may be just replace the 4x4 tools with the 5x5 versions automatically if user owns them

4. We added a clarification note when selling selected items in market: "Note: When you select a product, all its variations (regular, large and gift) will be selected and sold as well"

5. Myspace crops and products disappearing from storage is now fixed

6. Fuel tanks credits given to users which may have lost fuel with the latest update

7. The cursor for the Plower 5 x 5 now have the correct size

8. The Graphic Help (?) for both Windmills now shows correct ingredient quantities for wheat

9. When hired and using the Combine tool, sometimes other people present on the same farm were seeing random uncompleted fields and the progress bar never went away

I love the new things.. but I am also maxed out on levels.. how is a new person suppose to even have a chance to get "hooked" on the game if there are not things to help them compete? Not everyone has been playing as long as some of us.. Shouldnt there be something to make it easier for them to get some " edge" in too? just wondering.. I know you guys love my money.. you get me every time.. but some new people havent played long enough to WANT to pay for things...

Of course it will take 95 FC$ to do (30+30+35). Ouch. Going to have to think about that one. Really appreciate the option though.

Sounds like a wonderful update. The "Sell All Selected" sounds like a perfect solution to the marketplace selling problems I wrote about in the forum just yesterday. I'm very eager to try it all out - just as soon as we get past the inevitable initial glitches that seem to be keeping me from being able to do anything on my farm at the moment (which I'm sure will be resolved quickly). How much exactly would the combine cost if one had to buy the 4 by 4 and 5 by 5 plow and the 4 by 4 and 5 by 5 harvester and then buy the combine. Must be quite a bit of farmcash. I know most of us who came to love playing this game, didn't want to have to post thousands of posts on the wall in order to get cool items like the combine. However, in this game it appears that it is going to cost quite a bit of cash to be able to farm 9 or more farms and not spend the whole day doing it. I can imagine that another combine will be hitting the market in the future that adds seeding. It is great that some people can pay lots of real money to advance in games and that some people love getting tons of facilities without ever getting anything to make the game easier. But, the game has lost me. I still do not see any point in working hard at farming without any hope of getting any cool items such as the combine, just more farms and more facilities which take more farming in order to load. I don't want anymore facilities personally as it already has gotten boring loading them. I am top level, but don't suppose I will be after teh next levels come out and I don't see any reason to even work for more levels as all I will get for it is a bigger 9th farm and more facilities. I haven't seen any facility for quite some time that excites me enough to buy, even the farmcash ones. I still have some farmcash, but personally, there is nothing I want, except the combine, and don't have enough for that. Besides, from what I have seen the past year, this game is really only for those who spend real money on the game. The loyalty I showed this game for ever so long, has not earned me anything really. I started when it took forever to go up levels and even got people playing who can pay real money on the game, and I don't mind not being able to keep up with the Joneses, but there is nothing to work for anymore. I can farm to make more coins to expand my 9th farm. It is never ending. the 10th farm will come out and I can work to expanding it as well. If someone knows a point for a non cash playing, top level player, let me know. If I was creative, I could decorate, but alas, that has never been something I was good at. Never thought I would lose interest in this game as it was always my favorite. Oh well.

Awesome!! Like others have said, I so was not expecting this, although I should know by now that when I have problems getting into FT something new is on the horizon. And CHEESE, omg you have doubled the cheese. Thank you to all the mods and devs, for making the forum and the game a great place to be. And it's been a pleasure getting to know some of the regulars here.

I would just like to say to those that are unhappy about more cash items, I feel for you and I even feel a bit guilty that I am able to buy most things. But the game will always need new releases and improvements to keep most players interested, and these things cost money. The game would not have evolved the way it has without those cash items. The developers have had to keep up with the times and expectations of the players or the game would have just dried up, and someone has to pay for it.

I have the 5x5 harvest but the 5x5 plower doesn't show even though it is in storage under items. The combine tool is still locked.

overall looks like a great update again, love the design of new buildings, more cheese is great, I do wonder if it will be enough to suit all players, some use more than others. I do have 1 complaint, in the April 7th update you released a 5x5 harvester for 30FC, 3 weeks later and in the very next release you put out a 5x5 harvester/plower combo??? for 35 FC. I personally hope this don't become a habit. I would expect this move from the other farm game, but not from Farmtown!!!

