HTML5/WebGL: Game Not loading or frequent crashes

Haven’t been able to load Farmtown for at least 3 days on my iPad Pro when it had worked fine for 2 1/2 weeks prior. Doesn’t matter if on Edge, Chrome or Safari. All latest version and Web gl 2 enabled. All very frustrating and costing us farm cash! User ID on lindasue6 account is 1531468114. Bear girl account is 100000197778849. Having to spend 15 minutes plus to finally load for very minimal time on either account is NOT right. Extremely frustrating.

I am sorry but there isn't a much we can suggest for you. The game is designed to be played on computers and laptops rather than mobile devices, tablets, iPads etc. Whether the devs will have time to see if anything can be done for those is up to them.

As you've updated to the latest version, you could also look at things like if you are able to optimise the device, see if storage is getting full, clear the website data on those browsers, enable airplane mode for a few seconds then disable it to refresh the network connection, see if safari will work for you, or head over to the relevant apple support website for your device and see if they have any suggestions that may help you.

UPDATED: After 3 restarts of the play screen - it did finally open. Took about 20 minutes.

UPDATED: After 3 restarts of the play screen - it did finally open. Took about 20 minutes.

I've loaded your farms without any issues. Glad to hear you managed to load the game now.

As you have a new laptop, it's worth you checking for any computer updates and do those if there are any.

Please also check if Firefox also needs updating, if it does after doing those please close the browser for a couple of minutes before you reopen it and try again.
You can ignore the error about Firefox that is something Firefox needs to fix and is unlikely to be causing you this problem

If the problem returns, you can also try clicking on this link which is to one of your smaller farms that has less on it and see if it will completely load before you try others farms:

If that doesn't help see if another updated browser works better for you.

I've found that Firefox often appears to hang if you click on another window or tab while the game is loading. Browser appears to need focus on this tab to apply the fix. Clicking on the game area will usually get it going again.

Are you still having the same problem now?
I've not had any problems loading your farms.

Have you tried things like, checking for browser updates, clearing the caches/history, logging out of Facebook then logging back in again?

yes, I have done that. I can get in if I close the message window, but it pops up every time I go to get on my farm. I have tried in different browsers also, and the same message pops up. Also I can't boost my trains as yet, the neighbor list will not load.

Which browser are you using? Double check if it is up to date and also if you have any pending update for Windows or Mac in case you use it.

Are you trying to load your game from a saved link in your browser? If so, then do not do it and click in the game icon in the left column of your facebook home page.

If nothing works for you, and you have already cleared your browser cache, please close everything and then reset your router/modem for a minute. Then reopen and see if the problem is fixed.

If after doing all the previous you still have problems, and taking in mind that message is sent by facebook and you cant get the list of your friends which also goes through facebook, I would try to contact facebook to report a problem.

Not sure if this is the right area but I just started playing again yesterday after not playing for 3 plus years. 1st time playing on this computer. so I know this isn't a Cache/Cookies issue, plus I clear those every night, and I barely use my computer .
I get the disconnected from mainframe pop up seems like every 5 minutes, I also have a full on crash of the game when farming for others, it's at random times and never doing the same thing twice when it occurs, I just get a grey screen with the sad face in the middle. I refresh and sometimes it takes me back to be re-hired, other times it does not.

Not sure if it's relevant - but I play right through Facebook, I don't use Facebook games app or anything.

I moved your post the thread about crashing and disconnects.
Please check if there is any update for Windows or Mac, you can type update in the search box and you usually get "search for updates", you have to follow the instructions. Remember to close and restart after updating.

Also make sure your browser is updated as sometimes they do not automatically update.

Disable all extensions added to your browser. Any that would change the way Facebook looks, perhaps to the old classic look or hide Facebook ads. Those have caused problems with being able to load the game.


Also try the steps in the first post of this thred and check the minimum requirements for playing.

I was able to send and accept gifts this morning but can't seem to log in to play. On Chrome, I'm getting the "Your browser does not support WebGL." error. On Firefox, it just keeps trying to load, but then refreshing - over and over.

Hi Susan :)

I moved your post to the thread about HTML5 for problems loading the game.

When this happens, check to be sure your browser is up to date and also if you have any pending updated for Windows or Mac in case you use it.

Then close your browser and restart your computer. See if that fixed the problem.

If not, then clear your browser cache. The first time you load the game after the clearing it will load slowly as all graphics have to be loaded again.

I've tried both your farms 8 and 12 this morning and no problems with those at all.
When you see a ConnectionError in the console it usually means that you have a temporary internet issue, perhaps that is why you were fine with some of your farms but then it would disconnect again when you went to the others.

I had a look at your other post where you had a different error showing which also causes a disconnect. Was that while working for other farmer or when loading one of your own farms?