Love all the updates, especially the cheese and cinnamon increases. Now if they would just increase the tuna. For 15 days in the food preserve factory, you make enough tuna for 5 days worth of tuna sandwiches. Think if that were done, I wouldn't have a thing left to want. Wonderful changes, constantly. Yes, there are occasional glitches, but of all the games I have played, Farm Town is the most reliable, fair and by far the most updated game I have seen. And it doesn't require begging for this and that constantly like most of the other Facebook social type games. And it's the only one I have put actual money into because it's the only one I feel deserves it.

Oh but it is so cool and makes things real quick to harvest and plow all in one swipe. Cuts work time down a lot. Of course who ever is hiring you must do the multi-hire or it don't do you any good. Oh and you can get 120 FC for $20.

Thank you for the increase in cheese and cinnamon it will help out a lot. I would like to make a suggestion, in the store the facilities need to be broken up into two categories. One that is the facilities that make products, the other is service facilities. This way people know which is which and can decide which they want to buy easier. I know the service says provides ____ services but having 2 different sections will help out a lot especially if yall will be adding a lot more service facilities.

Also, spending Farm Cash on the new tools & facilities is only fair. That other farm game, I have to beg people to help. I don't like that. And if I don't get help right away, my progress on the game stops. And they charge outlandish prices for their goods. None of the cool stuff can be bought with coins. Anyone complaining about the prices here, well....I use this for relaxation and recreation. $40.00 of real money buys me something that I still have months from the date of purchase. Movie and dinner out costs about the same. I'll take Farm Town over that.:cool:

Foil is not aluminum foil. It is the rapier used in fencing. It is made from a sheet of stainless steel from the Metal Factory. :)

I find myself in agreement with you. I feel that the money I spend helps keep the sight running and moving forward, and thats a good thing. I think too many people have no idea just how much it costs to run something on the order of Farm Town. I know the Devs do a LOT for us, and I am thankful for what they do. Come the 3rd, I shall purchase more cash, so that I may get some more of the items that I want.

By cutting the production time in half you can now load the dairy with double the production. So instead of 540 it is now 1080 units produced in the same amount of time.

Try taking your chainsaw out of storage and then put it back. That has worked before for some who had tools that wouldn't work.

The only ones I have seen at the bottom are the ones that have sent "Ingredients" Not sure this is really needed as the names show on those in the gift box as well as the single gifts do. What needs to be put down at the bottom is a list of those who work your facilities, since we don't always get a reply on FB from them.

It would have to be a multiple hire and then you pick your tool from the Extended Toolbox (where the facility manager is located).

Instead of some fancy tele-transport (whatever that is), just make it so the employee can refresh the current farm if they desire. A small square the size of a farm square on the 9 farm diamond.

I don't always need to refresh between harvesting and plowing when I'm working for someone. If there's no glitches with harvesting not finishing, I usually don't need to.

Also, make the farm diamond refresh the current farm if you click on the current farm. The number of times anyone makes a mistake will certainly not be more than we already click on the wrong farm. Refreshing the current farm will save bandwidth when compared with the current method of zoning to another farm and back again.

It would have to be a multiple hire and then you pick your tool from the Extended Toolbox (where the facility manager is located).

Yep I've hired multiple before and that's exactly what I did, but I have only been given the option of my old 16 x 16 harvester and plow.

Should I be able to have access to my new 5 x 5s on another neighbours farms, as well as my combine. I've completely restarted, and cleared the cache, but still only offered the option of 4x4s. Can't figure out what I've got wrong.

UPDATE: The option shown is still my 4x4, but when I clicked to use it the 5x5 came up to be used.

Still haven't figured out if I can use my combine on the neighbours farm though, and don't have anything ready to be harvested to try it on my own farm.

I just brought the 5x5 solar plower I can only use it if I take it from storage because I don't see it listed.

Also combine harvest-plow is still locked.

I had the same problem at first ... in all my excitement forgot that I had to put the other 5x5 implements (harvest & plow) in storage and refresh before the system would let me buy the 5x5 harvest/plow combo

I am still concerned about the cheese, yeah the cut the production time in half but that wasn't a problem really it the production limit now if the they double that I may not have to have 4 dairy facilities. :)

Well they have doubled the cheese. It used to take 4 hours to make 5 cheese now in four hours you can make 12 cheese. When cheese was fully loaded you would have 540 pending now you have 1080 pending.

The only ones I have seen at the bottom are the ones that have sent "Ingredients" Not sure this is really needed as the names show on those in the gift box as well as the single gifts do. What needs to be put down at the bottom is a list of those who work your facilities, since we don't always get a reply on FB from them.

I had a message that said so and so worked your facilities so it is not just for sending gifts. I personally don't care who works my facilities or if they click like or say thank you on fb as long as someone works my facilities. This will be good for people that want to see who is helping them in their facilities.

I have just purchased the new solar powered plower and the combine harvester and plower. I placed both in my storage. I have tried to use the combine and it is using up the Farm $ I have left!!! It keeps giving me a message that I do not have enough money as I now have only $5 - surely we dont have to pay Farm $ every time we use it? I thought it just used fuel like the other tools.

When I am hired to work on other people's farms, I see a lot of people have implements, (harvesters, etc.) sitting out on various farms. I don't think they understand that they only need 1 of each and to keep it in their storage so that it can be accessed from any farm.

Also when i try to fill up my facilities it says they are on 100% but when i reload the game they are at 52% or 74% or something like that, it does seem like the materials are being consumed though!

It cost me just $20.00 for 100 farm cash which I used to upgrade to 5x5 tools and then to the combine. The combine works and it cuts in half the time it takes to harvest and plow. I agree that we should be allowed to have a few more ways to earn farm cash - we don't get many offers in Australia - and I too can't afford to splurge large amounts on farm cash, but I certainly have way more than $20.00 worth of fun out of Farm Town each and every day.

I love the new things.. but I am also maxed out on levels.. how is a new person suppose to even have a chance to get "hooked" on the game if there are not things to help them compete? Not everyone has been playing as long as some of us.. Shouldnt there be something to make it easier for them to get some " edge" in too? just wondering.. Everytime I hire someone from the marketplace (which now takes a long time for anyone to respond) , everyone in the marketplace comes with me to my farm. It seems that my farm is the marketplace. Ok I know the devs are aware of some of the problems, but im posting regardless, because i just harvested 3 of my own farms full of wheat, all trees on all farms, emptied all animal sheds, etc.,
and NONE of these things ever went into my storage.

Yea thats how it works:

4x4 harvester and plow= 90 FC
5x5 harvester and plow= 60 FC
Combine= 35 FC
Total= 185 FC or about $35 to 40 dollars in real money to buy that combine...

Most of the game is still busted and has bugs in it yet. I wouldnt buy nothing right now or do any work untill they get the game working right again.

Yes, to purchase the combine and all of the equipment necessary in order to buy the combine costs 185 FC, which costs at least $35 real money. That's a LOT of money, though evidently worth it to some. What I would like to see is a 3x3 combine that costs coins - even if a lot of them - for those of us who have chosen not to invest in all the FC equipment. And a 4x4 FC combine would be a reasonable offering too.

Please understand that I do spend real $$ to buy FC for facilities and to upgrade farms, and for some tools. But I think some better concessions and generosity could be made to people who don't want to (or can't) spend this huge chunk of money for all the FC tools.

I hate the "Friend Activity Panel." Absolutely HATE it!!!! I don't want it cluttering up an already over-saturated Facebook/FT screen. I don't want to be nagged and prodded to work other people's farms, work facilities and send gifts. If I want to do those things, I will.

This release is extremely frustrating. Items won't sell in the market and you've added more unwanted clutter to the screen. :mad:

You have to admit it is better than the add that was done there. It does not bother me at all. I think it is kind of nice to know that someone has sent the ingredients that I requested so I go out and back in and retrieve them. But yes as far as the other stuff i could care less, but I usually work in full screen mode and don't see them anyway.

The good news is that FarmTown plays perfectly well without spending a bunch of money on FC. Revenue from FC is undoubtedly necessary if the game is to stay around and keep growing. Thank you to the people who are able to do so - I feel like I get the benefit of their expenditure because if there was no revenue....shortly there would be no game at all. Would I like some of the FC items? Sure, and when I can afford to, I do purchase FC, but I am very cautious about buying these items. I generally do not purchase until I have seen a lot of feedback and until I can determine the benefit to me in the way I play the game. Love love LOVE increased cinnamon production - it was my personal pet peeve!~ Now for that super forklift that will let us STORE ALL without clicking on each facility. Also the ability to "goose" crop growth or facility production in an ingredient emergency - would love to be able to buy a "bump" so I could get a small amount of needed ingredients faster. Thanks, developers, for a nice release.