In that same post we could see that your browsers were using an older version. Have you checked for browser updates today? If not please do so in both of the browsers you prefer to use. Then close the browsers to allow them to finish updating and clear the memory it's been using.

Then, if you are using a saved bookmark in your browser to load the game, please don't use that, instead use either the Play FarmTown button at the top of the game screen or the Facebook link for Farm Town at the left side of your Facebook News Feed. This is just to ensure that you are not loading an older version of the game.

I have temporarily turned off everything in your game preferences like show crops etc so that you have less to load when you next load the game.
When you next load the game see if it immediately disconnects without anything showing. If it does then you likely have in internet issue.
If it does not disconnect then try visiting 8 and 12 and see if the problem happens on those or a different error shows up.
If those farms are also fine you can gradually start showing some of the preferences like show crops, one at a time and see what happens as you add more items that you need to work on.



If you continue to have problems, like getting disconnected on bigger/heavier farms please continue with the rest of what is in this post:

In Taz's reply to you he also asked you to check the items in the first post on page one.

If after adding that setting and reloading the game you are still having difficulties with bigger farms what you can try when you are doing farm work for your self or for other farmers is make sure that you only show the items that need to be worked, don't show everything that doesn't need doing like, building, facilites, decorations etc as that's just more for you to load so you don't need those showing.

As for my 1st post, yes I updated Chrome, I've cleared cache, I used Firefox (had to download it as I always use Chrome) My computer meets all requirements. The crashing to where I get the sad face, is on other players farms. the pop up for disconnect from the game server is on my own farm and others, I know it used to pop up if you were in active for say 5 minutes or so , but It does it while I'm doing stuff so I know that's not popping up because I'm inactive, Like I'll be working in my faculty manager and it's popping up several times through out the process

Last nights issue (this post here) is at random times, I didn't see your reply until after I got on so I will have to go hide everything again and try that So far though it's been farm 8 and I have to refresh when it does it due to it freezing my game up, usually after about 4 refreshes It loads, then will do it again later.

I will have to double check because today I've not been in full screen much, but I think each time farm 8 froze I was in full screen, but again I'll double check and do the testing too with hiding everything/unhiding after so long to see if that has anything to do with it.

In my humble opinion I'm not so sure it has to do with my internet connection, I have good connection and my computer never shows me dropping connection when it happens. Of course I know that could still be the issue and it's just not disconnecting long enough to show on my end. Also my computer (Desktop HP) is connected through WIFI but I've never had any internet connection issues or intermitted disconnects before on anything I've done.

Oh and I do not use a saved version or book marked version I open Google, Go to my facebook, click farmtown and play. I don't even have other tabs open while I'm playing.

I will test those other options you gave me through out tonight. and see how that works, along with testing my farm 8 issue on full screen vs. non full screen.

Please make sure that you have done any computer and browser updates, then go to the first post on page one of this thread (http://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=650270) and have a look at the all the information there for information more help and to see if your computer meets the technical requirements need to play.

This is the link to one of your smaller farms, see if you can load that one fine. If you can, turn off everything in your game preferences when you don't need to see something so you have less to load. For example if you were doing farm work, you wouldn't need to show things like decorations, buildings, facilites etc while you were doing those:

After updating the browser did you, close it then reopen it? If you haven't yet or it's done that since then, try closing the browser for a couple of minutes, then reopen it and it should be fine. If you haven't done so also make sure that you check for and have done all your computer updates.

Please note that your internet to your service provideris only one link in the internet for your data to get to and from the Farm Town servers. That data goes through many links between your computer and the Facebook app server and then more links between there and the Farm Town servers. Any one of those links having problems can slow your data down and even cause your game to lose connection and go off line from the servers. Unfortunately there is no way for us to monitor or get those links fixed as they are not under the control of Farm Town. The only thing you can do is wait it out and hope the owners of those links realize there is a problem and get it fixed.



For you one farm problem, moving that farm around is obviously not helping. From what you are saying about that farm there is something wrong with it. I have loaded your farms and gone to that farm with no problems. From what I can see you only have a few buildings and a crop on it, so should not be causing that error.

Thank You I will give Support a go. That Farm thing is just annoying more than anything , specially since it's always random like when I logged in tonight after work I've been on for about 1 1/2 hrs or so and it's working fine I can go from farm to farm and it doesn't freeze up on that one, but it acted exactly the same way yesterday and around 9pm or so EST it started acting up, over the weekend it was just at random times , It probably would do it during the day to at random times too but I'm at work during the week so It doesn't get the chance to give me grief LOL

I will also let Support know about the random crashing when I am working on others farms' getting the grey screen w/ sad face. and when I refresh my game I hardly ever get the rehire option. it just happened about 3 minutes ago I refreshed and nothing came up to go back and finish working. I was on a players farm that had a total of 23 farms hired me to work them all and I was only on number 11. So I end up losing out on a lot of coins and xp when it doesn't pop up to rehire after a crash

Which browser are you using? Double check if it is up to date and also if you have any pending update for Windows or Mac in case you use it.
Disable all extensions added to your browser. Any that would change the way Facebook looks, perhaps to the old classic look or hide Facebook ads. Those have caused problems with being able to load the game.