LOL - Yep. This is true. Thanks for posting this, because for a moment or two I was thinking of buying more farm cash to spring for this for my husband and I. But, now that you've posted this I can see how this does not fit in with the frugal lifestyle I am trying to adopt. But, instead of filling my [real] car with gas, I could buy the FC and get these tools. But, then I couldn't go to work, so that doesn't work. Stupid priorities!! LOL Too bad I couldn't crank out gas in my backyard like I can on FarmTown!! Unfortunately, I've spent hundreds of real $$ on this game. I enjoy it, and I can justify most of what I've spent. Are you insane! It is the best idea they ever came up with. I may not always want to plow the field I just harvested but it is sure nice to be able to both at same time when I do and man what a time saver. And the problem with when doing a multi-hire where you harvest and plow the field and you have wait on the avatar to finish harvesting so you can finish plowing is gone! You do them both at same time. This is GENIUS I tell you.

I believe I have a problem with the new Sports Equipment factory and the Sports Arena service facility.

In an effort to be succinct about the problem, please forgive the length of this post.

Bought both late Thursday night. Using facility manager, put both into production.

Friday morning. again using the facility manager (forklift), collected product from factory, but the service facility, while showing the stock I had loaded, had nothing for me to cash out. Found this to be curious as movie theater and supermarket had cash out products. I loaded more product into Sports Arena, including the equipment I had produced overnight at the Sports Equipment facility. Decided to monitor Sports Arena.

Friday afternoon, while on the farm (2) that contained the two facilities, I went directly into each and discovered that none of the new product I had loaded into the Sports Equipment factory was in production, that only the two products I had loaded Thursday night was there and completed. I started the production again. In the Sports Arena, I went to the Pending folder to Cash Out, only to be informed that there was no stock in production. I reloaded stock, went back to Pending page, and again was informed that there was no stock in production.

I am almost always on WF40 or WF70 while in FT.

Anything you can do to check out my problem would be appreciated.

Oh, and before you ask: machros, cache, and Flashplayer...cleared, cleared, and up-to-date.

1. Mother's Day items.

2. Product Adjustments:

- Tripled production in Cinnamon Factory
- Cheese production is now twice as fast, 2 hours instead of 4, this is like duplicating production if you have enough milk
- Salt received as gift now comes in batches of 200 instead of 100

3. Plower 5 x 5 (FC): If you already own the Plower 4 x 4, then you can buy this new plower to plow up to 25 fields at a time.

4. Friend Activity Panel: Right below the game screen there is a panel that shows you how your friends are helping you, like who: sent you regular/farm cash gifts, sent you ingredients, worked at your facilities, worked at your farm, sold you products, watered your flowers, etc.

5. Sell All Selected Products in Market: Each product in the market window will have a check box in the upper left corner (except when using the Non-Ingredients filter). Also, there is a 'Sell Selected' button below the filter selector (top-right) that will allow you to sell all selected (checked) products in one click.

The check box state is remembered from session to session so if you have a set of products that you always sell, you just need to check those products only once.

Once a product is selected it will show as selected on all the filters.

6. Harvest-Plow Combine 5 x 5 (FC): If you already own the Harvester 5 x 5 and the Plower 5 x 5, then you can buy this new Harvest-Plow Combine to harvest and plow 25 fields at once.

If You own this tool and someone hires you for multiple jobs including harvest and plow, you will be able to use this tool as well.

7. Harvest Storage Increased: This time the increase is really significant, to the point that you may not see the Storage Full message again.

8. Pool Bar (FC): Produce Cocktails. You can produce Peach Liqueur in the Distillery.

Yes... as I said I am happy - VERY happy with the new release. But, with all the alcohol, my favorite drink isn't there. Kahlua. We have coffee, vodka, sugar and vanilla. That equals Kahlua. We also make cream in the dairy. We could make the Kahlua in the distillery. We could make the Kahlua and cream in the Pool Bar. Maybe next release?? = )

I just made a huge mistake - I purchased the 5x5 Harvester for myself & gifted one to my wife (Helana) not realizing that we both already had them. Now I'm out 60 FC for items neither of us needed.

Then I purchased the 5x5 (solar-powered) Plower for myself & gifeted one to my wife. Obviously, the intent was to then purchase the 5x5 Combine Havest-Plow for both myself & my wife.

My wife's gift box shows only the 5x5 Harvester (that she doesn't need because she already has it). Neither my wife nor I received the 5x5 (solar-powered) Plower. And when I try to purchase the 5x5 Combine Harvest-Plow it denies me saying that I need to purchase the 5x5 (solar-powered) Plower.

So far, I'm out 120 FC & have nothing to show for my money except two mistake purchases. I asked my wife to not accept the 5x5 Harvester until we get a resolution to this.

I am having the same problem. There are about five of my factories that are producing at 0. I load them and click out, when I click right back in, it shows that I have loaded nothing. Very Frustrating!

is the gallons (after refueling) or is that fuel cans? If gas after refueling divide it by 300 (300,000) then multiply it times what one fuel can sells for (1200).

I am having a problem with trying to sell at market. I go to the market and begin selling my items from storage and no new money will show up in my coins though my items are disappearing. Thankyou for the latest updates. I didn't want any of that. I was after new trees & crops, new animals, farming related themes. I think i am not happy with the trend that is developing in this game - there is a lot of commerce now, much less happy farming, some very ugly buildings. I do not understand the rationale behind the tools either, having to buy with cash the new multiples even when you own the previous editions. I just think that there must be a better way. I shall stick to my simple farms thanks, not interested in not farming in a farm game.

I have the combine, and nearly all my fields are staggered for 3x the yield (6x with the fertilizer)

The combine works great.... what a time saver, not having to plow afterwards.

If you have layers, meaning each crop is laid on top of another edge to edge, that is something else.

First off, I would like to tell you all that I have had a lot health issues the last month or so. My 2 year anniversary playing Farm Town, came and went, on April 15th, and I didn't even get to celebrate it. But hopefully I am on the mend now, and doing better. But I do have a problem. I am sure Rob, Tony or Tiger will be eager to jump on this, and prove me a complete dork. LOL

I do not understand the Service Facilities at all. What is the purpose of them. Nobody can work them when you post your facilities. I am really lost on these facilities. So would appreciate any help. Thanks so much. And your last 2 updates Devs have been awesome. I am just now getting to learn about them, and use them. Also thank you Mods for the awesome job you do here in the Forums.

When I go to the Facility Manager to load all my crops.....I empty what has been produced. As soon as I click STORE ALL on the facility Manger...it removes that facility from the FManager. THANKFULLY it is still on the farm...and I can go there and load crops, but it is SCAREY that I could possibly lose a WHOLE facility this way...............whats up ??? (all maint has been done)

My 2 year anniversary playing Farm Town, came and went, on April 15th, and I didn't even get to celebrate it. But hopefully I am on the mend now, and doing better. But I do have a problem. Mary sorry to hear you have been ill, and glad to hear you are on the mend.
As for the service facilities, the devs are working on making it possible to have your friends help you with them. In the meanwhile they ARE actually earning you a lot of money, I think it's 50% more than if you sold those items directly at the market place.

While I applaud the updates, I am also sad. Recently bought a second Cinnamon Factory and now don't need it. Do need the $27 I spend for nothing. Won't be able to get other things now. I don't mind buying farm cash once in a while, but there IS a limit!

I just discovered that the combiner doesn't work on layers.

Thanks, this is great to know. I stagger my fields, 3-layer and one 9-layer. I guess I won't be needing this tool.

Edit: I've hired people to work my farm. The combiner works well on staggered fields.

I also bought a second cinnamon factory. There is always a risk of doubling up on facilities, because you just never know what changes the devs might make next. unfortunately it's just one of those things

When I try to use the combiner it says I need more money. I have over 5 billion, what does it mean I need more money?

It's probably referring to the fact you need more FC to buy the smaller tools that is mandatory to own BEFORE the combine will work.
You must own both the 4x4 and 5x5 versions of BOTH the harvesters and plows before the combine works.