Also there are steps you can try to check your computer in the first post on the first page of this thread. There are also minimum requirements for playing in that post. Make sure your computer meets those requirements.

There was a release just recently of a fix for a gift sending problem.
Please try clearing your memcache (link below), then when the page of unsetting text opens close that as it is done.
If your farm is open close it. Then reopen and try again.

Do not use a saved bookmark to your farms as your browser can change that bookmark. Instead use either the the link in your shortcuts in the left column of your Facebook home page or use the button at the top of the forums that says Play FarmTown.

I moved your post to the HTML5 thread for loading issues.

Please check if your browser is up to date and also if you have any pending update for Windows or Mac if you use it. It is very important to have all updates done.

Also, reset your router/modem for a minute and see if the problem is fixed.

I temporaly hide all items on your farms to let you load them faster. Then you can click in your preferences, the wrench, and put a check mark to the Show.... options you want.

Go to the first post, first page (http://r1.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=650270) of this thread and check all suggestions given there and also check the requirements for your computer.

If you have another updated browser in your computer, then try it and see if you get the same problems.

Hi Bratuski,
Make sure you do not have any add ons or plugins enabled like adblockers or ones that change the way Facebook looks.

Only other suggestion I can think of is try a different browser and see if it will load with it after you have allowed the cookies and pop ups for it.


Also you might try all the suggestions in the first post of this thread for checking your computer. The minimum requirements for playing are also there.

If not perhaps try this - when you clear the caches, remove the check mark that clears the cookies and other site data and clear the rest instead like browsing history and cached images and files, then just close the browser and reopen it and see if that will clear the error without you needing to authorize again for work related use.

If none of those help and you have not contacted support (http://apps.facebook.com/farmtown/settings2/support/) about this yet then it may well be time to do so if you are getting this frequently.

If not perhaps try this - when you clear the caches, remove the check mark that clears the cookies and other site data and clear the rest instead like browsing history and cached images and files, then just close the browser and reopen it and see if that will clear the error without you needing to authorize again for work related use.

If none of those help and you have not contacted support (http://apps.facebook.com/farmtown/settings2/support/) about this yet then it may well be time to do so if you are getting this frequently.

How many facility work posts are you doing before it starts erroring out? Are you opening a lot of them in separate tabs at the same time?
You might want to cut down on how many you open at the same time. You also might want to try closing and restart your browser after doing a certain number to see if that stops the errors.

Im not sure which browser you are using, but if it is Chrome it is not up to date.

Which cache have you cleared? Memcache or browser cache? You need to clear browser cache, if you need instructions on how to do it, please visit the following link:

When you get this message, please close your browser for a few minutes and then reopen it.

If you still get the message, then restart your computer.

If nothing works for you, then clear your browser cache. The first time you load the game after the clearing, it will load slowly as all graphics have to be loaded again.

You know that we test new things for the game and if there are errors then developers have to fix them before they are released so sometimes there is a delay with the release.

But Im sure we will get the new release very soon :)

This sounds more like an internet problem specially since it has been happening a short amount of time. That does not mean your internet connection to your service provider is slow though I would check with them to see if they have a problem.

You could also try all the suggestions in the following link to see if any of those help:

There are many links your data has to go through between you and the Facebook app server and then many more links between that and the Farm Town servers. Any one of those links having problems such as being overloaded will cause the data to be very slow getting to and back from the servers.
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to monitor or get fixed any of those links.

Please have them check if theirr browser is up to date and also if you have a pending update for Windows or Mac in case you use it.
Chrome updated a few days ago and Windows updated recently too.
Please restart after any update you do.



Beyond that they will need to post individually in here for any additional help. Even if they may have similar problems that does not mean they are all the same.

You have been answered multiple times about this problem.

When this happens, please check if your browser is up to date and also if you have any pending update for Windows or Mac in case you use it.

If you do updates, then please restart.

If that is not the problem, then just close everything and restart your computer.

If you still cant load the game, then clear your browser cache. The first time you load the game after the clearing, it will load slowly as all graphics have to be loaded.

EDIT: Just found your answers. Sorry I did not see them in the quote.
The 4GB of Ram is only half of what is required for the game. That can cause problems with loading your farms. We have turned off all the Show items for your farms to limit what gets loaded when you open your farms. Try loading them and then see if you can move around them.
Unfortunately the Chromebooks with less than 8 GB of ram do struggle with loading and working the game. There isn't anything that we can do for that. The new system for WebGL requires more memory (ram) to run the game.
